"Finally, I can make a difference"
The auditorium was filled with conversation and an upbeat atmosphere. There was positive feeling to the air. Strange thing to see occur considering that there was a world war going on. However, to the people in this room trivial things like war, didn't exist. The secretary general finally ascended the stage and the auditorium fell silent. All attention was now upon the stage.
"Good morning ambassadors of our various great member nations of the United Nations. I have called this meeting today to discuss the state of the world and to find a solution to the crisis that we now find ourselves in. Now to begin I would like to discuss the current state of the United-"
"I think that's a bit of an overstatement Mr. Secretary General." The ambassador of Nigeria stood up and interjected. "This crisis you speak of has made my country flourish. The tension between our neighboring countries is pretty much nonexistent. We are experiencing peace, wealth, and an abundance of natural resources that my country has never had the opportunity to take advantage of without outside influence. I know I am not the only nation that is experiencing such a growth in our country." There was much approval to these words and some applause proceeded. It took a while for the secretary general to calm the crowd and regain attention.
"I understand that many of you are experiencing economic growth at a rate that hasn't been seen in years but the fact remains that we've lost six of our founding members to this war. The fact that this war started so unnaturally is cause for concern, now I would like to start-"
"I for one am very glad that the tyrants that are the U.S, Russia, China, Canada, Great Britain, and India have come crashing down to our previous level. They have been abusing the system in place! Gaining wealth and power at an exponential rate for decades. Taking advantage of smaller countries claiming that it was for 'the greater good'. Don't bring us into your squabbles." More applause erupted from the audience as the ambassador of New Zealand finished his interjection.
"I fully understand that however-"
"Why the hell should we do anything about those deviants? I say good riddance!" Applause and cheering erupted stronger than ever before. Now, this Secretary General was an all-around calm man. A big part of the reason he was appointed to his position was because he was a man that knew how to control his emotions under fire. However, the growing negative emotion of annoyance with being constantly interrupted would make any man finally snap.
"ENOUGH!" The Secretary General struck the table with frightening force. A rare occurrence has finally happened and it silenced everyone in the auditorium. There are very few times that you will see the Secretary General overcome with anger at a UN meeting. "I understand your feelings about the current events and the prosperity that it is giving many of you. However, there are those of us that are still at war. I personally don't give a shit about the casted off nations either, the more balance that our world has the better. However, what you idiots fail to realize that these nations were torn down BECAUSE they were powerful. So, keep amassing wealth and power all you want in your new prosperous nations. I don't give a shit. However, it's obvious that the whole purpose of the United Nations has become a laughing, fucking matter! We are supposed to garner peace with diplomatic relations but an outside influence separate from our many governments has decided to prey on the apex predators and sabotage them. When the time comes that you have grown your country to that level who's to say those hunters won't come for you?" the silence and shock continued. "I can't help but to feel like this is a part of someone's master plan. Weaken them and let others take full advantage of the weakness. This pattern has happened too often for me to see it as mere coincidence. I mean Christ a whole country monarchy 'passed away' in just a couple of weeks! I'm going to need everyone to look at the bigger picture and realize that somebody is out there playing God."
There was still silence. These are all powerful and intelligent men, to be spoken to as if they were naïve children must have really shook their pride. After a couple more seconds of silence and nervous looks, the Nigerian ambassador finally stood up and spoke. "What makes you feel like it's a separate entity from any governments of the world? Why not covert acts of espionage or military operations?" The secretary general step down from the podium with a smile.
"Well, this is the main subject I wanted to present to you all today, I will like to introduce you all, to my chief investigator of our newly reformed Tahara squad. He will answer any further questions about this predicament that we are in."
I stepped forward on stage and looked at the crowd. All eyes were on me, I couldn't help but shrink a little. I've never been good at being the center of attention. I barely passed all of the speech classes I took in college. I had a mental block when it came to speaking to crowds. One on one is where I really flourish. I stepped to the podium and froze, no words would come out of my mouth. There was an awkward silence followed by murmuring and confusion.
"Well BOY, speak!" the Egyptian ambassador finally blurted out very annoyed. Something about being called boy, irked me and finally gave me back my confidence.
"Thank you, ambassador, for your colorful interjection. I will now continue from where our secretary general left off. The reason we believe that the assailants are a separate entity from any world government is because of the patterns of which the actions have been taken." Murmuring and confusion continued. The Australian ambassador now stood up.
"Explain, I think I speak for everyone here that we have not caught any hint of a pattern since the world war began." I smiled a bit. I love the feeling of taking more powerful men to school.
"Well let's start with where it all started with my home country, the United States of America. A powerful country, with the most powerful military in the world at the time. However, by simply taking out the leadership all that power and prestige came crumbling down. With the brain weakened the body suffered and the outcome was war. No point to having the biggest gun when there is hesitancy on where to point it. Sometime later, Great Britain's entire monarchy and leadership mysteriously died off. For the deaths to be so close together and for no one to realize what was happening while it was obviously planned assassinations was no coincidence. Are you starting to see the pattern of taking out the head and watching the body crumble? These Empires have clear succession plans when the unpredictability of death happens. In this instance instead of organized governance and business as usual, the result was chaos. Why was that? Of course, every country has its own intelligence agencies and spies. It's plausible that an unknown country sent their own assets to accomplish this but it's very unlikely." Looks around the room told me that they were far from convinced. The Nigerian ambassador again stood up.
"That sounds like simple military tactics that any government could execute, that doesn't prove that it was a separate entity at all. It sounds like to me that you're making connections that stretches the reality of it all."
"Well then ambassador tell us then, why you haven't used this tactic before to your own enemies?" The ambassador stayed silent and the murmuring died down, all attention was on me yet again. "Better yet, call out the country that is capable of initiating these tactics. As far as I know, all the countries capable aren't here but knees deep in War." Silence and anticipation continued. "The truth is, small countries with weak economies couldn't afford to put this plan into action. It would take time and resources that smaller economic countries like Canada and Mexico, whom took advantage of the U.S weakness, didn't have. If it were a bigger country who had the time and resources to implement that kind of plan, they still wouldn't do it. Probably for the same reason why none of you here would attack another country." A sudden realization came across all of their faces. I'm sure they were all thinking the same thing. Why mess up the profitable status quo? "From our investigation we found that the notorious villain that started all of this in the U.S, Lucius belong to an assassination organization called 'The Company'. They have caused many major and minor world incidents in the past but this time they have gone too far." There were some uncomfortable movements in the crowd. I smiled and thanked myself that I was filming the proceedings. I'll have to take a look at all reactions later. "On your behalf we plan on starting here and bringing the culprits that brought our world to its knees with all this senseless violence and suffering. So please believe in me and my team to bring honor and justice back to the UN." The auditorium erupted with applause. I guess that meant I convinced them enough for them to believe in me. The Secretary General crept behind me with his hand on my shoulder and whispered in my ear.
"Great Job." He then leaned forward to speak into the mike.
