Chapter 1 - Emperor of Death

"CRACK!", A large crack appeared in space as a huge influx of energy spread out from the crack. Stepping out of the crack was a young looking man, dark hair accompanied by thick, dark eyebrows. His blue eyes seemed to hold stars as they shimmered in the light of the setting sun, his defined jawline seemed to speak authority, even without the man trying. Although the man couldn't be considered particularly handsome, it was hard to resist taking a second look at him.

Taking a deep breath, Ryan's lips curled up in an involuntary smile as he took in the smell of the forest.

"Three years!, it's been three years. Hahahaha", Ryan seemed to go mad for a while as he laughed maniacally.

He had been accidentally teleported into a world he didn't even know existed; a world of immense cultivation resources and cultivation manuals. After stumbling around in the new world for a while, he finally managed to adapt to his new reality; fighting Demonic Beasts that lurked near cultivation resources for those resources. After going through a few life and death scenarios, he became strong enough to contend directly against the Demonic Beasts, finally tilting the odds of success in his favour.

After cultivating past the Mana Condensation Realm and stepping into the Spirit and Soul Realm, he was out hunting Demonic Beasts he was going to use for feeding when he encountered a humanoid looking Demonic Beast. Having cultivated in the strange space for a year and a half without seeing such a beast, his curiosity got the better of him, as he followed the Demonic Beast to it's lair. It turned out to be a mistake though, as he was soon ambushed by Demonic Beasts at the 5th level of the Spirit and Soul Realm. Him, being at the 2nd level of the Spirit and Soul Realm was soon gravely injured by the horde of Beasts.

Losing his consciousness, he was expecting the end when, unexpectedly, the Humanoid Beast he was trailing came to his rescue, tearing the Demonic Beasts to pieces with just a few slash of it's claws. Gripped by fear at the level of strength displayed by the unknown Beast, Ryan hadn't known what to feel when the Beast turned to him, it's gaze soul piercing, the sharpness in them making Ryan lose consciousness.

Waking up after an unknown amount of time later, Ryan sat up as he took in his surroundings; It was a place he never even thought could have existed in such an abandoned world. There seemed to be a perfect contrast between the chaotic atmosphere of the outside world and the one he found himself.

"Drink", a pleasant but old voice snapped him out of whatever spell the view had casted on him. Flinching, he wobbled away unsteadily, his closed wounds threatening to burst open.....He had not seen a human in this place before!.

Looking towards the voice, he could only gape as he saw an old man, wrinkled face, long, white beard and a sharp glint in his old eyes, looking at him, the hide of an animal fashioned into a bottle in his hand.

The more Ryan looked at the old man, the more he could see the Humanoid Beast, the realization of this doing nothing to calm his raging heart.

"You're the Humanoid Beast!", Ryan exclaimed as he stood up, the Mana in the cave gathering around him, a strange hum echoing through his surroundings.

"Better sit down kid, your body is in no condition to draw in the Mana from the void. You are doing yourself more harm than good", the Humanoid Beast, or rather, the old man chided as he patted the floor beside him, motioning for Ryan to sit.

Although he hated to admit it, Ryan had to admit that the old man was right; just the little Mana he had dragged into his body was weakening him, the residual energy wreaking havoc inside his already weak body.

Shuffling closer to the old man, Ryan sat down, albeit a little far from the old man.

"Hmmm, a cautious youth eh....You should rather be cautious of what you carry", the old man said with a smirk.

"Carry??, what do you mean??", Ryan asked as he observed the old man with a suspicious gaze.

Standing up, the old man dropped the bottle made out of hide in front of Ryan and kept his hands behind his back as he walked towards a large opening in the cave, sunlight pouring through the opening, adding to the cheerful atmosphere in the cave.

"The Sword of Dark Death. The Sword crafted by 10 Heavenly Blacksmiths, two of them even sacrificing their lives for the successful crafting of the Sword. The Sword was crafted for the Emperor of Death, the Keeper of the Time Scroll and the King of the Underworld. He was a very powerful God, powerful enough to be deemed an anomaly by the Council of Divine Order and Unity. Betrayed and ambushed by his own men, the Emperor of Death was chained by the Chain of Life, the only thing strong enough to restrain his powers. His Sword however, was coveted by one of his captors, who, in a haste to tame the Sword broke the restrictions on the Sword, the backlash killing him and his colleagues. The Sword, now masterless, fell through the void and arrived in your realm, where it had stayed dormant for a few thousand years. Your presence however, seemed to awaken the Sword, as it chose you as it's next Master".

Hearing the long narration from the old man, the only thing that came to Ryan's mind was....What the F*ck?!!!. A sword crafted by Heavenly Blacksmiths (even though he didn't know what that title meant, it sounded Bad*ss!), made for an Emperor of Death, with many titles to his name, was willing to choose him, a nobody, as it's next master??. If not for the subtle pain still going through his body, he would have thought he was dreaming!.
