Chapter 11 - Depths' dangers

The ship creaked with each slow passing wave which pushed it along, the quiet hum of wind dragged along its length. Each passing moment felt dragged out, yet Mira couldn't capture this feeling of uneasiness. No matter how many times she ignored it, it slowly crept up her body, each little noise made her shift uneasily. It was just her on the deck, everyone was either resting or doing some other duty. Standing at the bow of the ship, overlooking the dark water beneath. The soft sun like light had been dimmed, by what seemed like clouds, a soft droplet tapped at the Mira's nose, running down its side and her cheek. "How.. How can it rain down here? How is that possible?" It didn't make sense to Mira, they were at the bottom of an endless ocean, how can there be continents, seas, oceans, rain? None of this made sense to her. Maybe she's overthinking it, being out in these water for 2 days now, maybe its taking a toll on her. She hasn't been able to sleep properly.

Mira's thoughts suddenly broke as she felt a gentle hand on her back. Her head slowly turned to face the person "Gala.." yet she didn't finish her words. There was no one there, her gaze was fixated on no one. A sudden strong gust of wind pushed Mira out of her trance, taking a slow breath. "I feel horrible.." Mira murmured to herself, her steps mismatched as she headed for the superstructure, the entrance to head down. "I need rest.." Mira chocked out as her head spun, sliding along a wall. She saw faces, people, yet she couldn't make the out, everything was blurry, were they the crew? Turning the corner, her hands grasped for the wall, her knees felt weak.

Slipping into the dim room, Mira saw Galadriel, her hand reaching for the other woman. "Oh.. Mira? You look pale.. Are you.." Galadriel's voice slowly faded as Mira wrapped her arms around her waist, she was practically on her knees, barely standing. Pressing her head against Galadriel's stomach, pressing her cheek against the fabric. Galadriel stumbled back, both of them falling to the floor, her back pressed against the bed. "Mira.. What's gotten into you? You.." Yet her words dwindled once more, the silence setting in, only broken by the ever so often crash of a wave against the ship. Mira didn't respond, of course she didn't, she had fallen unconscious. Galadriel had kept Mira in check, yet it was always sudden with her, she couldn't help worry. Yet she could never shake off that there was something off about her, never speaking about anything before this. With a slow sigh, Galadriel closed her own eyes, letting this moment woo her to sleep, this moment of peace.

Blaring alarms screamed and tore the room, Galadriel's eyes shot open. Her eyes widened, this wasn't the ship, this was her spaceship. Did she dream everything that had happened, why were they going off. "RAPID DESCENT, IMPACT WITH SRUFACE OF PLANET EXPECTED IN LESS THAN 10 SECONDS." The robotic voice blared through the intercom, it was the system. Her hand presses against the glass, yet the protective shielding had already activated, she couldn't see. The shuttle shuck and rattled with impact, yet it was softer than she had imagined, as if she had landed on a body of water. Shutting off the alarm, Galadriel slid her helm on and slowly pushed towards the door. All of this felt too familiar, and the sight before her made her heart sink. A vast never endless ocean. "Analysis complete. Conclusion: This planet's surface is covered in ocean, no land masses found. ... Notice: Unknow movement detected, massive life form rapidly approaching." Galadriel's head spun in confusion, at the voice, at the sight, she knew what was about to happen, after all this is..

Galadriel sat up instantly, panting, her eyes shot around, she was back on the ship. "Mira!" Her breathing slowed as she saw her still there, in her lap. It was a nightmare, a reminder of the truth, the reality. Slowly she pushed Mira's head off her lap, lifting her and laying her into one of the beds, Galadriel headed out. People rushed past her, panicked, something about the deck. Soon came the alarms, without hesitation, Galadriel grabbed her weapon and headed for the deck. Sliding the heavy metal door open, rain rushed against her face, wind accompanied. There on the deck, were creatures, they were slimy, almost lizard like with fins. They hissed, growled the crew, rushing forward at them, sharp claws clashing with weapons. Galadriel rushed forward, gripping her spear as she lunged, sinking it into the nearest one she could find. They were weaker than what she had fought before, cutting through them one by one. Yet one replaced another, pilling onto the deck, more and more came. Different types, some bigger, some differently coloured. Most were a dark blueish colour. But some were darker. A sudden crackling sounded through the air as lightning sprawled from one of the darker ones, tearing through the air. With a swift turn, she headed to block the attack before it could hit anyone. Clashing with the weapon, the wet pole. It travelled along, a sharp burning making Galadriel drop her spear. A soft sound cut through the air, a blue light flashing along, splattering the creature's head upon intact. Turning her head Galadriel saw Mira, her pale blue hair sprawling out, she had never really noticed how long it was. "She has gotten just a bit more confident.." Galadriel sighed to herself, grabbing her spear back up.

One after another, the light blue shots pierced the creatures. Galadriel moved along, cutting through any one of the creatures in her way. The crew followed in pursuit, one after another, the creatures fell. But it seems that wasn't all that the depths had to offer. Large claws landed on the front of the ship, pushing the front down. Emerging was a large creature similar to those which boarded the ship. It's skin was more rough, it was almost the size of the ship, just a little short of it. Mira's breath caught as she stared at the creature "Not another one.."
