Chapter 18 - *Taking Off The Cloak:

Sinyster wasn't sure for just how long that she stood there and allowed Malice to hold her, but pulling herself out of her momentary weakened stupor she pushed herself from him.

Malice stood there for a moment, staring down at her before he decided to break the silence, " I'm not one to judge or care about other's problems but it's obvious that you have gotten yourself into some kind of trouble and clearly don't know how to get out of it." Malice stated coldly because he wasn't one to not notice when someone buried themselves too deep and needed help to get themselves out of it.

He also couldn't help but be a little bit suspicious of Sinyster, she was after all here with Vishious.

Something he needed to keep reminding himself of. Sinyster lifted her head to look Malice in the eye and the look of insult was clear in her eyes as she glared at him.

"Let me make myself perfectly clear, I don't need or expect anyone to take care of the shit that I get myself into! If you honestly think that I cried and let you hold me as some kind of ploy to get you to help me, than you can get away from me and get the hell out of my room.... now!" Sinyster said in an angry, loud voice. She was more than a little pissed now and didn't need anyone thinking that she needed them to save her.

" I never said anything about you trying to manipulate the situation with me so I would take care of your problem, but you do need help with whatever it is, am I right?" Malice replied to her in a flat, cold tone, with clear annoyance in his voice. " So you can either tell me exactly what's going on or you can keep glaring at me like that and see what happens? To make myself very clear I'm not going to beg you to let me help you and I'm not going to waste much more time wanting to offer you help if you need it. So if you need help I suggest you start talking.!" Malice told her in a very demanding tone where there was no room for her to argue. He wasn't going to keep trying to comfort her if she couldn't let him know what was going on and kept making him feel like she was just trying to toy with him.

He wasn't going to blindly step into a situation without first knowing if he could possibly trust her. Especially if it came to possibly going against a Demon Lord like Vishious.

It was obvious that Vishious had something over her that tied her to him, but Malice couldn't help her if she wasn't willing to work with him and start talking. He needed her to tell him something that he could work with and possibly find out also what Vishious was up to concerning Slayer and right now she was the one that could help him get some answers.

After standing there staring down at Sinyster for a few more minutes and Sinyster still not making any attempt to say anything, Malice was over trying to be patient. "Suit yourself!" Malice said in a dismissive tone and turned to leave, he wasn't going to stay here any longer and waste any more time. But, just then he was stopped by Sinyster, grabbing him by his arm.

Malice turned his head to look at her and she instantly let go of him before saying, " Ok, I will fill you in on a little of why I'm working with Vishious." Sinyster said in a quiet voice as she kept looking up at Malice.

She didn't know how much she could rely or even trust this Kamaira, but Malice was right though when he said she needed help and right now, he was the only one who offered and who could possibly help her.

Just then a soft knock came from the door and Sinyster quickly grabbed her cloak and threw it over herself, pulling the hood up to hide her face. " Just be quiet and don't be seen." She whispered to Malice before she turned to walk to answer the door.

She opened it just a crack so she could see who it was that had knocked. It was the maid from earlier, Loree. Upon seeing the door open up a little the maid quickly bowed her head before saying, "MiLady, I just wanted to let you know that dinner will be ready soon and His Majesty is expecting you to attend." The maid said politely.

"Thank you for letting me know, Loree. I appreciate you coming and telling me, let me give you the empty tray from earlier and I want you to be the one to come and get me when dinner is ready, please." Sinyster politely and nicely ordered the maid.

"Of course, MiLady." Loree said, bowing her head slightly to Sinyster before turning and walking down the corridor.

Sinyster quickly closed the door and pulled the hood of her cloak down. She walked to where Malice was still standing and said quietly to him, " Well I guess I better get ready for dinner now. But Vishious has yet to return back here." Sinyster wasn't sure if Vishious would be back tonight or not because if he did return back to his Realm, she knew how different the time ran from this Realms.

"I know His Majesty is well aware of that." Malice said and he knew he better go and fill Slayer in on what he was trying to get out of Sinyster; which he still hadn't found out anything yet. "I'll see you at dinner." Is all he said before he turned and walked out her balcony door.

Sinyster watched as Malice walked out to the balcony and stepped up onto the railing. He turned his head to look at her again briefly before looking forward again. Opening up his massive wings he jumped forward from the balcony.

Sinyster stepped out onto the balcony so she could get a better look at him flying. She watched him fly up and land on the highest tower of the Palace before losing sight of him. She stood on the balcony staring at the place she last saw Malice before he disappeared from her sight. She then turned and walked back inside her room and shut the door behind her.

She walked over to the large vanity that was placed against one of the walls. It was made from the finest Red Wood and had beautiful intricate carvings that went all around it, really captivating the wood's beauty. A large oval shaped mirror was placed in the middle, allowing one to look at themselves as they got ready.

She sat down on the cushioned stool and stared at herself in the mirror's reflection for a while before getting up and walking into the bathroom.

She walked over to the tub and sat down on the side and turned the knob to allow the water to start filling it She felt the water, making sure the water was nice and hot to her liking, before she walked over to the cabinet that held all kinds of different soaps and oils to put in the bathwater to make ones skin soft and smell good and after looking at a few She decided on the Lavender honey oil for her bath.

She walked back over to sit on the side of the tub to pour In the desired amount of oil She wanted. She then waited for the tub to fill before turning it off, she then stood up and walked to the door of her room before she slowly opened it and peaked her head out to look in the hallway, she was hoping that she could spot the maid that she had become familiar with to be able to ask her help with something.

But, the hallway was deserted and Sinyster knew she would have to step out to try and find the maid without anyone seeing her.

She looked both ways to make sure that no one was coming before she quietly started walking in the direction that she knew the maid had walked down when she had left.

She slowly walked down, passing the doors that were on each side, hoping that no one would come out and see her as she tried finding the maid. She reached the end of the hallway and was about to turn the corner when she heard one of the doors that belonged to one of the many rooms open up right behind her.

All she could do was freeze where she stood, she didn't have time to try and hide from whoever it was who was coming out into the hallway.

"MiLady?" Sinyster heard the familiar voice that she knew belonged to the maid that she was in fact looking for.

She turned around and the maid just stood there with a look of surprise on her face. "Loree, I'm so glad it's you", Sinyster said in a relieved voice. Exhaling the breath she had been holding in.

"MiLady, so it is you," Loree said with a light bow and a smile on her face. " I didn't know if in fact it was you or not but seeing a woman I had never seen before walking around in the palace, I had a feeling that it could possibly be you."

"Yes, and it was you actually who I was walking around looking for to be honest." Sinyster said. Returning the friendly smile to Loree as she spoke to her.

"Oh, What is it that you were needing, MiLady?" Loree asked with curiosity in her voice.

"Well, I was hoping that we could possibly talk more about this in my room please, before someone else happened to walk up and see me?" Sinyster asked anxiously. She didn't want to be seen without her cloak on to cover her face.

"Of course," Loree lightly bowed her head and proceeded to follow Sinyster back to her room.

Once they had reached Sinyster's room and got inside and shut the door, Sinyster turned to face Loree before she started talking, "So, I wanted to ask you if you could possibly help me out with something that is probably going to sound a little odd but I really would appreciate your help?" Sinyster began asking hesitantly.

"Whatever it is, Please ask and I'll do my best to help you, MiLady?" Loree asked genuinely. She still had that friendly smile on her face as she spoke.

Sinyster appreciated Loree so much for being so sweet and helpful to her. She then continued to ask, "Is there anyway by chance that you could possibly be able to help me get a dress that I could wear to dinner tonight? I was thinking of attending in a more formal way, instead of wearing my cloak tonight but I don't have any dresses or anything nice to wear for such an occasion." Sinyster asked with a hopeful and desperate look on her face as she stood there facing the maid.

Loree's smile widened at what Sinyster had just asked her. She squealed in excitement before quickly saying, "I'll be right back!" Loree then turned and rushed out the door before Sinyster could even say anything. Sinyster was so grateful for meeting the maid and for how kind and helpful that the maid has been to her in the short amount of time since they met.

Back at home, Sinyster had a very good and close relationship with all her maids and with everyone who served her. They were more like a big family and she would always invite her maids to join her for tea. She never treated those who served her harshly.

She didn't agree with how the ones who had money and power treated the people who served and worked for them.

Servants were treated cruelly by most who owned them, thought of as if they're lives didn't matter and used however their owner chose. The servants were either a servant to take care of the home and serve the owners family or were bought to be temporary entertainment in their owners bedroom.

Once the servant was of no longer any use in the owners eyes the servant would be killed or traded for another.

Life was mostly harsh, hard and cruel for those who lived a life of being a servant and it was rare for a servant to be bought and taken in by an owner who treated them kindly and didn't beat and kill them.

Sinyster couldn't help but think about home while she waited for Loree to return and she couldn't help but think of Payne.

Sinyster had created Payne. Using her black magic and some of her own blood she had done experiments and after many failed attempts she was finally successful in taking part of her very own soul out. It nearly killed her using her magic and her own life force in this way, but she was finally successful in her mission to creating another life. Something that went not only against the Laws of Nature, but it went against the Rules of the Realms as well.

Sinyster was pulled out of her thoughts by a light knock on her bedroom door and she quickly went to open it and allow the maid to hurry inside. Loree was holding a couple dresses in her arms and it was obvious to see that she was excited and looking forward to helping Sinyster get ready for dinner tonight.

" MiLady, I brought you a couple of dresses that I had that are made from high quality materials and made for the higher class people. They had been given to me by one of the princesses that belong to the neighboring Kingdom Chiloquin, when their King visited last year for the peace treaty renewal with His Majesty." Loree said to Sinyster while holding up a dress in each hand for Sinyster to see.

Walking closer to where the maid was standing, Sinyster could see that the dresses that Loree had brought for her to choose from were in fact beautifully made. "Thank you so much for helping me out with this Loree. I also hope that I'm not interrupting your duties that you need to get done? I wouldn't want to cause you to get into any trouble because of me." Sinyster said to Loree and was glad she saw the maid didn't drop her friendly smile towards her.

"You're very welcome, MiLady. I also appreciate your concern but I have already finished what chores I was assigned to do today and was just doing extra to keep myself busy, so I should be fine." Loree filled her in and Sinyster couldn't hold back the smile that came to her face. It was nice to have someone who was nice and cheery with her.

"May I speak openly with you, MiLady?" Loree asked while lightly bowing her head as she spoke.

"Yes, Please feel free to say what's on your mind." Sinyster responded.

"First, I would like to say thank you for being kind to me. It's not something that I receive from His Majesty's guests very often and wanted to let you know that I truly appreciate how you've been with me.

Also, I hope you don't mind me asking but I would very much love it if I could help you to get ready for dinner?" Hearing this from Loree, was something that touched Sinyster's heart. She stepped closer to the maid and without thinking she hugged Loree.

This wasn't something that had ever happened before in all her years of being a maid and it surprised her how compassionate this woman she had just met was towards her.

"Sorry if I made you uncomfortable by hugging you?" Sinyster apologized while taking a step back. "I would very much appreciate it if you would help me." Sinyster said and hoped she didn't make the maid uncomfortable by her actions.

"You didn't make me uncomfortable by hugging me, I've just never had that happen before and would be honored in help you, MiLady." Loree told Sinyster.

"Thank you, again. And ok I'll go hurry and get in the bath and get myself all cleaned up, so we can start getting ready for dinner." Sinyster said before she turned and hurried into the bathroom. She quickly bathed and when she got out, she walked out of the bathroom having only a towel wrapped around her while she tried to figure out what dress she was going to wear for dinner.

Loree had laid both dresses on the bed so Sinyster could get a better look at them. The dress that she had decided on was black with a blue inner skirt that went to her knees and the sleeves were long yet loose enough not to press tightly on her skin, and it had a blue scarf that went with it to go around her neck. It fit her perfectly and complimented her figure, showing off her womanly curves and how perfectly proportioned her body was.

Sinyster sat in front of the vanity and silently watched Loree as she took extreme care to put her hair up in a partial bun, with two braids, one on each side that she had crown the sides of her head, letting the back part stay down. She then curled the hair in the back with tight curls that Lore left beautiful spiral curls before draping her hair over one of her shoulders.

Loree then applied a light pink gloss on Sinyster's lips and just a little eyeshadow that had a glittery look to it to bring out the colors of her eyes more.

Sinyster was surprised to see how she looked when everything was finished.Turning to look at Loree who was standing behind her, she said, "Thank you, for helping me get ready and for making me look and feel beautiful tonight."

"You're already beautiful, MiLady. I'm glad you like what I did." Loree said with a big smile on her face.
