Chapter 16 - :Lords of Justice [2]

"An hour ago, we received visitors from a parallel dimension. These individuals resemble us greatly, but they come from a world where things took a different turn."

"Are they here now? Where are they?"

"Yes, they are here. They have been placed in cells inside the tower. They agreed to cooperate to ensure trust."

"And what exactly do they want from us? Why did they cross dimensions to reach us?"

"They say their world is facing a threat they couldn't handle alone. They're asking for our help."

"And are we ready to trust people who look like us but come from another world? How do we know they're not planning something else?"

"That's why they're in the cells now. We are taking every necessary precaution."

"But if they truly need our help, shouldn't we at least hear them out? Their threat might be real."

"Have you spoken to them personally? What's your impression?"

"I spoke with their leader. He seems sincere, but we can't rely on that alone. We need more information."

"So, what's the next step?"

"I'll conduct further interrogations. In the meantime, I want all of you to stay on high alert. We may need to act quickly if their threat proves real."

Everyone nodded at Batman's words.

"Spider-Man, Green Arrow, come with me."

Batman's voice was firm as he directed his gaze toward the cells, prompting Peter to follow him, with Green Arrow at his side.

Before he could proceed, Diana grabbed his arm. Peter turned to her.

"Listen, once all of this is over, we still need to talk about that day… and about you and Nubia."

It was direct. Peter didn't know what to do, but at least he had time to escape it. He hated conversations with women—they always ended badly for him somehow.

"Yeah, of course, Diana, but… uh… I gotta go now. Don't want Batsy to kill me."

Peter dodged the situation as best he could. He could see that Diana wanted to say something else, but he preferred to focus on the current crisis and forget about his personal predicament.

Peter had grown accustomed to seeing versions of himself from other dimensions; this wasn't the first time he had encountered alternate versions of heroes. It was nothing strange to him—just another part of life in the 616 universe.

They arrived at the holding cells where the captured heroes were detained. Batman stood in front of one of the cells and gestured toward it.

"These are the heroes we captured. They agreed to cooperate with us after realizing the danger they're in."

Green Arrow glanced at the imprisoned heroes and asked, "Can we trust them?"

Batman looked at the cells and responded in a low voice, "It's complicated, but if they truly want our help, this is bigger than just a local threat. They claim there are forces capable of influencing other dimensions. We don't have time for doubt."

Peter observed them closely. "Forces that can affect dimensions? That sounds complicated. But if they're telling the truth, we'll need all the help we can get."

Batman approached a cell containing an alternate version of Flash and examined him for a moment before speaking.

"We need answers now. They said they need our help, but if they're deceiving us, we'll find out quickly."

Peter added, "If this is truly an interdimensional threat, as they claim, it's bigger than anything we can handle alone. But if they're hiding something, we'll uncover it."

Batman pointed to another cell. "We won't let them out until we have all the answers. We'll monitor every move they make."

They moved to another cell containing an alternate version of Aquaman. He appeared calm, but there was a seriousness in his voice as he said,

"We're here because we have no other choice. Neither we nor you can handle this threat alone."

Peter eyed him cautiously. "But you've acted in your own interests before. Why now?"

Aquaman replied in a low voice, "We tried to fight this enemy alone, but we failed. This enemy manipulates dimensions. If we don't work together, we'll lose everything."

Green Arrow crossed his arms. "Then why didn't you come to us from the start?"

Aquaman hesitated before answering, "Because we didn't realize the enemy's true scale. When we did, we knew we needed every ally we could get."

Peter turned to Batman. "If this is true, what's our next move?"

Batman's tone was serious. "We need to be prepared for anything. If they're telling the truth, we'll work with them. But we'll stay cautious. We can't trust them completely after everything that's happened."

Batman then looked at the final cell, which held an alternate Wonder Woman. She was calm, but there was tension in her eyes as she said,

"We're here because we have no choice. This enemy is beyond anything we've faced. If we don't work together, we won't be able to stop it."

Peter said, "If that's true, then we don't have the luxury of choice. But we can't overlook any details."

Batman nodded. "Yes, but we'll stay vigilant. There's no room for mistakes this time."

Finally, Batman approached another cell containing an alternate Hawkman. "Tell us the truth. Why are you cooperating now after everything that's happened?"

Hawkman answered confidently, "If we don't, we're all doomed. We're all in the same boat now."

Peter turned to Batman. "If that's the case, we need to work together. But we have to be cautious with every step."

Batman nodded. "We won't let them roam freely. We must be prepared for what's coming."

Batman turned to Hawkman. "When can we move to your dimension?"

"Right now, if you're ready. We need help as soon as possible," Hawkman replied calmly.

"We're already prepared. I'll inform the others to gather in the aircraft hangar. We'll meet there," Batman responded, to which Hawkman gave a firm nod.

The three of them left the detention area. Green Arrow turned to Batman. "Why the aircraft hangar and not the main chamber?"

The answer came from Spider-Man, not Batman. "Simple. Letting them into the main chamber automatically grants them access to most areas of the tower. External rooms, like the aircraft hangar, have limited access."

Green Arrow raised an eyebrow. "And you know that… how?"

Once again, someone else answered—this time, Batman. "Spider-Man built the tower's AI and security systems."

Green Arrow stared at Peter with wide eyes. "Holy crap, I didn't know you were smart. I guess you're actually good at something… Wait, we have an AI in the tower?"

Peter smirked beneath his mask and shot back, "Clearly, it's smarter than you."

Green Arrow frowned at Spider-Man's remark, while Batman remained silent and Peter grinned under his mask at Green Arrow's reaction.
