The building began to shake violently beneath Peter's feet, massive cracks spreading across the walls, and the falling debris accelerating. The deafening sound of destruction filled the air, while the ground beneath them fractured.
Peter quickly looked at Lord Spider, who stood firmly amid the chaos, his blank white eyes staring at Peter with eerie silence. There was no time for a fight here, not now.
"I have to get them out!" Peter muttered, ignoring the pressure of Lord Spider. He jumped through the rubble, using his webs to swing through the collapsing corridors, until he reached the room where Green Arrow, Black Canary, and Batman were trapped under the debris.
"Hang on!" Peter shouted, shooting his webs to pull away the massive rocks. Black Canary was barely conscious, while Green Arrow struggled to crawl away, and Batman tried to free himself but was too weak to do so.
But a loud crash behind him made him turn. Lord Spider was approaching rapidly, his webs extending toward Peter, trying to grab him. Peter also fired web balls, blocking Lord Spider's webs from reaching them, then quickly grabbed his allies.
"Get out now!" Peter yelled, leaping with them through the shattered window, using his webs to guide them away from the collapsing building.
In the air, Peter noticed that his allies hadn't yet regained their strength. Perhaps it was because they were human and lacked superhuman bodies to expel the gas they had inhaled earlier.
The three of them were caught between consciousness and unconsciousness, eventually succumbing to unconsciousness, which forced Peter to secure them with his webs.
As they landed safely on the ground, Peter didn't stop. That was because Lord Spider had followed them, leaping from the wreckage like a silent beast, charging toward Peter.
The moment Peter's feet touched the ground, he dashed toward Lord Spider, trying to push him away from his allies so he wouldn't use them as hostages against him, delivering a direct punch to his face.
But Lord Spider dodged, grabbed Peter's hand, and twisted his body swiftly, throwing him toward a shattered wall. The wall crumbled under the impact, but Peter quickly got up, brushing the dust off his mask.
"What strength... Seems like you train a lot," Peter remarked, receiving no response from his evil counterpart. "You're way too silent, and that's worse than the usual villain monologues." Peter muttered, trying to break the silence that was beginning to unsettle him. Dark memories began to surface in his mind. Memories of himself, of those moments when he lost control, fighting driven by pure rage.
But Lord Spider didn't speak. He only charged at him again, his hand transforming into a sharp black blade, courtesy of the symbiote suit covering his body.
Peter's eyes widened in shock at the sight, barely able to dodge the attack, but the blade tore a part of his suit.
"Symbiote? I thought I was in another reality... What the hell?" Peter thought, gritting his teeth.
Yet he didn't let his surprise stop him from reacting, firing his webs to try and bind Lord Spider. But the latter easily sliced through them with his blade, leaping at Peter and attacking relentlessly. Every punch, every strike, carried an incredible weight. Peter now realized that Lord Spider wasn't just an evil version of him but a stronger one, empowered by the symbiote.
Peter took a blow to his stomach, forcing him to step back, the air rushing out of his lungs. But before he could catch his breath, he felt Lord Spider's grip on his neck, lifting him off the ground.
"I... I won't let you win..." Peter muttered, struggling to break free, but the grip was like steel. He used his legs, delivering a powerful kick to Lord Spider's face, but it didn't budge him.
Then suddenly, Peter felt a massive force on his chest. Lord Spider slammed him to the ground, then leaped onto him, using his blade to stab. Peter barely dodged, but the blade slashed his shoulder, pain spreading through his body.
"Enough!" Peter shouted, releasing a wave of thick webs that engulfed Lord Spider, trying to trap him. But the latter tore through them with ease, lunging at Peter again.
Peter avoided the attack and shot himself through the building, his webs swinging between the collapsing pillars. But Lord Spider pursued him relentlessly, moving at incredible speed, his black blade extending toward him, trying to slice him apart.
In a moment of desperation, Peter changed his plan. He shot his webs toward Lord Spider, but instead of trying to capture him, he pulled himself directly toward him, delivering a direct punch to his face. Lord Spider was surprised for a moment, but quickly retaliated with a counter punch, then another, and another.
The blows were crushing. Peter was being pushed back, his body breaking under the weight of the attacks. He saw a ghost of himself in Lord Spider – the same rage, the same terrifying silence. "I'm fighting myself..." Peter thought, struggling to endure.
But just as Lord Spider was about to deliver the final blow, Diana appeared from the sky. She grabbed Lord Spider, and they soared upward together.
Lord Spider tried to resist, but Diana's strength was overwhelming. She lifted his arms and hurled him skyward with unimaginable force, his body disappearing into the clouds.
She landed beside Peter, who was panting from exhaustion, his eyes filled with gratitude and fear. "You... you saved me..." he muttered.
"No time for thanks, Peter. Flash and Shazam are down. We have to get out of here," Diana said, her eyes scanning the surroundings cautiously.
Peter looked at the wreckage of the collapsed building, then at his new allies, or perhaps his old ones... he wasn't sure anymore. But they needed him, and he wouldn't abandon them.
"So... we have a plan, right?" Peter asked, trying to smile.
"Yes, the plan is to retreat and come up with a plan," Diana replied, grabbing Batman and Green Arrow, while Peter carried Dinah, and they rushed away before others discovered and pursued them.
"That's a great plan," Peter muttered, feeling the pain of his injuries from Lord Spider and the symbiote suit.
He still couldn't believe that the symbiote existed in this world. Whatever the case, next time, he would be ready. "I need an upgrade."
