Chapter 23 - Chapter 23: Husband

"Dream on." Polly Sutton instantly stepped back a large distance, directly leaning against the door, "It's clearly written in black and white, we'll divorce after a year, don't even think about breaching the contract."

Victor Parker glanced at her coolly, not wanting to communicate with her any further, it would lower his IQ.

Seeing that Victor Parker was silent, Polly Sutton started to check her return flight tickets, since it was confirmed there were no manuscripts, there was no need to stay any longer.

Victor Parker glanced and immediately knew what she was doing, "The five million bonus for the tender competition winner is no joke."

Polly Sutton silently looked up at him, muttering quietly, "Capitalist, a capitalist pretending to be rich when he actually has no money."

Acting like five million is as insignificant as fifty cents, does he think I'm an idiot?

Victor Parker looked at the mumbling woman. Who on earth told her that when The Parker Family went bankrupt, he'd be penniless?

"Not many people know the current state of The Parker Family, but you seem to be quite informed." Victor Parker said, recalling how Polly Sutton had seemed to see through The Parker Family's issues so clearly that day.

Polly Sutton felt more and more painful for her wallet as she looked at the tickets, "Saw it on the gossip news."

Victor Parker: "..."

Polly Sutton looked from top to bottom, even checked the connecting flights, and after looking, turned to Victor Parker, "When are you going back? How about deducting it from the thirty million?"

When Polly Sutton is asking for something, her eyes are twinkling, but Victor Parker knows how insincere that is.

"At this rate, your thirty million won't last for a year." Victor Parker reminded her.

Polly Sutton, with no money in hand, still dares to spend without considering the consequences; she's indeed quite something.

Polly Sutton followed Victor Parker back to the hotel, and as soon as they got out of the car, she saw a woman standing at the hotel entrance. Polly Sutton recognized this person, the internationally rising architect Isabella Lowe. For years, the architecture world had consistently compared the two of them, so Isabella Lowe had always been hostile to her.

"Victor." Isabella Lowe's gaze swept past Polly Sutton as if not seeing her, walking straight towards Victor Parker.

"What are you doing here?"

Evidently, they're acquainted and very well at that.

"I happened to be on a business trip here, and knowing you were around, I came by." Isabella Lowe said with a smile, stopping a step away from Victor Parker, seemingly noticing Polly Sutton only then, "You're here too? I heard Mr. Walker is bidding for The Parker Family's project, looks like you're the lead designer?"

"Do you guys know each other?" Victor Parker was the one who asked the question.

"Who doesn't know Master Designer Sutton, surely Victor isn't unaware? The little princess of the architecture world, the darling in the palms of countless big players is none other than Master Designer Sutton." Isabella Lowe displayed a somewhat exaggerated demeanor, with hidden hostility towards Polly Sutton.

Polly Sutton: "Miss Lowe, you're too kind; I can't compare to you, Miss Lowe."

After speaking, Polly Sutton intended to leave. The judges from her last award-winning project had praised Polly Sutton privately, and after the award was announced, many people had said she bribed the judges. Isabella Lowe never said anything, but Polly Sutton didn't think of her as innocent.

"It's getting late, why not have dinner together?" Isabella Lowe stopped Polly Sutton from leaving, then turned to Victor Parker, "Victor, we haven't seen each other for a long time, why don't we have a meal together?"

"Wow, it's quite lively here?" Michael Knight came back from outside and made a teasing comment, "The master designer is here too, that's rare."

Polly Sutton instinctively stepped back a small step, watching Isabella Lowe exchange pleasantries with them, it was clear they grew up together.

Polly Sutton didn't want to listen to their reminiscing at all, she and Isabella Lowe had never gotten along.

"I won't disturb your reunion, I..."

"Join us for dinner." Victor Parker directly grabbed Polly Sutton's hand and led her towards the restaurant, completely ignoring her objections.

Isabella Lowe watched the two holding hands, her gaze unconsciously darkened a bit. Her cousin, Sophie Lynn, had told her Victor Parker got married, and the bride was Polly Sutton. She even asked, is this Polly Sutton the one she knew?

Didn't expect it was really her!

"Let's go, Master Designer." Seeing her in a daze, Michael Knight jokingly reminded her.

Isabella Lowe returned to normal and went over with Michael Knight, "Didn't expect him to get married all of a sudden, why hadn't we heard anything before?"

"That's why it's punishable, not even telling us is too much, isn't it?" Michael Knight walked with Isabella Lowe, joking with a smile.

Polly Sutton was brought over by Victor Parker, "I don't want to eat."

"Don't want to eat or don't want to eat with me or Isabella Lowe?" Victor Parker whispered in her ear, "Do you have a grudge against Isabella Lowe?"

Victor Parker pressed down on Polly Sutton's shoulder to make her sit, leaving no room for her resistance.

Isabella Lowe and Michael Knight sat opposite them, Polly Sutton took a deep breath, smilingly looked at Victor Parker, "Why don't you Google it first, see how the internet evaluates the relationship between new architects Polly Sutton and Isabella Lowe?"

"Most things online aren't credible, Mr. Knight probably knows best, right?" Isabella Lowe followed Polly Sutton's words, "I don't think there are any private grievances between me and Miss Sutton, what does Miss Sutton think?"

Polly Sutton looked at the seemingly sincere woman opposite, then at the other two men who were concentrating on ordering, their childhood friend. No matter how she looked at it, she was an outsider, and judging from Isabella Lowe's demeanor, she probably liked Victor Parker. Even if she hid it well, Polly Sutton could tell.

In that case...

"Honey, this 'Pearl Vegetarian Delight' looks delicious, I'd like that." Polly Sutton suddenly clutched Victor Parker's arm, coquettishly called out, sharing the same menu with him.

Victor Parker obviously paused, and even his movements to look at Polly Sutton were a few beats slow.

"Pfft, cough cough cough..." Michael Knight nearly choked on his saliva, silently picked up his water glass, and continued to order while sipping.

"One 'Pearl Vegetarian Delight', because Mrs. Parker likes it." Michael Knight told the server beside him.

Polly Sutton still didn't let go of Victor Parker's arm, even tightening her grip. Victor Parker slowly leaned close to her, his lips by her ear, "Using me?"

The proximity was too close, the warm breath threw Polly Sutton's heartbeat into disarray, yet she tried hard not to blush, making her voice sound normal, "I'm helping you eliminate hidden love rivals."

"You two, stop flaunting your affection, can't we just eat this meal?" Michael Knight tapped the table, unable to bear watching the two opposite any longer.

Isabella Lowe kept looking at the two people leaning on each other, her expression always appropriate, only the repeated stirring of her clear water betrayed her emotions.

"Really didn't expect you'd be the first among us to get married, back then we thought you planned not to marry in this lifetime." Isabella Lowe laughed, "After all, you never seemed like the marrying type."
