Two days ago, he was working in his office when he received an anonymous email with a DNA sample that revealed Shen Yelan was not his child. It had completely caught him off guard, but he did not immeditly brought himself to believe it. After all, with so many enemies around him these days, it might have been a trick by one of them.
So he had secretly done another DNA test. The report arrived just a while ago, and the result was exactly as the one he had received. Which meant that his second wife had forced him to marry her using a child that was not even his.
This humiliation was unbearable for him. No man could ever accept raising someone's child, especially if he did not even know that? It was a slap to his face.
At this moment, he seemed to have forgotten that he had long abandoned Shen Yelan and was even thinking of ways to get rid of her.
"Bring that girl here right this instant!" he ordered.
Several maids immediately scrambled toward the elevator.
Shen Wanwan went to Feng Xin to ask what was happening. Feng Xin whispered a few words in her ear, catching Shen Wanwan off guard. She looked at her mother as if to confirm this wasn't some kind of joke.
Feng Xin nodded her head, affirming that whatever she had said was true. Immediately, the corner of Shen Wanwa's lips twitched into a smile that she forced down.
She looked at Shen Chengwei with concern. She stood up and poured a glass of water for herself.
"Dad, please sit down and drink some water."
Shen Chengwei looked at her, and immediately afterwards, his expression softened. He took the glass from her and sat down, drinking the contents in one gulp before handing the glass back to her.
"Calm down dad. Nobody could have known things would turn out like this. But even if... even if Elder Sister isn't your biological daughter, you still raised her for eighteen years and treated her like your own child. That counts for something, doesn't it?"
It was such perfect words. She was showing concern and sympathy, but had also subtly twisted the knife deeper.
"It is the fact that I raised her all these years that I can't accept it!" Shen Chengwei gritted out. "I don't even know which bastard's child that woman forced me to raise!"
Xiao Wei, who'd been listening from the doorway, felt his jaw drop. He looked at his mother in complete disbelief.
Feng Xin caught his eye and gave a small nod.
Holy shit. Shen Yelan really wasn't their sister?
Well, technically, they had always been unrelated, but that's not the point.
Just then, the elevator door opened and Shen Yelan was wheeled out. She seemed to have heard what was going on and looked terrible as if she would pass out any moment now.
"Father...what am I hearing? I...I am not your daughter?" Shen Yelan stamered, looking at Shen Chengwei with tear-filled eyes.
"Don't call me that!" Shen Chengwei roared.
"Fathe-"
"I said don't use that word!" Shen Chengwei grabbed the first thing that came to his hand, which happened to be the empty glass, and hurled it at Shen Yelan.
Shen Yelan did not even have time to react before she was hit on the forehead, and the glass shattered. Fortunately, the shards missed her eyes and any other vital areas. But a trail of red began to trickle down her forehead.
Shen Yelan's hand went to her forehead and stared at Shen Chengwei with hurt. She did not say anything, but her eyes seemed to be asking what she had done wrong. But Shen Chengwei, blinded by his rage and humiliation saw nothing except the fact that this was a bastard he was forced to raise and hide away in shame.
Shen Meli raised her hand but then stopped herself and looked away. For once, she was choosing not to get involved in her brother's mess.
"Get out of my house!" Shen Chengwei pointed toward the door, his hand shaking with fury.
"Father," Shen Yelan murmured in a low voice.
"GET OUT!" Shen Chengwei's voice roared. He looked at the maid standing nearby, who just happened to be Sun Lili. "You! Throw her out!"
Sun Lili stared at Shen Yelan with a hesitant look.
"Now!" Shen Chengwei snapped, making Sun Lili jump.
"Ye-yes, Master Shen," Immediately, she grabbed the handles of the wheelchair and hurridly push her out.
Shen Yelan opened her mouth to plead but instead, a harsh coughing fit overtook her. Her whole body convulsed with it as she struggled to breathe. No one seemed to care about her state while she was pushed out.
By the time they reached the estate gates, Shen Yelan had stopped coughing, but she looked barely conscious.
"Umm...what now, boss?" Sun Lili asked in a low voice.
Shen Yelan raised her gaze slightly, and a cold look flashed in them.
"Now we wait,"

In a conference room, a meeting was proceeding when a cellphone began to ring. Immediately, everyone froze and looked around, wondering who the idiot was who had a death wish and forgotten to put his phone on silent. That was until they realized that the idiot was sitting at the head of the table.
Mo Jingrui glanced at the screen, and something in his expression shifted, though it was barely noticeable.
"Speak."
