Chapter 27 - One-on-One

After Prince Warren sent the teacher away, he remained inside the room.

The room was extremely quiet. Even when the prince tried sensing it, he couldn't pick up even the slightest trace of energy from Emrys.

He smiled with his eyes closed, amazed by the boy's mysterious strength. It felt as if no one lived in this room at all because of how calm the surroundings were.

He had always trusted his strong sensing ability. Even from several kilometers away, he could pinpoint the exact location of the person he wanted to find.

Because of that, he considered himself the most talented Aura Detector in the entire Cerulean Tempest clan.

But that view changed ever since he crossed paths with Valestron. At first, he paid little attention to him, assuming the boy was weak.

But he immediately hated himself for underestimating him. Ever since the first trial of the Guilds Event began, Valestron's aura completely vanished from his detection.

No matter how hard he tried, he could no longer track the boy's location. He was like a ghost—perhaps even a ghost would still be recognizable, but Valestron felt completely gone, as if he was no longer inside the institution.

And honestly, it was terrifying to think about.

"What are you doing here?"

Warren froze from his deep thoughts when he heard a voice behind him.

Standing at the doorway was Emrys, his expression emotionless.

The prince's heart pounded hard. Not once did he expect that the very person on his mind would appear here. And what shocked him even more was that he didn't feel any sign of Emrys's presence until the boy spoke.

Warren was thrilled at this moment. He didn't even expect to find the boy here. He turned toward Emrys with a grin and spoke,

"You truly are amazing, Emrys Valestron. I still can't understand how you're hiding your aura from me so completely."

Emrys simply smiled at him.

"Is that so? I didn't know you were impressed by that kind of deception."

In an instant, like lightning, the prince moved behind him, still wearing a wide grin.

"I really am starting to like you, Valestron. Let me uncover the true nature of the power inside that body of yours!"

He pressed his palm onto Emrys's back, and water burst out from his hand. A massive sphere of water formed from behind Emrys and engulfed him entirely.

It was a Water Ball Prison, a special ability of their clan. And as a 2nd Grade Wolf Cultivator, it was easy for the prince to create and control it instantly. Once inside, the air in your body would slowly run out, and you wouldn't be able to move.

There was magic mixed in the water that could paralyze its target. So when Emrys was fully trapped inside, the prince immediately celebrated his successful capture.

"Sorry, Emrys Valestron. But I'm the one who caught y—"

But he stopped mid-sentence when the boy suddenly turned to face him—from inside the water. Warren's eyes widened. How could the boy move inside that prison?

And on top of that, Valestron's eyes were glowing red as he stared directly at him. Warren hurriedly reinforced the water prison, doubling its strength.

But with a simple snap of Emrys's fingers, a burst of wind erupted from his body, exploding the water sphere and drenching the entire area.

The prince stumbled backward, covering his face as he got soaked.

Impossible. How did he break such a powerful spell?! he thought in disbelief.

Warren leapt down from the corridor. A sudden wave of fear passed through his chest as he glanced up at Emrys from the railing.

If he fought the boy now, he would likely end up like the princess did. That news had already spread everywhere, so he acted more cautiously.

If he were to face Valestron now, he needed support from others.

"HE'S HERE!"

The prince's voice echoed loudly, clearly heard by everyone nearby.

Emrys stared briefly at Warren, who grinned at him.

A moment later, Emrys entered his room and closed the door.

Then he went straight to the window at the back of the building, jumped out, and ran quickly toward an empty path to escape the situation.

But it didn't take long before someone spotted him, and with a simple shout, nearly the entire Guild began chasing him due to their sheer numbers.

"Don't let him escape!" one of them shouted, firing bolts of lightning to paralyze him. But Emrys's movements were agile, dodging everything without slowing down.

The news spread quickly that the target had been found. It reached Lucien, Magnus, Dao, Xin, and Rein. Soon, students from all directions were moving to trap Valestron in the center.

Wherever he turned, they blocked his path.

From atop a tree, Clover reappeared and smiled as he gave Desmond the news.

"They finally found the boy."

Desmond said nothing, disappearing from the tree to head toward the location himself.

When Emrys reached an alley, he stopped upon seeing Magnus's group ahead. Behind him was Dao's group, so he attempted to escape by climbing onto the roof—but Warren appeared there.

The prince tried to capture him again with the water sphere, taking advantage of Emrys's landing. But the boy dodged the prince's hand. Warren's palm struck the ground instead, causing cracks and water to burst along with powerful energy.

Emrys used the opening to kick Warren sharply in the temple. The impact sent the prince crashing into a cracked wall, knocking him unconscious instantly.

Right after that, Dao charged from behind Emrys and created a wall of earth, enclosing the two of them in the narrow alley.

"At last, I've got you alone, Valestron!" Dao said eagerly, ready to fight the boy in the tight space where only the two of them could battle.
