Chapter 5 - A reason to live...

T. O. was in the captain's room reviewing his mission log in his captain's main computer terminal. It was a short mission log detailing a charecter sheet of the person. CEO Ryu Gaius Lee. Asia 1.12. Southern Empire Station. Owner and operator of the station and jewels bank. Loan interest 80% due. Investigate sector and investments of target and recover funds for repossession.

T. O. was sitting back in his seat. He looked up to see Tammy walking in with her bag. She stopped and stared at him. She whistled as she walked in and placed her bag next to his bunk bed and took seat on the floor next to the bed.

"What are you reviewing?" Tammy asked him.

"Mission briefing for the first job when we take off and head to the coordination of the target. Is everything set for launch with the druid?" T. O. said.

Tammy nodded. "Yes. Just waiting for you to come by the bridge to Eddy the go. Have you been assigned to kill someone?" She asked.

"No. It's a repossession job. He took out a loan with the company and hasn't been sending back payments for eighteen months now. I have to reestablish the payment system or collect something of value and have it brought to company drop off spot." T. O said in heavy voice.

Tammy shrugged. "The mission seems like a easy enough job to me. What's the catch?" She asked.

T. O. smiled. "The Target's name is CEO Ryu Gaius Lee. He owns the station we're headed to and the security forces that guard it." He said.

Tammy whistled. "So he's a gangster." She said.

T. O nodded his head. "Yes. Very much so. I don't know the politics of the sector either. When we get there we'll have to get more information and the best way to handle the situation and get out without getting blasted by the locals or getting ourselves put into prison cell for an extended stay." He said.

Tammy nodded. "So we'll have to mingle a bit for a few weeks there until we can finish the job. Did you get any details for how the company wants the job done?" She asked.

T. O. leaned back in his seat and gave her a nod of approval. "No. It's my guess they don't know how to handle it much so we'll do what can to get it done. Any questions?" He asked.

Tammy nodded. "Yeah. Why did you take a job with this company? Do you know the history your family has with them?" She said.

T. O. nodded his head. "Yeah. They repossessed my siblings as payment for the debts my father held with them. However, they offered me a job and up front credits to get some fancy digs and some hot iron. Both reasons were more then enough reasons for me to take up with them for a chance at money and building up company credit to get my siblings back." He said.

They both stared at each other. Tammy nodded her head. She got to her feet."Okay. That's all I needed to hear." She said.

T. O. got to his feet and waved her toward the door. Tammy held up her hand. "I'm sleeping in this sleeping counters with you I mean. There isn't any other sleeping counters here. So we'll be sharing the bunk bed." She said.

T. O. stared at her. "Am I supposed to blush in embarrassment or insist you sleep without pants on the ship?" He asked.

Tammy's face flushed with heat in her cheeks."Well asshole. You'll be getting what you want tonight. Let's go launch this bitch off." She said.

T. O. he slapped Tammy on the backside and she moved fast for the door. They walked out the room turned and headed up a short flight of stairs up to the cockpit.

Inside Eddy was waiting checking the console and touching switches. "All systems are ready to go. We are all ready to go. Captain Wales. By your command." Eddy said.

T. O. nodded taking a seat in the captain's seat. "Let's go, Eddy. Take us out easy. I want to see what you can do. I'll help you out if and when you need it. Begin lanuch. Give Cross the signal to open the doors." He said in a voice of pure authority.

"Aye Aye Captain Wales." Eddy said and saluted him.

T. O. sat in his seat. Eddy began to push switches and take hold of duel joysticks on the console. The ship's thrusters and air outside of the hanger was tucked out and the ship began to float.

The ship moved forward at a carefully guided procedure. Eddy was quietly focused in the task as the ship was moved forward toward the entrance of the hanger.

There were guiding flickering lights on the floor of the hanger and walls that helped Eddy guide the ship along. T. O. said nothing. Tammy stood next to him behind his chair with an arm on the top of his chair.

"Is this your first time out?" T. O. asked Tammy.

"I have performed this function before Captain Wales." Eddy said.

T. O. looked at Tammy. Her face flushed but she nodded. "Yes. This is my first time leaving the space station. I was born here and I have been here my whole life." She said.

"You sure you want to leave? I won't be coming back here. I burned to many bridges with what happened with my last job." T. O. said.

Tammy sighed. "I know. But, like I told you before this place is dead. I can't stay here either. It's time to move on. So you can think of this as a way of me using you as a means for me to move on. I-I also want to help you get your kin back if I can." She said.

T. O. smiled. "Eddy. What do you want to gain on this job we're on?" He asked.

"To serve you Captain Wales and be useful. That is my purpose." Eddy said simply.

T. O. touched one of the joysticks in Eddy's hand and adjusted the ship before he let go again. "Your doing a good job Eddy. Take us out and set a course in the computer for the job." He said.
