Chapter 40 - Death of the elder

Seth and Mongrel looked upon two guards, each heavily armoured with bidents in their grasp, readied and waiting for any problem that could arise.

Their dark scales shimmered amongst the golden, a dark void amongst the splendor of the hall.

Seth advanced to the corner.

'On three' he whispered, not taking his eyes away from the Druin. His hands slowly flowed over his gun, reading his weapon.

Readied, he stood, a quick turn and his gun would be trained on the Druin.

'one' He cleared his chamber.

'two' loaded a bullet.

'three' he moved.

Boom, his gun blasted, the sound was like a cannon drowning out all other sound.

The two druin fell.

Like phantoms they sped though the halls.

The Druin on the left was nothing more then mangled flesh, his chest caved in.

The ground beneath him visible through the crater that was his chest.

The blood that was left slowly dripping from every orifice.

Mongrel drew a cross on his chest at the sight before him.

The doors heavy, slowly moved as Mongrel and Seth pushed against it.

Seth and Mongrel made it into the room.

...

'When will we get there?' asked the captain as she looked around scrutinizing the halls, anger flushed upon her serene face before she suppressed it.

'Why are we going in circles?' she asked her anger breaking through her voice.

'What do you mean' replied the man, his eyes looking upon the captain his eyes glinting with mocking joy 'Do you not trust me? Do you think I would guide you wrong'

The captain flustered, her scales shaking and fluttering, the rattling sound as her scales rubbed against one another.

'ENOUGH!' Razaloth grunted as he seized the arm of the man.

'brute... unhand me. The elder will know of this atrocious behavior'

'Why don't we tell him together' he said as he drew closer to the man, his grip treating to crush the bones in his arm.

"Owww, you brute. Stop please, please" Razaloth squeezed his arm harder the bones in his arms squeaked under the pressure of his grip.

"Please. I will take you to the elder, I promise" pleaded the man as he collapsed to his knees from the pain.

"I promise, so please stop" the man begged on his knees, his eyes watering scales on end.

"Razaloth please stop, it is enough" said the captain, her eyes softer seeing the man who was begging to keep his arm.

Finally, Razaloth released the man from his agony.

"Take us to the Elder, now" Razaloth spat towards the man as he looked down on the crumpled heap of a druin cradling his arm, his scales still flared from the pain.

The captain and Razaloth stride along the corridors, the crippled druin dragged his body along, rushing to get in front of the duo to lead them.

The long corridors suddenly shortened now that they were on the proper route.

Soon they began to move along the opulent corridors the halls growing larger and imposing the halls more grand with each turn and step.

Closing in on the elders room, the man failing to get in front of the duo barked where to go always keeping away from Razaloth, hiding behind the captain.

"How much further?" Razaloth said, his fists squeezed tight as his eyes traced around the small man.

"One more turn then you will see the elders room, I promise" the man spluttered as his body unconsciously shivered at the thought of angering this man in front of him, shadow black and terrifying.

Razaloth looked into the Druins purple eyes. Shifting, not keeping his eye contact he continued to study them looking for deceit. When non was found he turned and continued.

"If you are wrong, not even the elder himself will stop what I do to you. You better not be wasting more of my time"

The captain followed along, worry etched upon her pristine scales and amethyst eyes.

The trio continued the hall, now large enough to hold ten men standing side by side.

"The waste, all this titanium that could be used to fight the humans. The space where druin could live on this enormous ship" Razaloth grumbled thinking of all his father had sacrificed, his body, future and eventually his own life, all deemed necessary, but was it when the elder could live in a place like this.

He held his broken body back. He needed this elder, they needed the elders "There had to be a good reason right? They could not be this wasteful"

Around the corner Razaloth saw the two mangled bodies of the Druin guards who where now splattered across the wall and floor, bloody pulp of a druin on the left.

"What is going on?" the captain said in shock about the scene around them.

"Human's" Razaloth shouted, grabbing a dead druin's weapon before throwing the second Druin's weapon to the captain "get ready".

"This is a bident" replied the captain, the weapon heavy in her hands as she stared in shock at the body 'What weapon could kill a Gunner in a single shot without them being able to resist?'

"Snap out of it"

"What can I do" asked the captain, the weapon impossibly heavy in her arms, the implication of it known to all around.

"Follow my lead" said Razaloth as he studied the captain, her hands shaking and her body swaying "Point that side into the room and don't shoot the elder or me".

"Don't shoot the elder" cried the crippled man as his hysterically waved around his working arm.

Razaloth rolled his eyes 'did I not just say that'.

Razaloth steadied himself as he looked around at what he was working with, who would be holding his back. As he saw what was happening, a captain not enhanced in any way shaking at the gruesome scene in front of him and a weak pathetic man behind him not even attempting to hide his terror. 'Fuck, I am better off by myself'

"Do not come into the room until I say so" he said, looking the captain in the eyes. Her amethyst eyes shining back with the wet tears she refused to let fall.

"You will be okay, this will all be okay" he said thinking of what his father would say to him whenever he was scared.

'It will be okay, the ancestors are watching' he thought as he braced himself against the door.
