Chapter 16: Marriage
"Help?" Uchiha Hikaku repeated, brows slightly raised.
"Yes, we need help," replied Uzumaki Raiken.
The room fell silent. Everyone held their breath. After all, the Uchiha and Senju clans had been enemies for generations. The Uzumaki, as allies to the Senju, even had a history of intermarriage with them. Tensions were still rooted deep.
"And what exactly do you need from us, the Uchiha Clan?" asked Hikaku.
"We noticed an empty plot of land beside the Senju Residence," Raiken began, calmly. "After some inquiries, we learned it belongs to the Uchiha Clan."
Hearing this, Hikaku furrowed his brows. The memory resurfaced. That land—yes, it was once claimed by the Uchiha Clan, back when Madara was still clan head.
"Oh, that land," Hikaku said slowly. "But we don't plan on selling it."
"Why not?" Raiken asked. "It's been left untouched for decades."
Hikaku paused. He couldn't give a concrete reason, why he can't sell the land but he can just create any reason not to sell it.
"The land held some nostalgic significance for the clan" answered him.
The real reason is because he had forgot about the land until now, thanks to Raiken that he remembered the Uchiha had one more land there.
A few years ago they had distrust issue and now even if they had it no longer a problem for them. With the Senju clan power diminished after most of their clan member became civilians, now seemed like the right time to reclaim that space.
"That land holds sentimental value for us," Hikaku said, trying to sound diplomatic, though the real plan was to secure it for future expansion.
Raiken took a deep breath, trying to keep calm.
[Joel donated 1,000 stars and left a message: "Raiken is a loser."]
Raiken glanced at the message. A new viewer had joined his stream and apparently didn't know what was happening. Time to turn the tables.
"How about this..." Raiken said suddenly. "What if you gave that land to us—completely for free?"
The entire room froze.
Clatter!
A porcelain cup slipped from one of the elders' hands and shattered on the floor.
"Wait, what did you just say?" Hikaku asked, trying to suppress his irritation. The other elders were visibly fuming.
"I said, what if the Uchiha gave the land to us as a gesture of goodwill because our clans will form a deeper alliance through marriage?" Raiken continued without hesitation.
If any of the Uchiha elders were not ninja, they might have suffered heart attacks on the spot.
"What?!" Hikaku barked. Several elders jumped to their feet, shocked by the bold suggestion.
"Do you even understand the implications of what you're saying?" one elder demanded, clearly furious.
"Please, sit down first," Raiken said firmly. "We're serious about this. Before coming here, we discussed this proposal thoroughly with the elders of the Uzumaki Clan."
That caught their attention. The Uchiha elders looked at each other in surprise, then slowly sat back down.
"What exactly do you mean?" Hikaku asked, his voice now more cautious than angry.
"Hikaku-sama," Raiken began, "are you familiar with the ancestors of the Uchiha and Uzumaki clans?"
"Yes," Hikaku nodded. "We know the basics."
"According to ancient records, the Uchiha Clan descends from Indra Ōtsutsuki—the eldest son of the Sage of Six Paths, Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki," Raiken said clearly. "Meanwhile, the Senju and Uzumaki Clans descend from Asura Ōtsutsuki, Hagoromo's youngest son."
This revelation made the room fall silent again. Even Hikaku leaned forward slightly, eyes narrowing because they didn't know about this.
"The elder brother inherited the Sage's eyes—thus, the Sharingan. The younger brother inherited the Sage's body and vitality."
One of the elders stood up again. "You mean—?"
"Yes," Raiken affirmed. "We are all descendants of the Sage of Six Paths. By allowing our clans to marry, our children may awaken a greater power—possibly the full potential of the Sage's bloodline."
He paused to let the message sink in.
"After all, the Rinegan (wheel eye) is the evolved form of the Mangekyō Sharingan. But to awaken it, one must possess both the power of Indra and Asura. Only then can the Wheel Eye be born."
The room fell deathly quiet.
"The full power... of the Sage of Six Paths?" one elder finally whispered, his voice laced with awe.
"To think such a thing is possible," muttered another. "A fusion of Indra's and Asura's bloodline... could that truly awaken the six paths eye?"
Uchiha Hikaku rubbed his chin thoughtfully. His sharp gaze never left Raiken. "You speak with conviction for someone so young."
"I speak with facts," Raiken replied calmly. "And with the will to preserve my clan."
An elder leaned forward. "Even if your theory is true, it's still a gamble. We don't know if such a child would be born, let alone awaken the sage of six paths eye."
Raiken nodded. "You're right. But even without that power, our alliance would still benefit both clans—socially, politically, and economically."
"True," another Uchiha elder muttered. "But not without risks."
Hikaku sighed. "We are not rejecting your offer, Young Clan Leader Raiken. But we cannot accept it hastily either. These matters require time and deep discussion."
Raiken remained silent, understanding their hesitation.
Then one elder—older than the rest, his eyes weary—spoke slowly, "Let's not forget, we Uchiha have been silently suppressed in Konoha for years, don't think we are stupid. We've served loyally, yet we're still feared."
Another elder nodded. "We were promised equality, but instead given us rejection. The village watches us as if we carry a curse."
'Is the isolation of Uchiha Clan happen this early?' Thought Raiken before continued.
Raiken met their gaze. "That's why I made this offer. The Uzumaki Clan is not here to take sides—we're here to survive, to grow. And maybe, in time... help each other stand tall again."
Hikaku closed his eyes briefly, thinking.
"This is not a no," he said. "But neither is it a yes."
Raiken smiled faintly. "That's all I needed to hear."
At least they still had a room for negotiation.
