The stone door creaked and fell back open and there descended a winding staircase down into darkness. A thin, eerie draught floated upwards and in the distant background there could be heard snarling animals.
Yami exhaled. "Standard dungeon procedures. defeat the boss and go to the next floor."
He gave his scythes a spin before sending dismissing them into black mist. His Dual Reaper skill had been nice, but after this fight, he could feel pressure on his physique. He had to keep his stamina in line.
He placed his hand across his chest, upon which Boss Soul had permeated. The energy still felt alien—the rapidity in movement, the uniqueness in reaction time. Yet there remained another sensation…
A new resource waiting to be exploited.
Guess I'll have to do it later.
With that, he exited, proceeding down the steps. The lower he went, the colder air he felt.
Then, suddenly—
"System Update."
Yami froze upon hearing in his head the voice of the god.
"Congratulations. Your strenght has reached the requirement."
"Reaper's Will has unlocked a new skill."
A black screen appeared infront of him, and letters flashed in glowing lights before his eyes.
[New Skill Acquired: Phantom Step]
• Effect: Allows the user to phase through attacks for a few seconds.
• Cooldown: 5 sec.
• Warning: Does not block divine or holy attacks.
Yami's eyes sprang open in surprise. "Wait. Seriously, I can phase threw things now?"
A grin had spread across his face. Now this is awesome.
He flexed his fingers, feeling the new ability settle into his instincts.
Just in time, as it happened—to be precise, for as he reached bottom there came a lunge out of darkness at him.
SNAP! A massive centipede-like monstrosity clawed out of darkness, mandibles snapping down across space in Yami. Yet instead of being ensnared,
Yami vanished.
A second later, he came back behind the monster in one piece.
"Oh yeah," grinned Yami, activating his scythes. "Gonna have fun with this."
