Chapter 34 - Chapter 34: Ghost-Spider #2

Gwen has spider powers.

Damn.

Well this is certainly a surprise, but not an unwelcome one.

Especially since this means I won't have to worry about her that much any longer. Since now if need be she truly has the means to protect herself.

She just needs a bit of training to learn how to control her powers.

That is, if she wants to keep them.

"Gwen." I said.

She then immediately turned her attention to me. "Yes?"

"You alright?" I asked.

"Relatively speaking." She replied. "Just once again overwhelmed as I have been in the past few days." She revealed. "Especially now that I'm a spider woman."

"Yeah, so on that note are you alright with your new situation?"

"What do you mean?"

"I mean, you didn't ask for your powers. They only happened as the result of an accident. So if you want to try and find a way to get rid of them I would completely understand." I explained.

"Wait a minute. Didn't you get your powers in an accident as well?"

"Yeah." I admitted. "But this and that are two different things. Especially since I feel like I was sort of meant to have these powers in the first place. But that's just me. And I don't want you to feel like you are obligated to keep them as a way to support me."

"I see. But don't worry Peter. I'm not keeping these powers because of that reason. Well, maybe a little bit. But overall I want to keep these powers because I want to."

"Do you really mean that?"

"I do." Gwen firmly replied. The look in her eyes letting me know she was completely serious.

"Okay." I relented.

"Right. So, what's next?"

"What do you mean by that?" I asked.

"I mean am I going to get a costume and superhero codename so I can fight crime alongside you?"

"Only if you want to." I replied. "Listen, Gwen. Just because you have these powers doesn't mean you have to use them. I know that sounds selfish but I don't want you jumping into the hero business half-heartedly. For that would do no one any good. And could not only lead to your own death but the death of others. Not to mention the path of a hero isn't easy. I mean I know I make it look that way but it's really not. So again, this is all about what you want and expect from yourself. That's why you should take some time and really, really, consider if putting on a mask is what you truly desire." I explained.

"Okay." She replied. A truly thoughtful expression on her face. "I'll really think about it."

"That's all I ask." I said. "So, ready to head home?"

"Yeah." Gwen replied. Sniffing herself slightly before scrunching up her nose. "Because I definitely need a bath."

"Oh don't worry, you don't smell that bad."

"Says you."

"That's because I love all your smells."

"Disgusting." Gwen playfully retorted.

Leading me to get a mock expression of hurt on my face.

The two of us then shared a laugh.

After which we shared a quick kiss before both heading home.

Where after arrival I took a page from Gwen book and took a nice long shower.

Before heading back off to dreamland.

(3rd Person: POV)

While Peter went back to sleep, Gwen had just finished her own shower after returning home.

Stepping out of the bathroom she moved to put on some clothes.

Only to pause for a moment when she saw herself in the bathroom mirror.

When she noticed that not only did her body look a bit more fit but her breasts had grown slightly larger.

"Well Peter did say his spider physiology enhanced his physical aspects but still, I didn't think these would go." Gwen mused. Slightly pushing her breasts together and examining them for a few more seconds.

Before finally she got on her way and left the bathroom.

Then after she put on her clothes she laid down in her bed and began thinking about what Peter had told her earlier at the Web.

About how she didn't have to be a hero if she didn't want to.

Not to mention everything he had shared with her about his father, Oscorp Industries, and the organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D.

It was all so much.

Even for a genius like her.

In fact the more Gwen thought about it the more her thoughts when around in circles. So much so her head started to hurt.

"Dammit." She muttered. Running a hand through her hair.

Gwen then decided to stop thinking.

After which she got up and put on her shoes and coat.

She then went out of a walk.

An action Gwen often took when she needed to clear her head.

Moving through the city streets she let the sounds of New York City fill her ears and mind to drown out her thoughts.

That is until she rounded a corner and noticed a little boy chasing his soccer ball into the street, just as a truck started coming down it.

The moment she noticed this Gwen's body moved as if in autopilot and she ran into the street, picked up the boy, and moved him out of the way of the truck.

All bystanders turning their attention to her.

Including the boys mother.

Who ran up Gwen and collected her son. Wrapping him in a tight hug.

After she did the mother looked at Gwen. "Thank you young lady. Thank you so much for saving my boy!" She cried.

"It was no trouble at all." Gwen replied.

Smiling.

Feeling a warmth begin in her chest and a sense of satisfaction from saving the young boys life.

Things she would've felt even if no one had thanked her in the first place.

Upon realizing this Gwen found a tiny part of her thoughts just a little clearer.

(Peter: POV)

Sitting on the couch on the Web I waited for Gwen to arrive.

Her having asked to meet me here after school.

Where I had a gloriously wonderful time denying to Harry over and over again that Gwen and I had sex when I asked him to cover for me the other night.

Not to say I don't want to have sex with Gwen mind you.

Because I do.

It's just that we've had so much going on lately we haven't had a chance to progress our relationship any closer to that point.

But that is going to change.

Since there's no way I'm allowing the universe to cock block me.

Oh it can try, but if will most certainly fail.

As I contemplated how I was going to give the universe the middle finger Gwen walked in.

"Hey." I said to her.

"Hello Gwen." Spinner added.

"Good afternoon to you both." She replied. Gwen then moved to stand in front of me. "So I have an announcement to make. The hero game, I want in on it Parker."

"Are you absolutely sure?" I asked. Looking Gwen in her eyes.

"I am." She replied without hesitation. "I'll admit I was on the fence. But a certain incident the other day changed my mind." She revealed.

Gwen then told me how she saved a little boy from being run over by the famous truck-kun.

"That feeling I got from simply doing good, knowing someone didn't have to suffer because of me, just felt right. And I'm guessing that's how you feel every time you put on your mask?"

"More or less." I admitted. "But you know with the joy also comes sorrow." I put a serious expression on my face. "We can't, we won't be able to save everyone Gwen. No matter how hard we try. So are you truly prepared to face that? To bare that responsibility?"

"Peter if I wasn't I would be working on a way to cure myself of these powers right now." Gwen replied. "I want this. No more doubts about it in my mind."

"Alright then." I said. Relaxing my expression. "Then welcome to the superhero game."

"Thank you." Gwen replied.

"And on that note before you even step foot out into the field I'm putting you through a training course from hell."

"Teach me everything you know sensei Peter." Gwen joked.

In response I started stroking an invisible beard, like some wizened old master. "Very well, young grasshopper."

Gwen as usual laughing at my amazing jokes.

"So do you have a name any costume picked out yet?"

"Yes, to both." Gwen replied. "It's actually what I was working on yesterday." She explained.

Gwen then pulled a notebook out of her bag and opened up to a page, revealing to me the designs of her spider costume.

That looked exactly like the costume used by so many other Gwen Stacy's in the Marvel multiverse that obtained spider powers.

She had even chosen the same name.

Ghost-Spider.

"Cool. So what made you choose that costume and name?" I asked. Extremely curious.

Since I don't believe dor a second this is merely coincidence.

"Well it just sort of came to me in a dream, if you can believe it." Gwen replied.

"A dream you have me to thank for." A female voice suddenly spoke up.

Surprising both Gwen and I.

Then before we could even make a move we suddenly found ourselves surrounded by a glowing pink mist.

Then out of it emerged none a very familiar face associated with Spider-Man.

Madam Web.
