Chapter 48 - DW: The Mechanic Chapter 40

Once we arrive in the backyard, unlike the others who can't see anything, I can see the ship thanks to my mechanical force. Not waiting for the crew, I walk towards the Time ship and send my mechanical force into it to see exactly what the problem is.

The result was just as I thought: the ship had been sabotaged, and someone had tampered with the Time displacement drive. As for what this does, let's say it's what keeps Time from affecting anyone onboard. What's more surprising is that it was sabotaged in a way that would cause it to fail upon their arrival here.

My only thought was are we having a Wesker situation here, with this in mind I look at the leader of the group than back to the crew " someone sabotaged the Time displacement device, and not your average sabotage they made it so it would only fail when you guys arrived to prevent you all from going back most likely, as for who did it, it would have to be someone who knows the drive like the back of their hand" as soon as I said those words the crew turn directly to the skinniest man among them while said man looks directly at the captain.

As for the captain himself, other may not have noticed buy he did, there are signs of panic starting to show on his face and in his demeanor, meaning that its exactly like I thought a Wesker situation, I hope there is no secret lab creating viruses that turn people into zombies or mutated monsters involved, otherwise things could get bad very quickly.

" I can repair it, but I will need to bring my TARDIS here" The moment I said that, they all looked at me with both admiration and fear before one spoke, "You're one of them, aren't you, a time lord, I mean. We have heard legends about you guys, but we thought you all died during the Time War" I shake my head before I speak "No, there are some who were able to escape Gallifrey, myself included" I don't say much more about the topic still to fresh for me, the Doctor had a hundreds of years to come to terms with what happened, and he still pretends that the War Doctor was not The doctor.

I have had two years, and maybe a few months. One year was the year that never was, meaning I am not sure if I can even count it. After that, I discussed some things with them while keeping an eye on the captain. Once everything was discussed, I headed back to my TATDIS to bring it here, rather than having to walk all the way to it when I need something.

Once I arrive back at my TARDIS, I head to the control console, set my destination, and then release the handbrake, initiating dematerialisation. Thankfully, it's only a short trip; no need for a long flight. It takes less than a few seconds to arrive.

Once the TARDIS has landed, I hit the brake, then ask Ada to begin the production of what I needed, and let me tell you despite me fixing her issue with navigation, she is still a TARDIS that's just over a year old if you factor in the year that Never was, well I guess that means we will grow together than.

With that it was just a waiting game this was the first time Ada would have to make something as complex as parts for a time dilation drive, usually that would not be an issue, since a TARDIS would usually learn, be able to use the time of its growth to learn everything it would need, unfortunately I skipped all that so all Ada got to go on is the schematic and composition information.

After waiting about an hour, Ada has everything I need in perfect condition as well.

The TARDIS would have accelerated learning capabilities if it were to adapt to the futures it sees. There was also a small additional device that prevented tampering. The moment someone tried, they would be zapped with enough electricity to paralyse them, but not kill them.

Alice had just stayed with River the entire time, asking questions about how she knew me. River only said that she was from my future. Alice, however, still tried to pry, but River never budged on her response.

I can only laugh to myself, not even the Doctor can get his future out of her yet, Alice is persistent if anything, but still, no matter how she asks, River will not divulge anything, well, other than her signature words every time the Doctor asks about his future `spoilers`.

Not minding the world for much longer, I get to work on the repairs, while thinking on a method to catch the emotion-eating monster that these idiots let free in a time that has no means of stopping it. It hit me fast: RB-02 would be the perfect solution, although I would need to make a few additions. Due to it being a machine and not a mechanical life form, it does not have emotions, meaning it would be ineffective.

With a plan in mind, I focus on completing the repairs so I can proceed with preparing RB-02 to confront the monster. Luckily for me, it's a relatively easy repair job, so it took me about thirty minutes to both repair and implement the zapper into the drive.

Once finished, I used my mechanical force to communicate with Ada, asking her to create everything I needed to upgrade RB-02. Luckily, the components I need are not as complex as those for the Drive, so they take less than 10 minutes to manufacture.

Once I have all the parts, I call RB-02 out from the TARDIS, which he can do; it's just to do so, he has to alter his external dimensions to get through the door. Everyone present has a different reaction. Take River, for example, she has a surprised look on her face. In contrast, Alice looks calm. As for the Crew of the Time Ship, they look at the thing in fear.

I can guess why River is surprised; it's most likely because in the future, I have either upgraded RB-02 so much that he looks significantly different, or I have a completely different model than this one, maybe RB-03 or RB-04, depending on how far into the future she first meets me. However, I do not doubt that I would not be present for the events of the Demon Run.

Anyway, I start upgrading RB, adding a few tranquilliser darts, as well as a way to shoot them from its mouth. For reference, these darts are strong enough to theoretically knock a god out, not that it's ever been tested, as most gods are just beings from advanced civilisations that visited primitive planets.

The upgrades are added smoothly, and RB is ready to face the monster. Most of the enhancements added were to its armour before it was made of a material that's basically paper in the hands of some sharp claws since I had never intended it to be for combat, but since it's going to fight It need so form of defense otherwise it's as good as scrap against something with even a little combat capabilities.

Once the enhancements were complete, it was time to discuss the actual plan to capture the monster, which meant we would need bait to lure it directly into the path of RB. None of the Time Ship crew would be willing, so that leaves me and River; however, I am not willing to risk changing the timeline yet, so that leaves only me for this.

After a bit of back and forth between me, the time ship crew and Alice, it's decided that Alice and I will be the ones to lure the monster to RB.

As for why Alice refused to take no for an answer, she stated that if I am going, she is. So, in the end, I just stopped arguing; otherwise, we would be here all day.
