Chapter 28 - Chapter 27: A Quiet Two Weeks

Pov: Sado

A quiet two weeks have passed since I met with Bardock's group.

I'm sitting alone in the largest mountain ridge on Planet Vegeta, watching the two suns hover in the sky. Dancing around each other.

Sitting at the edge of a cliff is quite peaceful. I can see the entirety of Planet Vegeta from it. The royal palace to the slums. Occasionally, a patrol of young saiyans would walk past laughing together.

I would never reveal myself, only watching from a distance. They would never survive on a planet such as Cologne... I think I'm understanding why they dropped me into the void. It's similar to what Leeks ponders about.

They wanted to create me to conquer Planet Apple, sparing thousands of Saiyan lives. Watching them walk in formation, laughing together...Makes me understand slightly more, or maybe they just wanted another weapon.

I clench my right fist, staring at it, until a tone chimmed from my scouter and a message rang out, followed by a sharp click.

"All Saiyan units are to return to Planet Vegeta. Mandatory regrouping under orders from Lord Frieza. No exceptions. This order is final."

This message, repeated twice.

Before finally cutting out. The voice was a cold, tone-deaf. What you would expect from one of Frieza's soldiers. Although it was an odd message.

During my seven years of conquering Planets, Frieza has never ordered a request like this. He usually doesn't care whose here when he arrives. Letting us conquer planets, while he mocks King Vegeta.

I have never been here when he arrived. This is only what Leeks told me. Still, this all felt wrong to me. I took a deep breath until, abruptly, static played through my scouter.

"SCCRRCHH...Hello? " The static paused, revealing a woman's voice.

" Tomika? " I asked, tapping my scouter, speaking.

She let out an audible sigh. " Finally. The communications between our scouters have been down for hours now. Our towers are acting strangely...Even most of our pods don't work, well, some do, but still...It's weird. "

" What do you think is happening? " I asked her. She goes quiet for a few seconds, the typing of her keyboard rippling into the mic before she speaks.

" Well, Frieza's soldiers are blaming a solar flare that happened a few light-years west of our planet. That apparently destroyed one of their radio towers that is located in an asteroid belt. "

" Do you believe that? "

She snickers at me, " No. Not at all. " The typing stops, followed by the sound of a tapping. I listen to her shaky breath before speaking.

" Did Frieza really order everyone back? "

" Yep. " She replies. " He even called back Nappa's squad and even King Vegeta's elites back to the planet. And Bardock has just landed."

" What does he think? "

" No clue. I can't establish contact with him. The only line I could form is with you. "

I go silent, pondering, until Tomika's voice softened and she spoke.

" What do you think is happening? "

My eyes gaze up into the red sky, the clouds swirling a little faster than usual. I let out a low hum. " I think...Something bad is about to happen. I've been having an odd feeling for a while."

Silence.

Tomika and I didn't speak only her typing sped up.

...

" Sado. " Her voice was shaky. " How are you so calm? You and I have the same feeling. I think this might be the end for us. "

" I don't know. Maybe I'll get nervous when I see death rapidly approaching me. " She just chuckles, her typing stops.

" It's as I feared. My engineers are saying the pods were intentionally sabotaged. Some of the wires are cut, while others are missing the wires entirely. "

A loud click rippled out of her mic before she spoke. " I could try to get you a pod. I don't know if any of them work, though. "

" No need. I don't plan on running from whatever Frieza is planning. "

" I figured. I wanted to meet you, Sado, but I would rather die. Then let you see how I look right now. Sweating bullets with my hair as messy as it is. " She says with an obvious smile on her face.

I was about to respond, but before I could, the sound of footsteps rippled out behind me, making me glance back, locking eyes with Leeks walking towards me.

" Do you have the feeling I have? "

" Indeed. I'm talking to Tomika about it." I respond as he stands next to me, as I slowly stand up, looking up into the sky. Closing my eyes, sending a wave of energy shooting out of my body, before opening my eyes.

" Their twelve minutes away from us-

" What?! " Tomika abruptly shouts out from the mic, catching both me and Leeks off guard. Who paused to wait patiently for her to speak again.

"T-The king is dead. " She mumbles.

" At least we got some good news. " Joked Leeks, looking up into the sky. I couldn't help but scoff as I reached up to my scouter, the shadow of Frieza's ship appearing in the red sky.

" Hey. Tomika. He's here... I'll see you later. "

" O-Okay, good luck. Sado. " Without a further word, the scouter clicks, turning off, leaving me and Leeks staring up into the sky by our lonesome.

" What do you think he'll do? Try to fully conquer us? " Leeks just shrugged his shoulders, speaking as the ship inches closer and closer to our atmosphere.

" We're about to find out, aren't we? If this is the end, we'll have to face it head on. "...
