Chapter 22 - The start

Early morning. Emrys was in bed, cultivating. Three hours had already passed since he started until it struck six in the morning. He opened his eyes and immediately felt the increase in his level. His true strength was already at 5th Grade Dragon, while his disguise was still at 2nd Grade Cat. He was ready for the day. He went out of his room and headed straight to the Dining Hall where the official opening of the Guilds Event would be held.

When Heji met Emrys on the way in, he couldn't help but look at the young man. He wanted to wave to greet him, but he lost his courage when Emrys seemed to walk straight ahead and went ahead of him. A lot had changed about Emrys. Heji could feel it, but he couldn't quite tell what it was. It was as if he was a warrior secretly preparing for the upcoming war.

"Good morning, Heji," a friend greeted him. They high-fived and walked together. "Do you know the news?" Heji turned to him with a furrowed brow. "What news are you talking about?"

"Ah, I don't know either. But there's news, and we'll know about it when the Guilds Event opens. Are you excited?" Heji smiled and nodded. "Of course. As Black Dragons members, this is natural for us. And we will be the champions no matter what."

"Wow, the Black Dragons' confidence is still unmatched. You've always been like that, thinking you'll win," a male member from the Gray Phoenix Guild said. He had three others with him, and they were just ordinary members of their guild. Heji smiled. "If you're jealous, why don't you try to beat us in the competition? Don't just talk and get nothing." The male member glared at him and pushed him on the chest. "Just wait, Heji. You won't be on top forever." He left, casting angry glances.

From the second floor, on a balcony, Rein Flamio of the Scarlet Fox Guild and Xin Blades of the White Hunters Guild stood side by side. Both had their hands in their pockets, watching the sun rise from afar. When Xin spoke up about something. "What do you think the news is that the headmaster wants to tell us? Do you have any idea?" Rein shook his head. "I'm not sure what's on that old man's mind right now." They both looked down at the headmaster, who was chatting with guests. "Do you think he'll step down from his position?" Rein smiled slightly and looked back out at the view. "Impossible. He loves his job at the institution. He won't just leave it behind easily."

"Speaking of which, let's talk about something else, Xin." "What's that?" Rein turned to him with a serious face and eyes, making Xin feel a sense of foreboding. "Why didn't you take that kid into your guild?" Xin's expression changed, and he smiled. "I chose three students. It was only fitting. The problem is with you, Rein. You only took two, so that kid was left behind. We don't know if he's still alive or not, thanks to your selectivity."
