The story starts during the darkest days of World War III.
Earth, once full of life, is now an empty shell. Governments have fallen, and borders no longer exist. The war has torn humanity apart so much that, for a time, there were no countries. Cities that once had hope are now ruins, buildings have fallen, and streets are empty. For the first time, humanity was destroying itself. The war became a brutal fight—humans against humans, countries became enemies, and even families turned into foes, fighting each other. People lost trust in one another.
Then, another unimaginable event occurred. The person behind the war, who had planned it all and knew it would end in destruction, added one more horrific fate for what remained of Earth by setting off the time bombs. Nuclear warheads exploded around the world, destroying what was left of civilization. The Earth's surface was destroyed, no longer livable, no longer a home. The Earth had turned against them. People were now helpless. They couldn't grow food, clean water, or even breathe. The land that used to be rich and fertile had become a wasteland.
The rich, who had always used their wealth and technology to protect themselves, believing they could survive the madness due to their privilege, now faced the hard truth: they were just as vulnerable as everyone else.
Desperation set in. Humanity split into two plans.
Some tried to escape to space, hoping to leave the destruction behind and start fresh on another planet, if one even existed.
But one wealthy person saw things differently. While others focused on leaving Earth, this person, feeling responsible, decided to take another path. Instead of running to space, they chose to hide underground, vowing to rebuild on the Earth they once called home and to protect whatever parts of humanity they could. They asked the world's best geologists and meteorologists to help build an Underground World—a massive, self-sustaining dome beneath the Earth where people could live safely, away from the chaos above.
Both escape plans started in secret, hidden from the chaos above. Both believed their respective plans would be a refuge for mankind, a way to rebuild humanity from the ruins. They knew the Earth was dying. But as the war raged on, the plans couldn't stay secret forever. The remaining factions—those still fighting for power—tried to destroy any chance of survival for everyone else. Time was running out, as their destructive actions threatened to wipe out any hope for the future.
The countdown to escape began, and the day arrived when the last chance to make both plans work and leave Earth's surface would begin.
As the final moments came, those who hoped to escape to space watched as their dreams of a new life crumbled. The launch of their ships was filled with uncertainty, while deep underground, the doors to the Underground World slowly started to close, trapping those who had chosen to stay and rebuild below the surface.
Above, the world turned into a silent radioactive wasteland, its future sealed, uncertain whether in the stars or in the shadows below.
The choice was made: leave for the stars or take refuge beneath the dying world. But both choices led to the same harsh reality: the real horror wasn't just the destruction—it was realizing that the world was ruined by its own creations, and humans no longer controlled their own fate. As the world above burned, the sky faded, and the world below sealed its fate, one question remained: Can humanity survive? Will they adapt and thrive, or will they become a forgotten race, lost beneath the Earth or scattered among the stars?
