Timeline: 96 AG (11 years old)
A year has past since the events of Lu Ten and Azulon's deaths that were supposed to happen. It's currently 96 AG and so, I've stepped foot into my 11th year since reincanating in this world
My destiny... in the original timeline, was to become the tool that my father used to throw at something he doesn't particularly like. But here, even until today, he hasn't made a move against me yet. I don't know what goes through that head of his, but unfortunately for him, whatever he decides to throw at me just won't work anymore. Because currently, I Am The Strongest
And i think it is time i started doing some major moves in order to secure my seat into the fire lords position
Obviously, whatever i do i cannot take the seat now because of my age so the seat after Azulon, by right of passage, should belong to uncle Iroh. But i have a feeling that won't happen either. Though whether it be uncle or Ozai who takes the seat, doesn't really matter to me. The only thing that would make a difference is the amount of effort I'd have to put myself through with either of the two accending
If it was uncle who got the throne, I'd have less work to do considering his more benevolent approach into ruling. I am even somewhat positive that he'd be the one to put an end to this war, not even needing me or the avatar to do that once we're on a sufficient level of power -me politically and him physically-
However, if it were to be my father who ascends the throne then I'm afraid I'd have my work cut out for me
Gaining political power in this Absolute Monarchical nation is, quite frankly, both simple and hard at the same time
Simple because, if you want to be recognized in a nation that values personal strenght above all else, you have to have great feats under your name. For the fire nation it is simply about the moves you make in the war efforts
Look at Kuzon for example. He led a battalion of 700 soldiers to the front line against one of the stronger fortresses of the earth kingdom and single handedly destroyed and seiged that said fortress. Now the soilders stationed there can send more people for the war efforts against Omashu city
He, because of this act, got recognized by the high society and currently can walk into gallas and parties held by nobles even though he is a commoner simply because of this feat alone
If a noble is dissatisfied with Kuzons presence they can't voice it because, they know that, to be able to take down a fortress the size that Kuzon has, he has to be very strong personally
Ultimately it all comes down to personal strength. And if anyone is still naive enough to challenge the strong, even better. The strong can show them their place by a simple act of agni kai with no consequences involved. If a person of noble standing were to challenge Kuzon's feat, and later gets killed in agni kai by him, the other nobles will think that he simply wasn't right. Here, the strong dictates what is right and what is wrong
Now, for me personally, i plan to embark on a journey to the frontlimes, maybe besides uncle before he breaches ba sing se -i still don't know if he would follow up on that or not considering, in the original timeline, he would withdraw after breaching ba sing se simply because Lu Ten died
Now though i have no idea what will happen. Will he continue to march and take Ba Sing Se under seige or will he withdraw just like canon? Will he even become a white lotus member or not? I guess only the future can tell
As for me, my path is clear. If uncle Iroh becomes firelord, i might not even need to lift a finger and just live my life happily. If it's Father who becomes firelord then i have to journey to the frontlines and make a name for myself, elevating my status so that i may one day -even if by force- take the position of firelord and make peace with the rest of the world 'sighhhhhh what a hassle... '

Third person POV.
While Azula comes up with the future she invisions, in the royal palace, inside the firelords chambers, the current firelord is having thoughts of his own

'Iroh's test in currently near its completion. Now all that's left is to wait and see' the current highest order of the nation of fire, Firelord Azulon, is inside his own world, thinking about the future of his nation and nothing else
In his mind, he has Envisioned 2 sets of pathways for his 2 children. In each pathway, there is the two roads they can take. If they succeed in their path then, whoever does so first will be crowned firelord
For Iroh, his challenge is the complete and utter seige of the largest earth kingdom in the world. Azulon already knows that Iroh will succeed in this endeavour. And that is not even the main goal of his challenge. No, his actuall main challenge is that, if he will even go through with it or not
Should Iroh fail in his challenge of conquering Ba sing Se, then Azulon will deem him Unworthy for the throne and shall wait for his second to pass his own test. To Azulon, to be a firelord, a ruler for this nation of Absolute Monarchy, is to be a ruthless being capable to sacrificing anyone to get to the nation's goal
For the Fire nation, their ultimate goal is the unification of the whole world under a single banner. And in the eyes of the past and present fire lords, whoever is the strongest shall decide which banner should be on that unified front
To be able to reach this grand and glorious goal of theirs, fire lords must be ruthless beings who would stop at nothing to reach their goals. And in the eyes of Azulon, Iroh's failure -not seiging Ba Sing Se out of feeling too much guilt- is a show of his gentleness. Something that a Fire Lord cannot have if they are to rule this Absolute Monarchical nation.
As for Ozai's test, time shall tell in a few more paragraphs down this chapter [FOURTH WALL-CHAN NOOOOOOOOO!!! ]

In the year 96 since After Genocide (AG) Which is how history is being recorded since the fall of an entire nation -air nomads-. In the past, history in this world was recorded according to the birth and death of the avatars cycle. The birth of an avatar was major enough to also birth a new era, and the death of one marked the end of that said era
But since the genoside of the air nomads 96 years ago, there has been no new Avatar reborn in the cycle. Thus the world has deemed to mark the end of an entire civilization as the start of a new era named aproprietly as After Genocide (AG)
Anyways, in 96 AG, in the Autumn season of the world, where the tempratures start to go around 30 to 45 degrees celcius (86-113 degrees fahrenheit) in the fire nation, the royal family of the fire nation has decided to go on a trip in one of the festival rich islands of the nation
The Ember Island, which is a renowned resort area located in the outer islands of the northern Fire Nation. Set among palm trees and luscious vegetation, it is home to many luxurious resorts and vacation homes for the wealthy and powerful. Many high-ranking Fire Nation officials have vacation homes here and the island is viewed as the top vacation destination in the Fire Nation. The private black sand beaches are surrounded by mountains and dunes which create a private atmosphere for visitors. the royal family have visited the island in the past 11 years of Azula's life every summer. Which is the first odd thing that struck Azula, since currently its Autumn and not summer. Sure the temperatures are high around these times but even still, the fire nation is made up of volcanic islands so the temperatures are always high as well as the people of the nation being used to them
The second thing that struck her as odd was the fact that the whole family, including the fire lord himself, is also visiting this time around
Azulon is within his own chambers inside the royal ship. All the royal family except for Iroh are present for this trip, which is sending RED alarms inside Azula's head! Something is happening, something big, and Azula never likes being in the unknown about a major plot that's undergoing at the present

Azula POV.
Once we are at the island, we make our way to the summer home that belongs to the royal family inside this island. The summer house is a big, spacious mansion that has a variety of spots reserved for each family member. There are a lot of different rooms from which one can view the open ocean from inside the house
It is spacious with a large open yard, a very big kitchen area, bath houses belonging to each room or a big one that can house a family of 10. It is situated near the shore, up a set of staircases that go up a little hill with lively grass and a few jagged rocks at the side
Another bigger jagged rock,which is a few feet taller than the house itself is also situated right behind the house
(AN/ i hope i didn't butcher the visualization. As you guys can tell i am not very good at giving area descriptions 🥲. Though I'm sure I'll get better in time as i write more 😎

As we get to the royal family house, the servants quickly begin to arrange our rooms by taking our belongings there and we begin to ready ourselfs for this Autumn vacation

Three days has passed with nothing major happening. As usual in every other of our visits, we went to the private beach belonging to the royal family, visited the 'Ember Island Players' which is a famous show, and overall had fun
For me though, the feeling of wrongness never faded so i kept on being vigilant about my surrounding and having my eyes on my family
We were having fun when the third day of our visit finally came to an end as well

Azulon POV.
"So, what will it be, Ozai?" I'm currently inside my chambers in our mansion on this island, facing me and sitting across from me is Ozai, my second son. And it has been 3 days since his trial has started. Currently it is nighttime
No words had reached from the frontlines except the last letter from Iroh last week, pertaining his preperations, and readiness for the seige. It was 5 days ago, 2 days before we came to ember island. And so i decided to start Ozai's trial for ascension here as well. Let's see which of my children has the guts to shoulder the title of Fire Lord
Having not received my answer still after 3 days, my patience is beginning to thin out. So i repeat my question for him once again
"Ozai, what will you do? Will it be your son, or your wife? " I ask him once again, eliciting a reaction from him, but not the same shocked look from 3 days ago. No, this time he has a look of uncertainty painting his face
I wait for him to answer
Third person POV.
"Father, " Finally he speaks. "My answer is... "

[On the other side, on the frontlines of the seige of ba sing se.]
BOOOOOOOM!!!
An explosion of catastrophic proportions, that ignited the start of the seige of ba sing se took place on the outer later of the great walls
At the fire nation army's side, on the front row of the army, General Iroh of the fire nation gives the signal for the second time
BOOOOOOM!! BOOOOOOM!!!
Two simultaneous explosions the size of half the great wall happens on both side of the great wall of ba sing se, shattering it finally, and letting the army to march right inside the walls
Amid the marching tanks and soldiers of the fire nation, a single silhouette is stuck in the back, having wide, horrified eyes locked unto the wall, and seeing the people on the other side panicking. Seeing mothers clutching their children and running away from their homes, towards the center of Ba Sing Se itself. Seeing soldiers from both sides fighting and killing eachother
And so, amidst this devestation, one single thought goes through his heads, 'what have i done... '

Author's note/ Ozai's answer got -unfortunately- suspended for the next chapter that will be explained after a timeskip happening first
I thought alot of different scenario about how to proceed with Ozai's trial. And unfortunately most of them would have been too absurd to incorporate in the story. So in the end i just went with the original. I mean, "why fix something that doesn't need fixing" Am i right? 😅
Anyways, we also then see Iroh, having seen what he's done, reflect on his actions and beginning to change. Beginning to turn against the darkside as you may call it~ 🤭 okay I'll stop
Anyways, if you're wondering how that explosion happened from the inside as well, come on! Ba Sing Se is soooooo easy to breach that in the original timeline, Iroh and Zuko got in simply by wearing 'normal civilian clothes'. It's not that hard to believe that they could smuggle explosions using this method when Ba Sing Se is so lenient on their preservation. The king doesn't even know that their nation is at WAR, like BRUH! 🤣🤣🤣
As for the explosions and how they can be so devestating that 3 of them were able to bring down a ba sing se wall, well, they are the same ones that the character 'Mechanist' made in the series. The dude was a genuis in the art of mechanism and let's just say, this time around the fire nation got them earlier than the one year before canon
He got blackmailed into creating weapons and steam based tanks for the fire nation as well as potent explosions for this specific seige (poor dude obviously doesn't know that his creations are getting used on the attack against his own main homeland)
Anyways, next chapter we'll find the results of these 'trials' that Azulon had set up for his 2 children
