Sinyster, as well as the other guests began enjoying their dinner that was served to them. The maids came out with trays that held beverages of Blood wine, or water for the guests to drink, but Sinyster was so focused on her food that she didn't notice the maid that came to stand right behind her until a glass of water was placed next to her plate in front of her.
She quickly looked over her shoulder to see Loree who held a polite smile on her face and Sinyster was happy to see the maid who she had become friends with.
"Thank you very much for the water," Sinyster said with a light bow of her head.
"Of course, MiLady. Can I bring you anything else?" Loree asked, giving a small bow of her head to Sinyster as she spoke.
"No thank you," Sinyster answered and watched as the maid then turned to head back towards the kitchen with the other maids who had finished handing out the beverages to the guests.
She than heard Slayer speak and she quickly turned her head to look at him, " Let me properly introduce you to everyone," Slayer said to Sinyster. He looked to his right side first, "As you know, This is Commander Beast of the Howler's Kamaira Clan."
Sinyster gave a polite nod towards Beast saying, "It's good to see you again, Commander. It's been quite a long time since our last interaction." Sinyster said politely. Noticing How the Commander had a predatory look in his slitted golden eyes. Beast chose not to return Sinyster's greeting and ran his tongue along one of his razor sharp fangs. Sinyster understood what was meant by the Commander's action.
"Next is General Grievance and General Gruesome, both are from the Ryot Kamaira Clan." Slayer introduced. Sinyster politely smiled and gave a small nod of her head at the two Generals. Their appearance was something that she found to be scary and something one wouldn't imagine ever seeing. Their huge humanly looking bodies were massive with grey scaly skin and their boar heads, where one had horns coming out on both sides on top of its head. While the other had horns protruding out of its lower jaw. Sinyster couldn't help but feel uneasy and nervous while they sat there looking at her. Both of the Generals also chose not to greet her when Slayer introduced them and instead just looked at her with their intimidating eyes that held nothing but bloodlust in them.
'Slayer doesnt seem to think that the lack of response from his Commander and Generals is rude?' Sinyster couldn't help but think to herself as Slayer continued on with introducing her to everyone at the table.
Slayer, done with introducing her to everyone sitting on his right side, now turned to look to his left, continuing on with the introductions, " You have already met Malice. Next is Commander Anguish, she is also of the Howler Kamaira Clan."
Sinyster noticed how Malice didn't even look up from his food when Slayer mentioned his name. She stared at him for a few seconds longer before finally moving her gaze away and making eye contact with the female Commander. She offered the Commander a small,polite smile and a light bow of her head.
"So how long are you visiting exactly?" asked Commander Anguish. This caught Sinyster off guard because she was expecting anyone to speak to her while she was being introduced. For none of the others had greeted or spoken to her.
She quickly looked up at the Commander and noticed how she looked at her with a hint of amusement and curiosity in her slitted golden eyes. Sinyster couldn't help but feel intimidated under this Kamaira's gaze, "I'm wanting to spend at least another week or so here. That is if my brother doesn't mind having me stay that long with him, that is?" Sinyster said and then moved her eyes to look at her brother when she finished saying that.
Slayer didn't say anything to what Sinyster just said to Anguish right away and then after a short while he just gave a small nod to Sinyster.
This left Sinyster feeling a little confused and unsure exactly what Slayer really thought of her being here at his Palace. She would have to confirm his thoughts on her staying with him later and chose to just brush it off for the time being.
When Sinyster moved her eyes to look back at Commander Anguish, she noticed how the Commander hadn't taken her eyes off of her. "Well I'm sure he wouldn't mind having you stay here for as long as you're wanting to stay." Anguish said in a very nice tone and then continued on to say, "So is Lord Vishious staying as long as you or does he have other plans? You did mention how you came here with him after all?" Anguish asked in a very interested tone. Bringing her arms up to place her elbows on the table and interlocking her fingers together to place them under her chin, closely watching Sinyster.
Sinyster wasn't sure as to how she should go about answering this question because she honestly didn't really know how long brother Vishious is planning his visit for." Sinyster answered and she was starting to become very uncomfortable with the way the Commander still never took her eyes off of her. As if trying to read if she was telling the truth or not when she spoke.
Sinyster noticed the stark contrast between Commander Beast and Commander Anguish.
Beast who looked vicious and his presence demanded fear and respect from all who came to be in his company. Whose massive build showed how strong and formidable he truly was. Scars could be seen all over his body, but they didn't tarnish the Commanders looks, who was still magnificent to look upon. She also couldn't help but notice the distrust and suspicion towards her was clearly seen in the way he looked at her.
On the other hand, Commander Anguish exuded a aura of stunning beauty and poise.Her fur was a shiny silk black and the light from the chandeliers hanging over them reflected off her, letting everyone see how her fur glistened in the light.
A diamond - shaped patch of fur on her forehead was a striking feature that caught one's attention immediately because she was the only Kamaira in the Howler's clan that had such a marking on her face.
Sinyster admired the Commander's confident and graceful demeanor.
Sinyster was snapped out of her thoughts when Suddenly two young Kamaira's came running up to the table and stopped next to the female Commander. One was from the Howler's Clan and the other was of the Ryot Clan. Sinyster noticed the gentleness and love that the Commander's eyes now held as she looked at the two boys.
" Are you boys already finished with eating?" Anguish asked them in a low, sweet tone.
"Yes, mother," Both the boys answered together. Sinyster was a little surprised to hear both of the boys call the Commander mother, since it was obvious that one of the boys wasn't a Howler.
'Is her husband perhaps from the Ryot Clan?' Sinyster wondered to herself.
"Are you boys ready to get going home then?" Anguish asked them and this had both the boys nod. "Did you thank His Majesty for the dinner tonight?" She continued to say, in a more louder and firm voice.
"Not yet mother but don't worry we were just letting His Majesty have a little more time to eat His dinner before we bothered Him." Replied the young Ryot Kamaira.
Anguish then looked at Sinyster before saying, "I would like you boys to meet someone, this is His Majesty's sister, Sinyster. Sinyster these are my two sons, Tantrum is the one standing on the left and Mischief is the one on the right." Anguish introduced the boys that were standing on either side of her.
"It's a pleasure to meet you two." Sinyster said to them with a warm smile and bowing her head lightly at them as she spoke. The boys were quick to bow to her and the boy named Tantrum surprisingly spoke in an excited, rushed tone, "It's nice to be able to meet you." He had a big, sweet smile on his face and his eyes sparkled with fascination and interest. This melted Sinyster's heart seeing the genuine sweetness from the young Kamaira. Tantrum was the son who resembled his mother, while Mischief resembled what Sinyster assumed was his father.
Anguish laughed seeing how excited her son was to meet Sinyster. " I hope you're ready to answer a million questions?" Anguish said while she laughed. She then continued to say, " Tantrum is my son who likes to learn and study the different creatures and demons that he meets and you being Slayer's sister, is going to make you that much more interesting to him."
"Well I'm more than happy to answer any and all questions that Tantrum may have for me." Sinyster said genuinely, smiling at Tantrum as she said this.
This had Tantrums eyes grow wide with excitement hearing that, his smile grew even wider as well. But, before he could say anything to Sinyster, Anguish quickly intervened to say, " Well,We'll have to plan for another time for you to ask her your questions, Tantrum." And hearing this had the young Kamaira instantly looking disappointed and crushed at his mother, as if she had just denied him his dreams.
Sinyster couldn't help but laugh at this
reaction from Tantrum and this got all three of the Kamaira families attention.
" Your mother is right, it is late, but how about tonight you take the time and write down all the questions that you'd like to ask me when you get back home. How does that sound?"Sinyster said to him in a fond and sweet tone. She then continued to add, "that way you don't forget anything when we see each other again." She said, bringing her hand up to cradle one side of tantrums face.
This brought the excitement back to Tantrum's eyes and his reptilian tail wagged from side to side and he nodded quickly before saying, "That's a great idea, thank you. Can you come see me tomorrow then?"
This question had Sinyster to quickly look up at the Commander, she wasn't sure how she should answer her son's question. And it was Anguish who spoke up and answered her son's question saying, "Why don't we give Sinyster a couple days to spend with His Majesty and then we can make plans for us to get together again? Maybe she can come have dinner with us at our house?" Anguish said to Tantrum from before her eyes landed on Sinyster.
"Will you really come and spend time at our house with us?" both the boys said simultaneously. Sinyster looked at Anguish, not sure if her invitation to have dinner with them at their house was genuine or if the mother was just trying to get her son to leave the Palace more easily tonight. She was surprised to see the Commander smiling at her in a friendly way and then said," We'd love to have you over for dinner, if you have the time and would like?"
Sinyster quickly nodded her head before standing up, answering the Commander, "I would be honored to join you and your family for dinner, thank you. Just let me know what day exactly and I will definitely be there." She said bowing her head at Anguish as she said this.
"Would three nights from now work?" Anguish asked. The Commander could tell that Sinyster's appreciation and excitement was genuine and this had the Commander wonder if Slayer's Sister was a good person and really had no ill intentions coming here with Lord Vishious. She couldn't help but want to try and pry a little bit if she could get the chance to do so.
"Yes, that'll work," Sinyster answered in an upbeat voice.
"We'll see you at dinner then." Anguish confirmed and she then turned to look at her boys before saying,"Why don't you two go and thank His Majesty now for the dinner and wish Sinyster a good evening. It's getting late and we should be heading home now." Anguish said to her boys in a soft and soothing voice.
"Yes,Ok Mother." Tantrum and Mischief turned towards Sinyster and then said together, " Goodnight, MiLady." They both bowed their heads at her as they spoke and then walked to the opposite side of the table to where Slayer sat. Slayer gave the boys his full attention when they came up to stand next to him.
"Thank you, Uncle for dinner," Tantrum said politely. And Mischief then added, " Yes, Uncle it was cool having dinner at the palace tonight." Mischief grunted as he spoke. Both the boys bowing their heads to Slayer. This shocked Sinyster to hear them call Slayer, Uncle. She realized just how close her brother actually was with the ones sitting at the table with him tonight.
" I'm happy you all came. You two better take care of your mother and don't give her a hard time." Slayer said and sent a look at Anguish with a teasing smile on his face as he spoke to the boys.
"Good night, Your Majesty," Anguish said as she rolled her eyes at Slayer. She then looked at Sinyster and said, " I hope you have a good night as well. It was nice to have met you and we look forward to seeing you again soon." Giving a small bow of her head at Sinyster.
"Thank you, and it was nice meeting you and your children. Goodnight, Commander." Sinyster said back, giving a small bow of her head in return. The boys waved good bye to her and quickly went running towards the dining hall doors.
Anguish then turned and started walking down the steps to proceed in walking towards the large double dining hall doors after her two boys. "You boys better go straight home and don't take any detours, it's late and you both need to get to bed once we get back." Anguish yelled after the boys as they ran out of the room.
'I wonder where her husband is?' Sinyster thought to herself. She couldn't help but wonder about this since it was obvious that he was not present tonight at dinner with Anguish and the boys.
Sinyster's thoughts were interrupted when she heard General Gruesome and General Grievance say while getting up from their seats, " Well we should also be getting our families home, it is getting late. Thank You,Your Majesty for having us join you tonight for dinner." General Grievance grunted in a very deep, emotionless voice. Both of them than bowed their heads to Slayer.
"Goodnight," Slayer nodded to them. Letting them know that it was ok for them to leave now. They both didn't bother to even glance in Sinyster's direction as they turned and left the dining hall with their families. It was then that Sinyster noticed that Commander Beast was no longer in the room. 'Im pretty sure that he never said anything and I would've noticed if he had gotten up and walked out. So when did he leave and why would he leave without saying anything first?' she wondered to herself in her mind. She found that to be rather odd.
She than heard Slayer say to her, " So did you enjoy your dinner tonight?" She turned her head towards her brother and was glad to see that his eyes had softened again when he looked at her.
"Yes, the food was delicious," she said with a smile. She had truly missed her brother and she felt a prick in her chest when she thought of why she was here. If Vishious wouldn't have called her here, she didn't know when she would've seen Slayer again.
Slayer noticed the sadness in his sister's eyes and how she looked conflicted as she sat back down in her seat in front of him, lost in her thoughts. He knew she was hiding something and knew he had only a little time with her without Vishious being around to stop her from talking to him. " I'm glad you decided to come to dinner tonight and that you didn't come hiding behind your cloak again." Slayer tried reading Sinyster's expression as he said this to her and continued. "You have always come to me when you had something going on that you needed help with and I'm sorry for how things have turned out between us. It's been so many years now and you've gotten used to not being to where you must feel like you can't come to me or maybe it's just that you've gotten to where you don't need to anymore? Just know that It was never my intention for you to feel as if I wouldn't be there for you if you ever really needed me." Slayer said this in a flat,short tone. As he sat there looking at her as he spoke.
Sinyster couldn't hold her brother's gaze as he said this to her and she had to look down to avoid her emotions from showing for Slayer to see. She knew as much as she wanted to tell Slayer everything about what was going on and of the mess she was in right now, but she knew that she just couldn't involve her brother in this.
Vishious' intentions were still unclear, even to her still. And therefore, she just couldn't provide any clear answers that Slayer was wanting to know or what he would be getting involved with if she did in fact open up to him.
Vishious wasn't someone who could easily be taken down and he could possibly kill Slayer if he tried to go up against him. She couldn't bear it if something were to happen to Slayer because he tried to protect her or something.
"I understand why you chose to stay away from me after the last time we saw each other and I never blamed you and never had ill feelings towards you for it, brother." Sinyster said in a quiet voice. "And I know that you'd always be there to help me and wouldn't mind stepping into my problems if I came to you but I just can't get you involved this time. I'm sorry but please try and understand." She finished speaking to him, still avoiding looking up and meeting his gaze.
"So you are in some sort of trouble and that's why you're even involved with Vishious?" Slayer said with a frown coming to form on his brow.
"It's complicated but I need you to know something...." Sinyster started saying before her words were cut off when she heard someone else unexpectedly say,
" I'm glad I didn't miss dinner," this had Slayer and Sinyster quickly look towards the direction the voice had suddenly came from just to see Vishious was now standing only a few steps away from where they were sitting.
