Chapter 3 - The crew

T,O. and Tammy walked around the busy hanger as ships were parked, refueled and repaired. There were two galaxy class jump ships and three regular mining ships.

There were few people walking around the hanger only service station people. Dressed in overalls and and company logos on their backs that was the image of star cruiser in flight with the words Station 1.1. fuell up.

"Hey. Tammy what are you doing down here on your day off?" Cross Mantle said from to Tammy's left.

They turned to see a short around man with bushy mustashe and a vamp pipe out the end of the side of his lips walk up to them with a limp. He was dressed in the same overalls as the crew that were busy refueling star ships but for a leather jacket on as well.

T. O. nodded to him. "What's up Cross? You got any old timers in looking to trade their ships over for storefront or some extra Empiral gold coins?" He said.

Cross ignored him to stand facing Tammy with digital tablet in his beefy hand. "What are you doing here with this drunken punk. I hope your not thinking of taking up with him in anything stupid." He said to her.

Tammy grinned and nodded her head. "I am indeed of thinking of doing a lot of stuff. T. O. and I are going into business together and headed out on the space ways." She said with a grin.

Cross started to turn and say something to T.O. but he gasped when T.O. snatched the tablet from Cross and started reviewing the contents of lists and names of people. His eyes landed on one name and ship.

Cross lifted up a glowing baton. T. O. showed his revolver. They stared at each other.

"Relax. I'm just looking for somebody looking to trade me a ride so I can get out of here. I got a job I need to get to. So calm the down a bit Old Timer." T. O. said.

Cross stared at him. "You got a job? Shit. Who the hell you take up with?" He asked.

"A security company offered me a trial contract and now I'm on retainer. Tammy is partnering up with me as my mechanic." T.O. said looking at the tablet and list of names.

"Shit. You hell hound. Your Daddy would be shitting bricks laughing. They must be paying good money huh? They said you could get a cheap ride?" Cross said.

T.O looked up at Cross who was holding his hand out for the tablet. T. O. gave him the tablet back. "Yeah. They gave me the go ahead. You got somebody in mind I can buy a ride from?" He said.

Cross chuckled. "Yeah. Yeah. Sense you've finally gotten off your lazy ass and climbed out of the bottle I can help you out a bit. Why the fuck are you stealing my best mechanic away?" He said.

"He ain't stealing me away. I wanted to go with him Cross. I'm of age." Tammy said.

"Be quiet, little big girl." Cross said.

T. O. shrugged she asked to roll with me so it is what it is. Ain't nothing else to it Old Timer." He said.

Cross snorted looking between them. He sighed and turned walking away. "I'm come on. I got somebody for you to see." He said in a odd tone of voice.

T. O. And Tammy followed him silently down the hanger to back section. T.O. frowned when he saw an old T-cruiser with silver wings and twin Dorothy jump drive engines on back end.

Tammy made a sound that was a combination of loud snort and creepy scratchy sound. She clapped her hands in delight jumping up and down at the sight of the T shaped cruiser. She ran over toward the ship and she started stroking the body of the ship with affection.

Cross grinned at T.O. "It's an old time cruiser explorer class. I got it as payment back in my old days and spent some time working on it and rebuilding it on my spare time and using it as a means to teach my crew simple star craft repair. Always a handy skill to have in a refiling station and you can charge extra." He said.

"Yeah. How old are the engines?" T. O. asked.

"Five years old. I told you had to have then re built. You a decent pilot? Your going to need to be a decent flyboy?" Cross said.

T. O. sighed. "I'm decent enough." He said.

"You don't sound so sure of yourself. You interested in taking on a druid copilot." Cross said.

"Depends on the total cost I can only get something cheap with the money I have now and the starter credit ranking." He said.

Cross took out a rectangle black device from his pocket and waved a hand at him. "Let me see you badge to check your credit score." He said.

T. O. pulled back his jacket to show his badge. Cross press a square botton on the device and labor scanned the bar code on his badge.

Cross looked at the device as an account profile appeared on the screen. He nodded his head. "Your good. I'll take have your company credit and the other half of what is your pocket on you and throw in the pilot navigator in the package deal." He said.

T. O. Passed over to Cross his gold Empiral coins and Cross nodded waving to the ship. "She's all yours. I'll get you fueled up and I'll send Eddy to you to assist you as your co-pilot for the ship." Cross said and whistled toward one of his crew members to come over and refuel the ship. "What do you want to register the ship's name?" He said.

"Tammo." Tammy said. "What do you think T.O.? You like it right?" Tammy said.

Cross turned to T.O. "What do you want to name it?" He asked.

"Tammo Star." T. O. said.

Cross stared at him. "Damn. I didn't know you were a romantic." He said.

"Screw you." T. O. said.
