Beep! Beep! The alarm sounded
I woke up and stared at the clock beside my bed, it was just 6:00 am
Yawning, I sat up on my bed picking up my phone. Still half awake, I knelt beside my bed and prayed after which I went to dress up for school.
Here is My story, My name is Diana an 100level student studying Medicine and Surgery, I have only been newly admitted and I stay alone because I don't have a roommate yet. I am the only Daughter of my parents, I have two elder brothers. My mom runs a supermarket and my Dad is an engineer, he's rarely home and sometime when I was young my parents had a fight concerning my dad's frequent absence
"Felix what is wrong with you, you were not around for your daughter's graduation ceremony, the boys have also gotten Admission and you were not even there to celebrate with them, the kids need you now than ever" my mom yelled
" I understand you darling and trust me I am doing this for the sake of the family...."
"It is the same old stories you keep telling me everytime, I am sick and tired of your excuses" My mom cut him short
" Why is it so hard to spend time with you family, I have been the one raising the kids alone and we both know they need you" my mom was sobbing already
" Don't say that my love, I do come home but..."
" It is not enough Felix, those few days you spend with them isn't enough do you think you know the kids well enough just because you spend a day or two with them" My mom replied angrily
I was just 9 years old then and that was the first time I saw my parents argue so heatedly
I sighed and stopped peeping, mom is right tho my dad usually gets us gifts, gadget and whatever it is we wanted but he still need to make out time for us. Some of the neighbors don't even know him because he's rarely home. Despite all this I love my family so much.
I quickened my pace as I have just 10 minutes left to get to class. The class was boring and it lasted for 2 hours after which we were dismissed. I was so hungry as I didn't have enough time to eat at home, I rushed to the canteen and got some food. I chose a quiet place to sit because I don't like being stared at whenever am eating.
Oh yeah, did I mention that I am an introvert I get shy easily and I don't like to socialize.
I was eating quietly when a guy approached me with a tray of food
"Hello pretty, Do you mind if I sit with you" he asked smiling at me
I groaned inwardly, can't I eat in peace
"Yeah Sure" I replied even though I was itching to tell him to leave
I faked a smile and continued eating
I hope this guys doesn't talk too much I thought inwardly
"So, pretty lady this is the first time I am seeing you on this campus are you a fresher?" he asked
Does he have table manners at all, I screamed inwardly
"Well, yeah" I replied
"Wow, which course" he inquired, he suddenly seemed interested
"Medicine and Surgery" I replied as short and brief as I can
Oh, well that's nice....he said looking surprised
My name is Richard and I am an engineering student, civil engineering to be precise and I am in 200 level" he replied enthusiastically obviously enjoying the flow of conversation
By now I was done eating, I stood up to leave
"Oh, you are leaving already" he asked with a little bit of disappointment
"Yeah, I am" I replied
Alright then, nice to meet you please can I know your name and probably exchange contact with you"
"My name is Diana" I said
"Wow....nice name, can I get ur number" he asked bringing out his phone from his pocket
He's using one of the latest iPhone
Does he think he can oppress or win me over with this' I laughed inwardly
I gave him the number of one of my broken sim
"Don't call the number now it won't go through, the phone is down already but I will switch it on when I get home" I i replied knowing fully well that I am giving him a wrong number
Alright then, I'll be on my way" I said and I left the place
I am not a fan of sharing my number as only few people know my contact and this includes those in my inner circle.
I had a mission before I got admitted and I am planning to sick to it
No friends or relationship
It's just studies I don't want to get myself involved with campus boys who are only out to ruin you and Raymond sure looks like a playboy.
I'll have to avoid him as much as I can
After getting home I took a warm bath, ate and drifted off to sleep.
