*Before Yvonne and Tavar entered the room*
Tavar was holding his beloved's hand as she was talking to the young God in space. He was worried sick. He had the same encounter before, with another disciple of her. It didn't end well for any of them. Yvonne lost a potential friend who would have been helpful to her in the council and the God she helped left without any foresight of dangers that lurked in the dark abyss. He was adamant about not letting the same thing happen again.
Yvonne's eyes fluttered open and saw the brooding face of her love. She instinctively tightened her hand.
"How did it go, Is he coming back?"
"Yes, he is trying to take control of the body once again. It'll take some time for him to get inside it." A silence descended upon the corridor they were in. Tavar was the first to break it.
"I think I should talk to him. Work out our issues."
"I don't think that's a good idea. Besides he's just a newborn God. Their minds are prone to volatile emotional changes. One second they love something, and another they don't even give it a second look. You did see how he was enjoying everything he saw today. In two or three days he won't care about them anymore."
"I'm more surprised about the jealousy I felt. Even in my elven form, I could feel it hit me in waves. I can understand anger or something else but jealousy is a complex emotion." She slipped her hands through his grip and kneaded her temples. Jealousy was an emotion Gods developed after a long time of observing and participating. Newborns didn't show many emotions this early. Besides Yvonne was careful to filter out the information she was projecting to him. So it couldn't be any slip from her.
Seeing the gloomy look on her beloved's face, he decided to cheer her up, "Hey, I would have been angry if he wasn't jealous. I can't think of any man who won't grovel at your feet. I am surprised that he didn't fall on his knees and asked to marry you, when you both met each other." This elicited a chuckle from the frowning goddess who flicked his forehead.
He pretended to be hurt.
"Like you? I still remember you following me and proposing to me everyday wherever I went.."
"What can I say, you are the most beautiful woman I ever laid my eyes upon. Gorgeous from inside and outside."
She hummed as she heard his response and looked up. She looked at the ceiling which was magically enchanted to be invisible from inside. This let the people from below to see stars above.
It was a beautiful night today, stars were twinkling and the two moons stood in their full glory. One grey and another red.
But she wasn't looking up for stars and moons, she was looking for the God up there. Trying to hide his emotions in a futile attempt.
"I do think that I should talk to him. I mean he can't be worse than the last one. What was his name, I can't remember If he even had one back then."
"Rene, he calls himself Rene now. I met him before coming here. He didn't join the council at least. He's with Morwill and his group. He was a bit awkward during the meeting. I think he is still embarrassed about the incident."
"He should be, he cried like a baby when he saw us both having s*x in the woods." He started to giggle like a little boy. It was the first time he had seen a God cry. All the images of omnipotent and omniscient Gods vapourised in front of him as he saw the God bawling his eyes out.
"Hey, be more respectful. He was just a kid." He knew he was in for an earful so he decided to change the subject.
"That's why I'm telling you, it's better If I just talk to him. Besides, last time the situation only escalated because you stopped me from talking to him. And this time if we are lucky he and I may just become good friends."
"Tavar, I really think this is a bad idea." As she stood up to emphasize the point, she felt young God's presence descend back in the room.
"He's here. Tavar please, I can't stress this enough. Don't talk to him. Just let me make this okay."
He just shrugged and sank into his seat and pouted like a child being scolded by his mother. She sighed and went inside the room.
*Back to present*
"I am not your friend." He hissed through his clenched teeth.
Tavar just laughed it off, as it was just some joke, "Of course you are my friend. You and I both know and love Yvonne here. Haven't you heard of the saying 'a friend's friend is your friend'. Besides we all know each other."
"You know nothing about me." His breath once again got ragged and shallow. He held the enchanted railings with enough force to crack them. He started to spread killing intent through his body unconsciously.
His body was at the peak magical perfection. He had a white core which was akin to being a God of mortals. A person with white core was able to merge into mana itself, just like a God could merge with aether. Funnily enough, someone with a white core and an aether one was eerily similar.
"I could, if you just calm down and talk about it. Yvonne here told me it doesn't happen very often, A God getting jealous. Talk to me and I'll try to help you." He had a concerned look on his face.
He wasn't lying when he said about wanting to help and becoming friends. He knew about the God council and how important it was to have allies. For a younger God it was impossible to get proper hearing without support from others. So he thought of this as his duty to the women he admired and loved. The vows he had exchanged during their wedding were about eternal love and protection at any cost. And he was going to uphold them.
"What can you do to help me!" The railing shattered under the pressure and startled everybody in the room. This stopped the killing intent and brought some sense back into him.
He looked at them with tears in his eyes and a pleading look.
"How can you help him?"
"I'll help, no we will help you control your emotions and help you in any way, okay buddy."
"I don't know why I keep feeling like this. I don't want to be like this. I can't stop this. Please help me."
Tavar went forward and hugged him. It was then the young God melted and let go off the gateways to the tears. Yvonne came in and hugged them from behind. They stood still, listening to each other's heartbeat.
