Chapter 19 - Lord Spider-Man

When the last glimmer faded from Peter's eyes, darkness descended.

He didn't know how much time had passed, but when consciousness returned, pain was the first sensation. His head throbbed, muscles stiffened as if his body had been shattered and reassembled incorrectly. Slowly, he opened his eyes to find himself shackled to a wall, cold as ice, with glowing energy cuffs binding his wrists.

With effort, he turned his head to see Diana, Shazam, and Flash similarly restrained, lined up across from him. Batman, Green Arrow, and Black Canary were unconscious, encased in strange, humming glass cells.

The silence was broken by the sound of approaching footsteps.

"Finally awake, Spidey," said Wally, his voice dripping with mockery. He was flanked by twisted versions of their allies: Dark Diana, Black Lantern Batman, and the ominous Superman in black.

"Let me guess..." Peter muttered, struggling against the cuffs, "You want to monologue your evil plan, right? Classic villain move."

Wally chuckled darkly. "Actually, no need. You've already lost."

Dark Diana stepped forward, her eyes devoid of mercy. "You're nothing but obstacles... your heroic history ends here."

Black Lantern Superman's voice was calm, yet heavy with menace. "This world doesn't need weak heroes. It needs power... it needs us."

He pressed a button on his wrist, and mechanical arms emerged from the walls, each holding a helmet designed to fit over the prisoners' heads.

Flash shouted, "What are you planning?!"

Black Lantern Batman approached Barry slowly, his eyes glowing ominously. "We're just reprogramming your priorities."

Peter's mind raced. The helmets were meant to control their minds. In their weakened state, a physical fight was futile.

But his spider-sense, though faint, was still active.

He noticed the cuffs responded to his movements, adjusting their energy output. If they could adapt, they could be tricked.

He began moving his wrists in subtle, unpredictable patterns, exploiting the cuffs' adjustments. Time was running out before the helmets would be placed.

Diana was already straining against her restraints, muscles bulging as she fought to break free. Shazam whispered incantations, perhaps trying to summon his magic, while Flash focused on disrupting the system with minute vibrations.

Wally ordered, "Initiate the process."

The mechanical arms advanced toward Diana first. This was the moment.

Peter whispered to himself, "Now or never."

With a sudden, forceful twist, he broke free from one cuff. Without hesitation, he shattered the other and launched himself toward the nearest mechanical arm, using his legs to propel himself.

"Stop him!" Wally screamed.

But it was too late.

Peter swung into action, firing webbing from his wrist—his emergency cartridges still functional—and disabled the first arm, then the second.

Sparks flew as the devices short-circuited, giving Diana the chance to break her chains with a mighty pull, followed by Shazam's electric burst that freed Flash.

In mere seconds, the prisoners were transformed into a formidable team of enraged heroes.

Breathing heavily, Peter stood with his allies, his body aching with every movement, but a grin spread beneath his mask.

"Alright," he said, eyeing their twisted counterparts, "Round two."

The room trembled as an explosion of energy erupted.

Peter, Diana, Shazam, and Flash charged into the fray, ready to face the oncoming tide. The odds were against them—outnumbered by the dark versions of their team.

From the shadows, more emerged.

Green Lantern Black, his face obscured by a sinister mask, unleashed blasts of green energy laced with hatred.

Cyborg, his body encased in dark metal, eyes glowing red with deadly precision.

Martian Manhunter Black, his form distorted, skin a deep green, radiated destructive power.

They lined up behind Wally, intent on crushing the resistance.

"Well, this seems a bit unfair," Peter quipped, trying to mask his concern with humor.

Diana's eyes blazed. "Justice isn't measured by numbers."

"Nor by mercy," Shazam added, lightning crackling around his fists.

Green Lantern Black fired a barrage of energy blasts. The team scattered—Flash darted left, Diana charged forward with her shield raised, Peter swung between columns, weaving webs to disrupt their foes.

The battle was chaotic.

Flash moved at near-light speed, distracting Cyborg, who retaliated with energy blasts. Diana clashed with Dark Diana, their swords clashing in a deadly dance. Peter found himself face-to-face with Wally.

"You were never fast enough, Peter," Wally taunted, attacking with vicious speed.

Peter barely dodged the first strike, firing a web at the wall to propel himself away. "Yeah? Well, try hitting me now when I'm really ticked off!"

He unleashed a rapid series of webs, attempting to ensnare Wally.

But before he could land a hit, everything stopped.

A chilling metallic screech filled the air.

Everyone froze.

From the darkened end of the hall, a heavy step echoed.

The sound of black boots striking metal was like a heartbeat in the silence.

A figure emerged, clad in a black suit that was eerily familiar. Gray webbing adorned the suit like veins, and eyes glowing white with cold malice.

It was a dark version of Spider-Man... but he was different—more menacing.

He stood there, poised like a deadly predator, every movement exuding lethal intent.

Shazam whispered in disbelief, "It can't be..."

Wally grinned wickedly, gesturing to the newcomer. "Allow me to introduce our newest asset... Lord Spider-Man."

Peter stared at his dark counterpart, a mix of anger and disbelief in his eyes.

"Really? My evil twin? Couldn't you at least give him a better suit?" he muttered bitterly.

No one responded.

The dark Spider-Man advanced, his movements fluid and serpentine. Before anyone could react, he struck with blinding speed, knocking Peter to the ground with a force that nearly shattered his ribs.

Peter struggled to rise, facing his dark self, who stood silently, awaiting the next move.
