It had been a couple of days since Chelsy had returned from the hospital. She was already bored and tired of staying at home. She really wanted to go back to work. ''Thank God tomorrow is Monday, and I can resume work. I didn't know that staying at home for a whole week could be so stressful.'' Chelsy spoke with her eyes glistening with excitement.
Her face suddenly turned sullen. She thought of Hank, and realized it had been more than four days, he had texted her. The previous day, she had sent him a text, asking him if he was okay and if everything was alright with his trip. But there had not been any response from him. ''I hope he is okay, and everything is fine with him. But why am I this worried about him anyway?'' Chelsy asked herself.
She remembered what Ken had done to her. How he had ghosted her for almost a week, and was spending time with Helena. Chelsy gave a little slap to her forehead and said, ''You are such an idiot Chelsy. Did you for once ever think this gancarnagh could have a wife or girlfriend, or even be engaged to another woman?''
She stood up and decided not to think about Hank anymore. ''Anyway, I guess he was just repaying my kindness, and what I did for him in the Halo mountains by helping me, and taking care of my hospital bills. We should be even now.''
Chelsy had been putting too much meaning into Hank's kindness, and expecting too much attention from him. She made up her mind not to be stupid the second time, and chose to focus her attention on something else. She walked into her room, and decided to sort out her outfit for the next day.
It was the next day, and Chelsy woke up with so much energy and pumped up. She was quite excited about going back to work. She went into her bathroom, and took a quick shower. She decided to dress in bright colours that day, ''wearing bright colors always brightens one's day.'' She murmured to herself with a beautiful smile plastered on her face.
When she was young, her mom would always tell her bright colors brightened people's moods. So the brighter the colour, the happier people will be.
Chelsy picked out a bright yellow floral shirt and long black trousers. Her hair had grown longer since her last trim. She tied it in a bun, and looked truly beautiful. Chelsy admired herself in the mirror and smiled. She looked at herself one more time, and said her morning affirmations. ''Chelsy, you are amazing, you are great and you are fabulous. This day will be a great day.''
She picked up her office bag, and left for work. When Chelsy arrived at her office, her colleagues were so elated to see her. ''Hey Chelseee.'' Cleopatra rushed and gave Chelsy a hug. ''You don't know how much we have missed you.'' Chelsy had a very lovable personality. Her soft and kind personality made people comfortable around her.
Erica, who was standing too, snorted. ''Cleopatra, you are only excited because Chelsy is back, and will help you with your difficult tasks.''
''Erica, why are you such a kill joy?'' Cleopatra retorted. The four teammates burst out into hysterical laughter.
''We have truly missed you Chelsy. Welcome back. It's really been so cold in this office without you. We are just so happy you are well and back with us.''
Chelsy, who was overwhelmed, looked at her teammates and said with a warm smile. ''Thank you so much guys. I have missed you all too.''
Chelsy moved over to her seat and started going through the work she had missed for a whole week. It was lunchtime, and Chelsy had buried herself in her work.
''Hey Chelsy, it's lunchtime already. Aren't you going for lunch?'' Erica asked.
''Erica, I guess I have a few more minutes to finish what I am doing. After I am done, I will go. You guys can go without me.'' Chelsy replied with a smile.
As the team were leaving the office, one of the receptionists walked up with a black bag, containing a thermos flask.
''Miss Powers, you have a delivery from someone. He says you will recognize it once you see it.'' Chelsy, who was surprised, walked up to her and collected the bag. ''Thank you.'' She told the receptionist.
She indeed recognized the thermos, and there was a smile on her face. She knew Nathan had delivered the meal, because he did that every day.
The smile that was on her face suddenly disappeared when Cleopatra, the nosey Parker, rushed to her side with an inquisitive smile and asked. ''Chelsy, I saw the radiant smile on your face when you saw the delivery bag. So tell us, who sent you this lovely lunch pack?''
Chelsy just looked at Cleopatra and responded, ''No one you know of. Anyway, I guess I am hungry now. Let's all go to the canteen and have lunch.'' Erica smiled at Chelsy with a smoldering look and said, ''But Chelsy, I thought you said you wanted to finish what you were doing first. The person who sent you this bag must truly be someone special.''
Chelsy just shrugged her shoulders and said, ''I guess now, I am starving. Let us go guys.'' They all smiled and went to the canteen and had their lunch.
When they returned from the canteen, Chelsy went to the bathroom to freshen herself up. While in the bathroom, Nicole stepped out of one of the rooms. She walked up to the sink where Chelsy was standing. She gently washed her hands and dried them with a towel.
Chelsy knew Nicole was an embodiment of trouble, and had behaved as if Nicole wasn't there. Nicole gave an evil smile and said, ''Chelsy, you are so good at hiding your true identity. And to think you were this naive, innocent girl you have been portraying yourself to be.'' She gave another evil smile and continued. ''You know what? Nothing can ever be hidden under the sun. I know about everything you did back in Wolverton.''
She walked closer to Chelsy and whispered in her ear, ''Social climber and cheap escort. I know who you truly are. I will make sure everyone in this office finds out who you are and what you have done. And do you know the sweetest part of this whole show? I will start by showing those pictures to Mister Daniel. Then I will see what he will think of you. Your end has come, Chelsy.'' Nicole gave an evil laughter, and walked out of the bathroom. Chelsy stood there frozen, and couldn't utter a single word.
