The moment the chain broke, Laia attacked. For a very brief moment, the man was blinded by bright white light. He dispelled it using mana and the very next moment he felt his surroundings change subtly.
He couldn't point out what it was but he didn't have the time to figure it out, right before him was Reveria slashing her sword at him.
He immediately pulled his weapon to defend but the contact never happed, her sword just passed through his weapon and his body without ever touching anything.
It was an illusion!
The very next moment he felt a sword pierce his chest and he again dispelled the illusion using a mana burst. Reveria had thrust her sword within his chest and he felt excruciating pain.
He tried to attack her with his weapon but she backed off and he used his dark arts to begin his healing. However, Reveria wasn't going to give him the luxury, in came the barrages of attacks and all he could do was defend while slowly healing.
Reveria had already purified her blood and all poison had been expelled. She had much better control over her body and mind than before.
The man could see it in her eyes, the confidence that she could hold out against him, even though she was a while major stage below him!
He remembered her face full of tension and uncertainty when they had fought before, when her body was weakened.
Even though she not letting her expressions out, as an experienced man who fought many battles against various people he could notice the uncertainty she had regarding her survival earlier.
But now, it wasn't so, she didn't seem to worry about survival anymore. It was as if the difference in their cultivation made no difference at all!
And this angered him, fueled his rage.
He wanted to see a desperate expression on her face, not a confident one. In his anger he released a mana shockwave, thinking it would push Reveria back and he could gain some distance and counter attack using his dark arts.
But something else happened, Reveria absorbed the mana!
He couldn't believe his eyes, she was supposed to be a hater of the dark arts, then how did she know how to absorb it?
In his surprise he gave her an opening and she cut him across his torso.
A long line of blood across his chest and abdomen could be seen.
Reveria managed to damage him again, but she knew inside that her attacks were not doing any major damage.
Because of their cultivation difference, her attacks were not fatal to the man.
Plus because she was weakened, she couldn't use any of her high damage dealing skills.
She was constantly thinking of ways she could kill the man before her.
The man was a manipulator stage cultivator. He could manipulate their very surroundings.
To prevent him from doing so she had locked all her surroundings using a secret technique she knew.
However, the man could overpower her technique if he put in the effort, such was the cultivation difference. But that would take some time and energy that would give her opportunity to attack.
Reveria had thought of all this while locking the surroundings but for some reason the man hadn't even tried to manipulate the surroundings so far. In fact it looked like he hadn't noticed anything at all.
Plus he seemed somewhat weaker for his stage. Reveria continued attacking while continuing observing.
The man was in pain and had trouble defending while healing. He focused more on healing now and let a few attacks through. He could afford that as most of them weren't fatal.
He thought of targetting Laia but Reveria was not giving him the chance.
He then thought of something.
Reveria noticed the change in the man's eyes. He was going to do something,
The very next moment she felt the surroundings she had locked try to break out. It seemed that the man finally tried to manipulate the surroundings but failed.
The man was bewildered by this, the next moment he let her sword pierce him on purpose and then caught her hand with a tight grip and spoke with a wild smile,
"You sure have some interesting tricks up your sleeve, but they won't work bitch!"
A huge burst of mana erupted from his body, for some reason Reveria couldn't absorb it. In fact it entered her body and began eroding it from the inside.
The similar happened to Laia. Laia screamed in pain. Reveria immediately began healing and extended her influence to Laia too.
Meanwhile all the surroundings she had locked up were now freed.
' I must pull Laia into the artifact and escape! Also find Avon before this man!'
Reveria released a burst of bright white mana from her body which burned the man and he let go of her hand.
She immediately pulled out her artifact to pull in Laia when she noticed a presence approaching.
It was approaching pretty fast.
Reveria looked at the man who was still recovering from the burns decided to spare a moment to investigate the approaching being.
Once she spread her senses a small smile spread across her face.
'Took you long enough.... Avon'
The man was having trouble healing himself from the burns.
The next moment a spacecraft appeared before them and before the man could do anything Reveria retracted the craft into her artifact.
Inside Avon who came out of it spoke.
"Master! Here take this! Sorry for the delay!"
