It was a very gloomy day, the weather was cold and windy there was a high chance of the rain falling heavily in the heart of hillville a small town with a small population of 2 thousand people, although it was a small and hidden town but Kylie thought it was the perfect place to live in after her crazy ex tried to kill her when she tried to break up with him for cheating on her.
Kylie had been furious and scared when he attacked her with a kitchen knife when she told him about the breakup, Jake her ex was out of his mind and wanted Kylie to give him her body, time and soul but he didn't do the same.
Kylie finally had enough after multiple cheating and called the quits on the relationship which resulted in Jake getting furious and attacking her with a kitchen knife although he stabbed her twice on her arm and on her back when she tried escaping. she managed to escape when her neighbors broke into her house after hearing the noises coming from her house, she was bleeding profusely when her neighbors burst in and called the ambulance and the police. she was immediately rushed to the hospital while Jake got arrested, although he stayed in prison for a 5 months he eventually got released on bail through his father's influence and wealth.
Kylie had to go into hiding with her 52 yr old mother ' Martha ' she had no memory of her father, she had only seen pictures of him and her mother never really talked about him, she would only say " he went out and never came back " with a distant look in her eyes. Kylie never bothered about the details " he probably ran away" she would say would disgust but her mother was certain her father would never run away from his family.
Kylie shook her head as she was brought back to reality.
" I need to get going to this damn job it's definitely going to rain soon" she said with a sigh while looking out the window. she was a she gained admission a year ago into the university of hillville. although she was a already in a university in the big city she lived in before, Kylie had decided to further her education in hillville, she had always wanted to be a famous artist as she was already good at charcoal drawings, she wanted to learn more about oil paintings but first she had to look for a job as the money she saved before moving to hillville was already exhausted and she couldn't depend on her mum who was a nurse at the local hospital to pay her tuition fees, her mum was already paying the rent and it hurt Kylie to see her mother working overtime, her mother never complained and would always say she loved her job.
Kylie decided to work part time while going to the university, so she started applying for jobs around small cafe's and restaurants but it wasn't easy because most people didn't want to hire a part time worker they would say they only needed full time workers as hiring a part time worker might not be a good idea, she found a few willing to hire to hire but the pay was barely enough to purchase a single text book. She kept on searching until she found a small restaurant owned by an old man and his middle aged daughter who needed a helping hand as the last worker they had just quit a few days ago because she was getting married and leaving hillville to start a new family.
Carly was ecstatic because not only was the pay good but it was just a 15 minutes walk from her house so she wouldn't have to worry about transportation fee plus they also provided staff food for their staffs which was a bonus because saving feeding money would mean saving alot to pay her tuition.
she quickly took a shower as she was to be at work around 5:00pm and it was already 4:20pm she was home all day as today was a lecture free day. Kylie tried to soothe her curly ginger hair with her fingers while staring at her reflection, she had white skin and deep blue eyes which complemented her curly ginger hair , she had full pouting pink lips and a pretty face, she was at least 5'9 ft tall, taller than average girls around her. her height never failed to bring her unwanted attention from people, some looked at her with admiration while others looked at her with envy or disgust.
she had never cared about what people thought of her neither did she have a single friend in hillville, she loved minding her business to avoid unnecessary drama . she had a nice lean figure with round breast, a slim waist and some hips.
She quickly applied some lip gloss and mascara to enhance her looks, she wore a white shirt and jeans trouser with a pair of white sneakers, she wore simple clothes because she didn't want to draw unnecessary attention to herself, she carried her purse while holding her phone and stuffing some cash into her purse.
"Hi mom" she greeted while passing the living room
" Kylie are you going to work without eating something? you barely ate something today other than some cereal and fruits" Martha said with raised brows
" I'm getting late mom and it's about to rain and I don't want my clothes getting wet on my first day of work" she sighed
"it's fine but pls get something to eat when you get to work" her mother said worriedly
" I know mom" Kylie said already going out the door while Martha shook her head in disbelief
Kylie decided to take a walk to the restaurant because she wanted to save money and didn't want to spend it on transportation as cabs were expensive in hillville.
she got to the restaurant when the rain was already drizzling, she was glad she didn't get very wet on her first day of work.
she quickly greeted the owner who welcomed her warmly, then she put on her apron and got to work. The rain was already coming down heavily which resulted in a few customers who just wanted something warm in there stomach to drive away the cold.
she was glad the work load wasn't much on her first day, she also got a few bucks as tips from the customers.
" you did a great job on your first day" Robert the owner of the restaurant praised her with a smile while handing her the day's payment.
"thank you sir" Kylie said with relief
it was already 10pm, she was glad Robert gave her something to eat a few hours ago, he even packed dinner for her to eat when she got home which she collected eagerly.
The rain had stop an hour ago which was a big relief for Kylie, she decided to take a cab home as it was already late and the ground was wet and cold. she stood for around 10 minutes but she couldn't find a cab home, the ones she found were either fully booked or weren't taking Passengers. she decided to take a walk home besides it was just a 15min walk and she would also save the money meant for taking a cab
The street was dark, gloomy and lonely as most people were indoors due to the rain but Kylie noticed a 3 men wearing a black hoodie 10 feet away from her. at first she shrugged it off and thought they were just passing. she hastened her steps and found out they hastened theirs too. Kylie finally broke into a run while frantically trying to fish her phone from her purse but the men were right behind her tail.
she didn't know what they wanted but she knew whatever they wanted from her wasn't good.
" somebody help me" she screamed out in terror when one of the men caught a hold of her shirt, she tried breaking free from him all to no avail.
"Get the car ready" the goon who was holding her captive told one of the other 2 while the last one walked down a few blocks to check if anyone had heard Kylie's scream.
Kylie was beginning to freak out, she knew whenever these men were taking her was no where good. she was probably going to get trafficked or killed she thought with horror
She had to find a way to escape before the other 2 men came back.
she hurriedly yanked off her shirt and jabbed the man in the stomach which made him let out a groan and let go of her.
Kylie immediately took off with no sense of direction with the goon hot on her trail, she threw her purse at him to slow him down which wasn't of much help at all as it barely touched him.
she ran through a few alley screaming for help but she knew no one would help her as most people minded their business here in hillville and they wouldn't want to step out of their houses due to fear of the unknown. Kylie had to idea of where she was going but it was better than being caught by these men. she ran as fast as her legs could carry her with the man hot on her tail, she decided not to waste her energy screaming with no assurance of help.
it was already raining heavily by now and Kylie was already soaking wet when she saw an abandoned library and ran inside without a thought.
