Chapter 79 - A tough choice (2)

Ever since I got the Sage Force, my perception has reached whole new level, it's as if I have an eye at the back of my head... No not just the back of my head... It feels like I can sense everything around me to a certain radius. And that wasn't even the main problem! I could hear everything happening in a hundred metres radius, it was super annoying.

"How the hell am I supposed to turn it off?" I asked myself, walking back to the males dorm.

"Why would you turn it off in the first place?" Ryuk asked.

"It's annoying to know everything that's happening around you, I don't wanna know so much details about everyone's daily life! It's annoying! That's what it is!" I complained. "... Someone is there in front of the males dorm."

"See? Your ability is useful in times like this," Ryuk said as if praising himself.

As I walked closer, a familiar silhouette came into my view. She was standing with her arms folded, while leaning against a wall.

"Hm? What are you doing here, Syl?" I asked, walking closer to the building, while deploying a small sound barrier in the vicinity.

"We have to talk," Sylvia said in a serious tone.

"Like right now? Can't we talk tomorrow?" I asked, feigning ignorance to the matter.

"It's about John, Dr Reinhardt should have already told you but you need to stay away from him for now... It's for his own good. I understand that you don't want to stay away from him and he is like a brother to you but please... Don't get close to him for a while," Sylvia said, calmly.

"I was about to tell you the same thing, don't worry I won't do anything stupid... In fact, I plan to use this to my advantage," I explained. "Since John has lost his memories, I want him to stay close to Samuel. When the time comes... He will be our most fatal weapon against Samuel. Physiological pain is always worse than physical pain."

"But will you be okay?" Sylvia asked out of genuine concern.

"I have dealt with such pain since my birth, do you really think something like this would slow me down?" I asked.

"You know if you had just asked me to bring him out of here then I would have done so without a second thought," Sylvia said, partially sad.

"I know, that's why I didn't ask for anything, I don't want to endanger a friend while trying to save another. I may be selfish but I don't use my pain as an excuse to hurt someone else," I said. 'Do I sound like a hero, right now?'

"Absolutely, role well played," Ryuk complimented.

"Well, I guess I will leave then," Sylvia said. "See you tomorrow."

"See you tomorrow, Syl," I said, as we both walked back to our respective dorms.

"This stinks..." Tom complained, trying to get comfortable on the ground. "If I find the bastard who messed with my bed I am gonna tear him apart."

"Stop nagging about it, I asked you to switch places," I said, laying comfortably on my bed. 'I should have gotten rid of the smell...'

"I don't get how you are even adjusting so well with this smell," Tommy asked, annoyed by the fact.

"You have a sensetive nose," I replied, bluntly.

"... By the way, why did you arrive so late?" Tommy asked back.

"Dr Reinhardt showed up all of a sudden, he told me to stay away from John until his memories came back..." I said.

"He really hasn't been off your tail ever since the incident happened, huh?" Tommy remarked.

"I don't blame him, both of us are his patients, it's natural for him to worry about us since he is our doctor," I said. "By the way, can you teach me archery?"

"What? Gun's not working out for you?" Tommy asked.

"Guns are too slow, unless I get enhanced bullets, it won't hit my opponents in time," I answered. "But if I enhance my arrows with my lightning... I can create an arrow fast enough to pierce through a cybernetic armour."

"Well, I would say no..." Tommy said, saddening my mood. "If you were someone else that is. Did I ever mention that I excel in archery? It's my main weapon."

"You use a bow?! Why did you never use a bow when we fought last time then?!" I asked in surprise.

"The situation seemed unfavorable for me if I had used a bow. My arrows won't hit you in the first place... You are faster than a bullet!" Tommy complained in annoyance.

"Way faster..." I replied.

"Way faster..." Tommy repeated. "That single fight with you cost me ten grands."

"I can give you back your money once we are out of here," I laughed.

"I didn't ask for your money, I have enough of that anyways. What I need right now is a sleeping pill because of this damn scent!" Tommy thew his pillow at his bed, before picking it back up.

"You want me to knock you out?" I asked.

"At this point... Anything works as long as I can sleep-"

Crackle

With a slight stroke of my arm, I hit the back of his neck, knocking him out while he was talking.

"You know all battles would be over with a snap of your fingers if you just did that all the time," Ryuk commented. "Instead you like to play with your enemies like they are your pets."

"Where is the fun in that? Playing with my enemies entertains me more than anything. Isn't it entertaining for you as well?" I asked.

"Well... Yeah I find it quite entertaining as well," Ryuk admitted. "What techniques did you give Crowley? The way he reacted back then made me think it was something truly horrific."

"Oh that's nothing, I just adjusted Alfred's techniques, wrote it down in some books and gave them a name," I said, looking at Ryuk's shocked face.

"With all due respect, do you have a fucking clue?!" Ryuk shouted. "You should have discussed with me before giving them a name! You are horrible with two things, names and directions!"

"Well... It's not that bad... On second thought I would rename it if I could..." I said, nervously.

"Oh good lord..." Ryuk sighed.
