Chapter 24 - Chapter 24: Journey to Blumund

I look around my lab. It's been lonely recently, Milim left a few days ago and regrettably, I wasn't there to see her off. According to Rimuru, suddenly she said she needed to leave. When I heard this while I was a little saddened I knew this might happen around this time. I still can't get over how abrupt the news was.

Anyways, right now I'm in my lab, not to do work, but to get someone to manage my lab for me while I leave. Rimuru decided to take advantage of this rare chance to visit a human country. "The Three Idiots," as he calls them, also came by at around the same time so this just came even more in his favor. I decided to go due to reasons involving a certain "lord" living in the city of Ingracia. Rimuru's planned final destination.

I give control of my lab to Vesta, my main assistant and the second in command of the Ministry of Science behind me. He should be trustworthy enough to handle this job and he definitely has the smarts to achieve great things in my absence. Currently, we are working on several small-looking inventions that will come in handy with improving quality of life.

I put Kaijin as second in command. He's responsible and has a really solid relationship with Vesta. They both moved past what happened in Dwargon and have become close friends. Kaijin is my best candidate for second in command by far.

Of course, before I leave I check in on my Slime Farm for a bit. Everything inside seems to be going well. Let's see how many there are.

{Answer- 48 Slimes have been confirmed to be inside the Slime Farm.}

48, huh. Not a bad number but there can always be more. We still have a few months before my evolution so we still have some time. Hopefully there's a good amount by the time I evolve.

With my check to make sure everything is going well I move on and get ready to leave. Ranryo is currently inside my shadow. I told him to not jump out unless I tell him to just in case as well. I meet up with the idiots and Rimuru and get ready to leave.

We leave pretty early in the morning to cover as much ground during the day as possible. The first part involves walking through the Jura Forest for a while. Now, normally in the original there were Illusion Flowers in the path that made the idiots get lost. Because of this I decided to keep an eye out. After a while I find some just like I thought. Informing the group of my discovery, we get sidetracked as we harvest them. There aren't that many though, only 26 total. Splitting them evenly we all get 5 flowers each, there was an extra which everyone decides to give to me to help with my research. These might come in handy later, you never know.

Monster-wise, not many appear. This is due to the presence of Rimuru and I. Some do appear but they all get one-shotted by either Rimuru or me. Every time this happens I look back to see the shocked expressions the idiots make. They are all hilarious. As for the monster parts, we give them all to the idiots. They aren't particularly useful for Rimuru or me so giving them to them is the easy choice.

One thing that sticks out to me is really how prone to disaster these guys are. I finally understood what Shizue meant when she called them accident prone.

On our first day alone they fell into not one, not two, but three different holes in the ground. They accidentally caused a mudslide which, by the way, killed a nearby Armorsaurus in the disaster. Provoked a Giant Ant nest and fell into a sinkhole. It's supernatural how stupid these guys can be sometimes.

That night we set up camp in a relatively open area. Well, as open as you can get in the Jura Forest. In the camp Eren decides to use Cleaning Magic to make sleeping easier and more comfortable.

{Notice- Analysis complete.

Cleaning Magic has been obtained.}

Rimuru seems to have also obtained the Cleaning Magic through this as he asks if he can help. Trying to clean Giddo with this he accidentally puts too many Magicules in the spell and cleans everything within a 20 meter radius. Dust, fungi, rotting leaves, anything that can be described as unclean vanishes from our area. Interesting, so Cleaning Magic can be used for this as well. It's surprisingly useful for camping now that I think about it.

I brought some meat with me, stored in my [Stomach], so I decide to pull it out and start cooking. The fire is simple with [Fire Manipulation] and [Controlled Airflow]. The two combined make the perfect fire for this. According to them it ends up delicious but to me it's only average. I jokingly say that [Gluttony] fits them better than Rimuru to which they look a little embarrassed about.

Slimes don't sleep of course so Rimuru and I end up keeping watch together. We talk about our adventures and our old lives all night. It's been a while since I got some time together with Rimuru.

Next morning as we prepare to head out Rimuru uses [Gluttony] to gather up all our materials. This is when Eren yells out, "Let's adventure together forever!"

Rimuru simply laughs it off but I actually say I'll consider it. It would be fun and the lab is finally at the point where it can survive without me. A bit of a change of pace from researching and building all day every day would be fun. I've been working for months on end so something fresh like this would be fun. I completed the treaty with Carrion a few weeks ago so I don't even need to be in Tempest for a while.

I've been wondering if I could get some useful skills from monsters for a while now and this would be the perfect chance. When I explain that the idiots look really excited and hopeful. I can definitely see why they would be. They excitedly accept my offer and cross their fingers that I actually go through with it.

After a few days of this repeating we finally arrive at a village nearby Blumund. In this village we stop by for some food. During this quick food-stop I hear someone flexing their power in the background.

An idiot asks, "You actually killed that strong monster!?"

"Ahahaha! Of course! A horned bear is nothing to the great Biddo!"

I watch this from the sidelines as I eat my food. Interesting, I remember reading this, what are the odds we arrive at the same time this idiot does?

{Unable to answer.}

Don't worry [Great Sage], I wasn't asking. Just like in the original the bear isn't a monster. It's just a normal bear with the horns of a Horned Rabbit welded onto it with magic. It's a good lie, without [Magic Sense] on the level of mine this might be hard to spot.

As I watch this Rimuru notices too and a little annoyed from his constant bragging calls him out.

He looks angry as he says, "Eh? A fake!? How did you see through this trick!?"

What an idiot. Didn't even try to hide his lie.

Of course, even giving away that this was in fact a lie they still try to weasel themselves out by saying it was all a test. Rimuru ignores them after this and simply walks away from them. Biddo, embarrassed, can't keep his mouth shut however and attempts to start a fight. After this the idiots step in.

The idiots had been coming to Tempest and taking our extra monster parts with them for a while at this point. Thanks to this they have been ranking up relatively fast. This has made them relatively famous and it's this fame that makes them win the ensuing argument.

I honestly don't care about the aftermath so I just stop paying attention after that. Afterwards the idiots call a ride to Blumund to make the following little part of the journey easier and arrive at Blumund later that evening.

When we reach the entrance of Blumund I decide to put my mask on. I don't wear it very often considering I rarely leave my lab or the construction sites but it'll come in handy here. It's crazy how well this thing can hide my presence.

Entering the city, as we walk through the streets Eren recommends we register at the adventurers guild. In a bit of a hurry to go to Ingracia Rimuru asks why. They explain that due to most cities accepting guild IDs to enter, getting our hands on one will make traveling a lot easier. Good idea, I gotta admit.

I already knew this plus I am also planning to get one to start adventuring. I don't expect much when exploring but some skills and pocket change here and there can't hurt right?

When we arrive at the guild office Rimuru and I are mistaken for little girls which hurts my pride a little. I changed my appearance a little but not too much to still resemble Rimuru and remain a little more comfortable as for some reason my natural bodies "feel" more comfortable in a way. I can't really explain it. However, a side-effect is I look like a little girl in my human form. Not exactly the best situation for me.

Ignoring that, Rimuru and I introduce ourselves and ask to become adventurers. Because we said it at the same time we look adorable to her which causes her to get a little worried for us and recommends we think this over a little bit as nicely as she can say it.

Considering how much they've helped me out I'm going to call them the three amigos from now on. It's more fun to say as well.

So anyways, the three amigos jump in and defend us as the lady in the front desk recommends that we think this over a bit more and claim either one of us could destroy all three of them combined.

Everyone in the guild office goes quiet for a bit. They are weak compared to us but when it comes to humans Kabal's party is pretty strong. Due to this whispering can be hear through the room. I hear things like, "Those two brats can beat Kabal's party!?" And, "I bet they're lying so the kids don't cry." Seriously, do they think we're deaf or something?

{Notice- Thanks to [Enhanced Hearing] it is likely you wouldn't be able to hear them without it.}

I guess you're right [Great Sage] but it is a little annoying they would do this. It gets on my nerves a little. I have a decently strong temper that came out a bit with Phobio. It hasn't really appeared yet thanks to how well everything is going but it's still there. Holding back on punching the people who doubt our strength as we walk to the testing grounds ends up being harder than I thought.

The tests work in a way where they give you monsters to fight and then you have to beat them. For each rank up test they get harder and harder to match the level of the test. When you reach a monster you can't beat, the test is over. Pretty simple.

A guy with no right leg shows up and starts Rimuru's test. Even without a [Genius] analysis I know he is underestimating Rimuru.

The tests begin with anticlimactic results every time. He cuts the head off of every monster with [Water Blade] every single time. That is until the B-rank test where a lesser demon is summoned.

It's body looks like a starving man's body with thin long limbs and visible ribs. It has huge bat-like wings and it has the head of a horned goat with a pentagram on its forehead.

{Notice- Analysis complete.

Demon Summoning has been obtained.}

The fight itself is pretty decent. Better than the Ifrit fight at least. Physical and magical attacks both don't leave noticeable damage which draws out the fight longer than it should've. It's not very strong. After a bit of thinking he decides to use both magic and physical attacks at once leading to him covering his weapon in his own aura. This allows him to cleanly cut through the demon in one move.

{Notice- Analysis complete.

Extra Skill [Magic Haki] has been acquired.}

Huh, quite the decent number of skills and magic I'm getting. As the fight draws to a close however, we hear Fuze behind us and he does not sound happy at all. Looks like I'm finally meeting Fuze and of course through him we'll finally get our third treaty, this time with Blumund.. We're crossing things off the list real fast on this trip.
