Hank had gone over to Chelsy's apartment after hearing that a secret admirer had sent her a bouquet of red and pink roses.
He wanted to see her and probably ensure no one would steal her affection away.
When he got there, he had noticed Kyle harassing Chelsy, and threatening to make life a living hell for her if she didn't accept his proposal.
Hank was boiling with rage, ''How dare that jerk lay his filthy hands on my woman? Gina, I want you to find out who Kyle Hastings is, and all there is to him.'' Gina, who was sitting in front, turned her head and replied,
''Boss, Kyle Hastings, works for Daniel. He is the head of the public relations department. I have also checked with prime floral, it shows that Kyle Hastings is the same person who had sent Miss Powers the bouquet of roses.''
When Hank heard this, he clenched his fist and said, ''Asher, take me home.'' Asher nodded and drove Hank back to his penthouse.
It was a new week, and Chelsy had woken up that Monday morning not feeling too well. She had woken up with a fever.
''Oh my goodness. Please not now. I can't feel unwell right now.'' Chelsy muttered to herself with her face exuding pain and discomfort.
She got out of bed and tried standing up. Her knees were very weak, and she fell back on the bed. Her eyes became blurry, and she had a sharp pain in her head. She took a deep breath and picked up her phone.
She tried dialing Erica's number, but her eyes were too blurry to see her phone's screen. She dropped the phone and decided to go back to sleep.
Back in the office, Erica and everyone had come to work as usual. When they got there, Chelsy's seat was empty.
Chelsy was known for her punctuality and time consciousness. She was always at work fifteen minutes early before everyone. It was already nine in the morning, and Chelsy was still not at work.
Erica turned and asked the rest of her team, ''Hey guys, has anyone seen Chelsy today? She isn't at work, and this is so unlike her.''
Cleopatra agreed with Erica. ''True Erica. Chelsy is always the first to come to work. It is nine am, and she still isn't here. I hope she is okay.''
Erica couldn't wait anymore, and took out her phone, and placed a call to Chelsy. It rang for sometime before a faint voice came over the phone. ''Hello. Please, who is speaking?'' Chelsy spoke with a dull voice. Since her eyes were blurry, she couldn't make out the caller.
''Hey Chelsy. It's Erica. Are you okay? Why aren't you at work already? Is everything okay with you?''
Chelsy gave a slight cough and said, ''Hi Erica. I am not feeling too well. I couldn't make it to work today. Please, can you tell the head of department that I can't make it to work today?''
Erica replied, ''It's okay Chelsy. I will let him know. Just take care of yourself, okay? I will check on you later after work.''
She ended the call and said, ''Chelsy isn't feeling too well. I guess I have to inform Mister Hastings. But I haven't seen him since morning either.''
Nicole, who had been silent, spoke in a condescending manner. ''It wouldn't surprise me if that lowlife is faking being sick, just to spend more time with Mister Hastings. If not, tell me why both of them decided to be absent on the same day.'' She gave an evil smile and turned back to her computer.
''Listen, Nicole, I hope you know that is actually defaming Chelsy's character. This mouth of yours will one day send you to jail.'' Erica spoke with an angry tone and went over to the Human Resource.
When she got into her office, Becky was working on her computer. When Becky saw her, she said with a smile, ''Hey Erica, come in. It's been long since you came to my office. How can I help you?''
Erica smiled back and said, ''Greetings Miss Anderson. I am here on behalf of Chelsy. Since Mister Kyle was not in his seat, I decided to go to you.''
When Becky heard this, she had a worried look on her face, ''Is Chelsy okay?''
Erica shook her head and replied, ''No miss Anderson. Chelsy didn't come to work today, due to ill health. So I will check on her later after work.''
Becky looked at Erica and said, ''Thank you for telling me Erica. I will take care of this. You can go back to work.'' Erica thanked Becky, and went back to her work space.
Becky picked up her phone and dialed Daniel's number. When the call got connected, Daniel answered, ''Hey Becks, what's up?''
Becky and Daniel were good friends. They both graduated from the University of Leeds together. So, when Rivers Holdings was created, he asked her to come work for him as his Human Resource.
He had asked Becky to report anything related to Chelsy back to him. ''Hey Daniel, I am good. You asked me some days back to report anything related to Chelsy, right?''
Daniel said yes, ''Is she in any form of trouble? Or is anyone bullying her?''
Becky gave a little laughter and said, ''Come on Daniel. Chelsy can't be bullied by anyone. She can take proper care of herself. She is feisty. Anyway, she didn't come to work today. Her colleague left my office a few minutes ago, saying she wasn't feeling too well.''
Daniel was a little worried, and said, ''Thanks for letting me know Becks. We will catch up later, okay?'' Becky said okay and ended the call.
Daniel took his phone and dialed Chelsy's number. The phone rang for a long time, and there was no response. He decided to call Hank.
Hank was already in his office, working on some documents for his trip to Manchester the next day. When he saw Daniel's call, he answered with his usual cold voice. ''What is it Daniel?''
Daniel couldn't believe his ears. ''H, did you wake up on the wrong side of your bed? Why so grouchy mate?''
Hank's lips curled up in a smile, ''I know you always call me at this time whenever you have an issue, or you need my help with something. So tell me, what is it that you want this time around?'' Daniel replied, ''Touché H. But sorry to burst your bubbles. This time around, I am calling in regard to your little Miss Mountain fairy.''
When Hank heard Daniel mentioning Chelsy, he became alert, ''What's wrong with Chelsy? Is she okay?''
Daniel took some seconds before replying. ''Your little Miss mountain fairy didn't come to work today. She isn't feeling well. I tried calling her a couple of times, but she didn't answer. I hope it's nothing serious.''
When Hank heard this, he dropped the call. Daniel couldn't help but smile. ''That is the power of love.'' He muttered to himself with a big grin plastered on his face.
When Hank had ended his call with Daniel, he called Gina into his office. When she came in, he said, ''Gina, ask Asher to get the car ready. We are going to Chelsy's apartment right now.''
Gina nodded and they both went outside. When Hank got to Chelsy's apartment, he knocked on the door a couple of times, and there was no response. He forced the door open, and walked into Chelsy's living room.
Her living room was small, but very clean and well organized. He called her name twice, but there was no response.
He walked into her bedroom, and found her lying on the bed looking so pale. There was a frightened look on Hank's face. He rushed to her bedside and asked, ''Chelsy, can you hear me? Are you okay?''
He placed his hand on her forehead, and she was burning up. ''Oh my goodness. Chelsy, you are burning up.''
He lifted her up and said, ''Gina, call doctor Montegue immediately. Tell him I am coming with Chelsy.''
Gina immediately called the doctor and asked him to be ready.
Hank rushed with Chelsy in his arms, carefully walking down the stairs, and into the car. When they were inside the car, Hank held Chelsy in his arms. Her fever was getting worse. She started crying and speaking in French, ''Please, don't leave me. Please, mama, don't go. Please, papa come back.''
As she spoke she held tight on to Hank's shirt.
Hank caressed her hair and replied in French. ''Don't worry, I won't leave you. I am right here.'' He asked Asher to hurry up.
When they got to the hospital, Chelsy was still holding Hank's shirt so tight and didn't let go. Her face was pale, with white tear lines left on her face. Hank placed Chelsy on the stretcher, and Doctor Montegue and his team wheeled her into the emergency room.
They started working on her immediately.
Hank was seated outside the emergency room, waiting for the doctors to come out. About one hour later, doctor Montegue came out and asked Hank to follow him to his office.
When they got to his office, he asked Hank to sit down. ''Mister Fitzwilliam, your friend is fine now. She suffered from dehydration, inadequate sleep and poor nutrition. We have given her some drugs, and she will be fine by tomorrow. She needs to rest well and eat proper food.''
Hank could feel a wave of relief blow through him. He let out a big sigh and said, ''Thank you, Doctor Montague. Can I see her now?''
Doctor Montague replied with a nod. ''Sure, Mister Fitzwilliam. You can see her now, but you have to be quiet so that she can rest properly.''
Hank stood up, shook the doctor's hand and went to Chelsy's room. She had been changed into a hospital gown.
Hank walked to her bedside and sat on her bed. He caressed her pink cheeks and said in a low tone, ''My little fairy. I can't believe I am seeing and touching you right now. I promise never to let you go again.''
As he spoke, Chelsy fluttered her eyes. She spoke with a very faint voice, ''gancarnagh! You came back.''
As she spoke, she placed her hand on his that was on her cheek. Before Hank could respond, Chelsy went back to sleep. He gave a smile and pushed the loose hair that was on her face. ''Yes my little fairy. I came back, and will always be here.''
