Lenny finally finished all her exams.
There's only one word to describe that feeling... liberated!
You know what they say, slacking off all year and then cramming at the last minute.
Lenny is definitely one of those people!
It was only during the finals that she realized she hadn't attended many classes or read any books after starting university.
So with the fear of failing, she spent almost the last two weeks going between the library, dorm, and cafeteria.
All just to pass the finals smoothly!
Sigh, it's not entirely her fault, really.
She studied way too hard in high school.
And her high school teachers always said, endure the hardship now, and you'll be free in college, where you can do whatever you want.
She believed her teachers completely and took their words to heart.
Only now she realized that teachers can lie, too.
Luckily, she corrected her mistakes in time, avoiding any serious consequences.
After the finals, although she didn't dare say she could get high scores, she was sure passing wasn't a problem.
Maybe she'll even get an excellent or good in a few subjects.
After the exams, Lenny immediately called home,
"Grandma, Dad, Mom, I'm done with my exams, I can go back tomorrow, hurry and send me money to buy a flight ticket!"
"You mean you're coming back tomorrow?" her mom asked on the other end.
"Yeah, all my exams are done today, I can go back tomorrow. If I book a ticket for tomorrow morning, I can have lunch at home." Lenny replied happily.
"No, no, don't come back alone," her mom quickly said.
"Mom, I'm eighteen, not eight!" Lenny was speechless.
"Doesn't matter, even eighteen-year-olds are getting kidnapped, just listen to me and don't come back by yourself. I'll have someone pick you up!" her mom insisted over the phone.
"Don't let Dad come get me. He's such a fun-lover, we might just forget the way home!" Lenny immediately said.
A dad being called too playful by his daughter, who knows if that's a sad thing or not!
But there's a story behind it.
Her dad is a typical nouveau riche; now he has money and leisure.
And with Lenny being the only daughter, looking just like her mom, he practically adores her.
Back when she started university, it was her dad who brought her to school.
They had so much fun on the way they nearly missed the registration day.
For that, her dad got quite an earful from her mom!
"It's not your dad going to pick you up, I'll have a friend go, last name Tunner.
He's coming back for the New Year, so you can come back together!"
"Oh, then have him come get me early! I want to go home soon!" Lenny said excitedly.
"Got it, why are you so homesick though!" her mom muttered.
Lenny was almost in tears, am I not allowed to be homesick or what?
