Arriving back at the town of Tempest after the Milim situation Milim looks around excitedly. Complementing us a little about how our town looks we just say thank you and answer her questions. They aren't the most mature questions though.
At the same time I scan around the area for any signs of the other spies. It's a little way too early for events to have changed enough for that to not have happened so I begin to scan around for them. My main target is Grucius. Myulan is too risky to interact with right now. Clayman is watching her so risking him finding out is bad. I have one big plan when it comes to Grucius as well that I need to enact right now.
I tell Rimuru I've got something urgent to do which he is fine with me doing as long as I can't save it for later due to us still having to babysit Milim and leave. Hopefully you can handle it Rimuru, I think as I fly off.
Finally finding Grucius I scan for Myulan. I find her pretty far away, about halfway across the town from Grucius. It seems they split up for some reason. That's good for me, makes my job easier. I sprout my Phoenix Wings, jump off the building, flap my wings to hover for a split second above Grucius as I grab him and take him with me to the top of a nearby hill. The entire time Grucius is panicking.
Once we get to the top of a hill Grucius tries to hide the fact he's a spy saying, "Isn't this uncalled for?"
I smile. Instantly calling his bluff I say, "Pretty bold words for a spy. Isn't that uncalled for?"
He shuts up and goes a little pale. He no doubt thinks I'm going to do something to him.
Crossing my arms and looking at him with an intimidating glare I start off the following conversation saying, "Alright, let's get this started. But first, I need you to never tell Myulan about this."
He looks at me shocked and then calms down a little asking, "How do you know about her? And why should I do that?"
"For the first question, I just do, okay? Don't think I'll give away information that easily. It's confidential, if I gave information like that to every idiot I pass by I would have some serious problems."
He looks down, "I guess that…wait a minute did you just call me an idi…"
"As for the second question, I trust Myulan. From what I got from her she's a pretty nice Majin. However, we have to think about who's behind her here. Clayman is the Demon Lord that is supervising her and I don't trust him. Neither does Carrion if you don't trust me. He's a really big schemer. You can never truly tell what he's planning."
He just stares at me as I give all this accurate information revolving around things I should have no business knowing. He just asks, "Who are you? How do you know this?"
Smiling, I reply, "As I've said, I can't tell you how I know this. As for who I am. I am Migeru Tempest, one of the Twin Rulers of the Jura Tempest Federation."
As he gets over it he finally moves on. "You clearly won't talk so I won't push you on that anymore. For what reason have you taken me here?"
"You'll see in a moment."
He continues, "Do you both know?"
"You're talking about Rimuru right? The other leader and my twin brother. No, he doesn't." Brushing off that question I decide we've been running around the bush for a bit too long, "Well, moving all that past us let's just get right to the point here. I need you to deliver a message to Carrion. You're my free ticket to doing that. I want to talk directly to Carrion. You'll of course need to find an excuse to leave Myulan but I'm sure you can find one."
"Eh!"
I explain that I'm trying to form friendly relations with the country of Eurazania. This would help with his mission as I am willing to give certain information to him for free assuming he takes the deal. After a few minutes I manage to get him to accept and activate [Genius] as I scan him from head to toe to see if he's lying. From what I find he isn't so I bring him back to Tempest and we go our separate ways. Hopefully you bring back results, Grucius.
After we leave I meet back up with Rimuru as he panics over a door Milim destroyed by accident. I laugh a little, commenting, "Looks like you've gotten into quite the situation Rimuru."
A few weeks pass by as I focus on one major thing. Maintaining Milim in check. She's still not very accustomed to the town of Tempest and frequently gets into mischief around the town. Rimuru and I have been in charge of making sure she doesn't accidentally kill someone as a result of her childlike antics.
Due to that I haven't had the time to work on my research very much. I've been staying around Rimuru's side of the two towns for now which at this point have been officially named together as the Twin Capitals. At night I am able to go back and work but having to sneak off when someone is asleep is a clear sign of a problem.
Speaking of problems. I have one that makes keeping Milim in check harder. It's difficult for me to straight up say no, so she gets away with a lot of things. Rimuru says I shouldn't do that, but I still do.
The good thing is, the townsfolk now know who Milim is so no incidents where people call her a child have occurred in a while. That's good.
I think back to an incident that occurred shortly after her arrival right after I talked with Grucius.
(Spongebob Narrator: Flashback)
After I talk with Grucius and my little comment about Milim destroying a door I use [Predator] and [Great Sage] to make a new door and place it back where the destroyed door used to be. Apologizing, we then leave.
We immediately run into Gabiru. Milim immediately points at him and says, "Oh, you're a Dragonewt aren't ya!?"
"Indeed I am! Eh, and who are you runt? Haven't seen you around."
Milims voice deepens as she grunts, punching him in the chest probably instantly shattering his ribs. In a voice closer resembling a gangster than a little girl she says, "Who are you calling a runt?"
Running over to Gabiru I dump a Full Potion on him, restoring him to full health again. If I didn't have that on me he would have likely died. She really is strong. I walk over to her scolding her saying, "Milim, don't do that."
"But…"
"No buts. Do that again and I won't give you any more candy."
She looks at me with tears in her eyes apologizing immediately to me and Gabiru. I can't take it anymore as I watch her almost crying and give in. I give her two more bars of candy as Rimuru in the background tells me to stop doing that.
(Spongebob Narrator: End of Flashback.)
After a short tour trying to avoid possible fatalities we decided to introduce Milim to the people of Tempest. As usual they took the news of a Demon Lord moving into their town really well, praising Rimuru and I for befriending a Demon Lord. It was during that announcement that she said that Rimuru and I were her besties which led to an even larger riot.
Rimuru was shocked by the sudden declaration. As Milim looked at him with tears in her eyes asking if they aren't besties and I shot a deadly glare he immediately confirmed that we are her besties.
After that we decided that to avoid possible accidents we needed to introduce her to the town and how it worked. That's how we became Milim's tour guide for a few days.
The first few days went by slowly. We went to places like Shuna's shop where Milim got caught up in little activities. Crafting, sewing, cooking, even farming although she's really bad at farming. During the visit to Shuna's shop I also got involved as Milim tried on new clothes and I encouraged her. Rimuru eventually managed to convince us to leave though. A little "event" happened in Dwarves' forge though.
After showing her around for a few days we finally decided to personally introduce her to the leaders of Tempest. Many already knew her from the public announcement but we wanted to give the executives an actual formal meeting.
I got her into more casual, normal and less revealing clothes to make it all the more official. As we got everyone important together some were all too well acquainted with Milim. Some had gotten stuff destroyed by her or had to deal with the aftermath of her rampages. Shion had different reasons. For her it was the fact that Milim had taken Rimuru from her for 4 whole days as she took all his attention. Shuna was less affected because in this timeline she's more attracted to me who spends large amounts of time alone and she saw and interacted with me for a solid few hours during our trip to her shop. Others were nervous because she's a Demon Lord but overall there wasn't too much of an opinion on her.
After we explained to them who Milim was and why she showed up in the first place she introduced herself.
(Spongebob Narrator: Flashback.)
Milim gets in front and says, "I'm the one and only Dragonoid Demon Lord Milim Nava, nice to meet you!"
I hear some mumbling from some of the Goblin Lords under Rigurd talk about how surprised they are that one of the 10 Demon Lords could be this "child."
As soon as they said that she instantly gets furious causing Rimuru to panic. He quickly calms her down a little before she can do anything too rash. Rimuru with a sweat mark, which shouldn't be possible because he's a Slime, but anyways. Rimuru with a sweat mark nervously says, "This is Milim the Demon Lord. Uh, we met her a few days ago when she came to meet us. She's been staying here ever since."
I step up saying, "I know her appearance can be a little misleading…" She gets mad which I stop by saying, "I told you not to do this Milim. I was going to give you a big candy after this for behaving but now…"
Hearing this causes her to burst into tears as she begs for forgiveness. After a bit I give up and say, "Fine, I'll forgive you, but just this once." I show her the candy telling her she'll get it if she behaves, "But don't do this again, okay?"
She nods her head as she calms down sitting down on a nearby sofa I made and drooling at the thought of the candy. I turn to look back at the Hobgoblins, "Did you feel her aura? Not that surprising now, huh?
The Hobgoblins who were previously shocked that she could be one of the Demon Lords just nod in agreement now a little scared of Milim.
Souei, unfazed by the recent events in a monotone voice asks, "If I may, what is Lady Milim's relationship with Lord Migeru?"
I reply, "We're friends, or besties as she likes to say."
"I see." He turns to look at Milim who has melted candy on her lips and parts of her dress now and says, "Greetings, Lady Milim. I am Lord Migeru's faithful servant, it is a pleasure to meet you. Please take care of me." Professional as ever.
Milim happily says, "It's a pleasure to meet you too, uh…"
"I'm Souei."
"Souei! Nice to meet you Souei." I laugh a little at how fast she forgot his name.
He smiles for a split second after her response and goes back to the corner he was standing in. The meeting continues as we answer some questions about Milim like where she'll live. I made damn sure she stayed away from my town because having her live in an area where most scientific progress is being done is a little unnerving. One wrong move and months of work could be gone.
Afterwards the town has a feast to celebrate Milim's arrival. At this point this is becoming a nearly weekly thing in Tempest. I have no idea how they have so much material to decorate the town over and over. It's like God himself is airdropping this material to them.
A white flash appears in my sight.
Augh, what the fuck!? This time I wasn't even thinking about it directly.
During the festival I do take advantage of the atmosphere to give something to Milim. Two huge presents. I can see Rimuru shake his head no a little after seeing what I'm doing. I give her the presents.
She asks, "For me!?" I nod yes.
She rips open the boxes and pulls out two huge, blue Slime plushies representing Rimuru and I. I can almost feel Shuna and Shion's wanting eyes as they stare at the plushies. Note to self, make two more Slime plushies.
{Notice- Note to make plushies has been made. At what time should I remind you?}
Oh, you can do that? Great, how about tomorrow morning.
{Notice- Reminder has been set for noon tomorrow.}
Good, thanks.
She walks off with the plushies but never comes back. Eventually I go look for her and find her sleeping on the Slime plushies. They are big enough to let her sleep on the two like a bed. Smiling, I say, "Welp, looks like you're asleep now. It's much earlier than normal.. I guess I can finally work on my stuff again."
