Chapter 42 - Unwanted Guest

Chelsy had returned from the hospital. Hank had sent his butler to bring Chelsy food every day until she got better. She had been contemplating whether she should send him an appreciation message or not. She gathered her courage and sent him a text.

She closed her phone and couldn't sleep. She kept checking on her phone to see if Hank had replied, but there was no reply. It was already past midnight, and Chelsy decided to go to sleep.

Meanwhile, Hank had just returned from a business meeting with some of his foreign partners. It had been an exhausting day for him. He went in and took a quick shower. He didn't have the energy to check his phone. He went straight to bed. The next day, he woke up quite early as usual. He decided to check his phone to see if he had any missed calls or messages. When he checked his phone and saw Chelsy's message, his happiness knew no bounds. Exuberance bubbled inside of him. Exhilaration flashed in his eyes, dilating the pupils of his eyes to the size of two teacup saucers.

''Oh my goodness. My little fairy sent me a message.'' He mumbled to himself with a broad smile plastered on his face.

He checked his time, and it was seven in the morning. He replied to Chelsy's message, and scheduled it to be delivered at around eight o'clock in the morning.

He thought Chelsy would still be sleeping, and thus, he didn't want the notification sound, waking her up. Hank was so considerate.

After sending the message, he took his coffee and headed out of his hotel room. He met with Gina, who was already waiting for him in the corridor. ''Good morning boss.''

Hank, who was normally not known for small talk and unnecessary interactions, gave a smile and said, ''Good morning Gina. Let's go sign these deals.''

As he spoke, he majestically walked ahead, while Gina followed behind him. Gina was surprised, but not all surprised because, ever since Chelsy came into Hank's life, her boss had become more human. He smiled and sometimes even complimented her work. Gina smiled back and replied, "Sure boss." They walked to the elevator, and down to the front of the hotel, where a luxurious car was waiting for them. They got into the car, and drove off.

Back in London, it was already nine in the morning. Since Chelsy had slept late, waiting for Hank's message, she got up quite late as well. She felt well rested and walked to the bathroom. She took her time in the shower, and felt quite energized.

When she was done, she went in and picked up her phone to see if Hank had replied to her message. Lo and behold, he had.

A flash of excitement was eminent across her face.

She hurriedly opened the message, and it read, ''Hello my little fairy. I am so happy to read from you. Today is indeed going to be a great day. Sorry I couldn't reply earlier. Yesterday was quite exhausting, and I didn't have the time to check my phone. I have to go now, but will check on you later. Take care of yourself, and remember not to skip your meals.''

Chelsy's faced turned red when she realized Hank had called her, 'his little fairy.'

''What are you doing, Chelsy? Stop putting meaning into everything. He is just being kind because you helped him back at mount Halo. Don't expect anything from him. Remember to guard your heart, you this little idiot.'' Chelsy reminded herself.

She went into the kitchen and made some toast and eggs for breakfast. The weather was great, not too hot nor cold. Chelsy decided to take a walk around her neighborhood.

As she stepped out of her building, she saw someone she wasn't expecting standing in front of her apartment complex.

''Mister Hastings? What are you doing here?'' Chelsy asked Kyle, with her eyes depicting surprise.

Kyle, who stood there, looking disheveled and unkempt, walked up to Chelsy, and said, ''Chelsy, I know what I did to you that day wasn't an ethical thing to do. It was stupid and foolish of me. I know I messed up. I let my emotions take the better part of me, thus making me act out of character.

Please, Chelsy, help me beg your boyfriend to uplift the ban he placed on my name. With such a ban, no company in London or the surrounding towns can employ me. If I knew he was your boyfriend, I wouldn't have messed with you. Please, Chelsy, I am begging you.'' Kyle whimpered as he pleaded with Chelsy.

Chelsy was taken aback by what Kyle had said.

''What are you talking about? What boyfriend?'' She asked with mouth wide open.

''Chelsy, I promise never to disturb your peace ever again. I promise this is the last time I will ever show my face before you. Please, just help me beg your boyfriend.'' As he spoke, he spun around and walked back to his car. He ignited his car's engine and sped off in the alley. Chelsy was still in a state of shock. ''What boyfriend is he talking about?'' Chelsy mumbled to herself with her face full of both surprise and confusion.

Flashback to the day Hank had gone to Chelsy's apartment and witnessed Kyle harassing her. On his way home, he asked Gina to bring Kyle to him. The next day, Kyle had woken up and did what he normally does on Sundays; which was going to the tennis court.

Before he could enter the court, two men grabbed him and shoved him into a van.

He was locked up in a brightly lit room. As he sat there wondering what he had done, or why he was locked up in that room, he could hear footsteps approaching the door. He shouted, ''Is anyone there? Please help me. Why did you lock me in here? Somebody answer me for God's sake.''

Suddenly, the door swung open, and the two men who had apprehended him earlier, grabbed him by the elbows, and pulled him out of the room.

On their way, he struggled to break himself loose from the two hefty men holding him. ''Let me go you dumb heads. You don't know who you are messing with. You have no idea who I work for.'' The two men didn't seem moved by Kyle's threats.

They pulled him like a sac of potatoes into another room.

Hank, who was dressed in his usual well-tailored gray suit, was sitting on a chair with his legs crossed, and his piercing blue eyes staring at Kyle.

When Kyle saw him, he recognized him at first glance, because he had seen Hank the day he visited Daniel's office. Kyle stuttered and said, ''Mister Fitzwilliam. Greetings sir. What an honor. If you wanted to see me, you would have just said the word, and I would come running. What can I do for you sir?''

Hank, who had been staring at Kyle without uttering a single word, finally spoke up with his voice deep but very dangerous. ''How dare you mess with my woman? Didn't your parents teach you not to take what isn't yours? Were you not taught never to place your filthy fingers on a woman?''

Kyle knew Hank was someone he couldn't bear to annoy. Kyle was confused and asked, ''But Mister Fitzwilliam, I have never imagined nor thought of taking whatever is yours sir. And who is she, if I may ask?''

Gina, who was standing by Hank, replied, ''Does the name Chelsy Powers ring a bell in your head?''

When Kyle heard this, he immediately froze in the position he was standing. He could feel a cold sweat forming on his forehead. He knew he was totally and completely finished. He stuttered and said, ''Erm, Mister Fitzwilliam, I didn't know she was your woman. If I knew, I wouldn't have bothered her. Please forgive me sir. I promise never to bother her ever again.''

Hank just looked at Kyle and said, ''You indeed messed with the wrong woman, and you will never bother her again, because you won't live to see another day.'' He stood up, and walked out.

''Please, Mister Fitzwilliam. Please don't kill me.'' Kyle cried and begged as Hank left the room.''

Gina asked the men holding Kyle to let him go. The men holding Kyle released their grip on him, and he crashed down with a loud thud.

''Thank your stars, no part of your body was broken. If I were you, I would have preferred Mister Fitzwilliam to torture me before leaving as a form of punishment. Him leaving without you having a scratch, means your punishment will be far worse.'' Gina told Kyle as she turned and followed Hank.

Kyle, who sat down whimpering like a rain-soaked dog, was still in a state of shock.

While on their way back, Hank asked Gina to ensure Kyle's name was banned from all corporate jobs in London and surrounding areas. Hank was still being nice and didn't want to completely ruin Kyle. Because if he wanted, Kyle had a lot of dirty skeletons in his cupboards which he would have used to get him arrested and locked up in jail for a long time.

Gina nodded and said, ''On that boss.''

He took out his phone and placed a call to Daniel. ''D, I would want you to fire Kyle Hastings with immediate effect.''

Daniel was a little surprised and asked, ''H, what did Kyle do? He is a great staff member who does his job well.''

Hank spoke with a low but dangerous voice. ''Daniel, do you even know what your so-called great staff does to his subordinates? He uses his power to trample on others. He even went to the extent of harassing Chelsy.''

Everyone who knew Hank knew he was someone who didn't tolerate any form of bullying, most especially among the people working for him. Daniel was surprised to hear that Kyle had harassed Chelsy.

''What? He did that? Don't worry H, I will ensure he won't go Scot free, okay?'' Hank ended the call without saying goodbye.

Daniel's eyebrows furrowed, and he muttered to himself, ''How dare that jerk harass a lady in my company? I will ensure he pays for this.'' He knew that whatever Hank said was true. Hank was someone who was very diligent in whatever he did. If he said someone was guilty, it meant that person was definitely guilty.

He picked up his phone and dialed Rebecca Anderson, ''Hey Becks, can you please come to my office?''

Rebecca, at the other end of the line, said she would be there. It took about five minutes, and Rebecca arrived at Daniel's office. ''You sent for me.''

Daniel asked her to sit down. ''Becky, please, I need you to tell me the truth. Have you heard any rumors of Hastings harassing his female colleagues?''

Rebecca was someone who wasn't cut out for gossip. She was someone who mined her business and didn't get involved in private matters regarding others. She took a deep breath and said, ''Daniel, you know I don't get myself involved with office gossip. But as a friend, I can only confirm to you what I have seen, and not what I have heard. Yes, I have heard rumors about Kyle going for the beautiful women in his department, especially the new ones. That is all I can say.''

When Daniel heard this, he clenched his fist and muttered to himself. So he actually harassed Chelsy.''

He lifted his head and said, ''Becky, I want you to serve a termination letter to Hastings. The reason should be misconduct.''

Rebecca nodded and said she would do that immediately. She bid Daniel goodbye, stood up, and went back to her office.
