Chapter 6 - The accident

When I got up we were on the side of the road. A drunk driver probably hit us and I slept right through it. Neither one of us were hurt but, the car was in pretty bad shape. So we ended up going to a motel right down the road. We grabbed all of our things and headed to the motel. Once we were situated and had everything set up. My worker was looking out the window through the blinds constantly. She looked very uneasy. I had a bunch of knots in my stomach and this really massive urge to run. So I walked over to her and asked her what the problem was. She looked at me, placed her hand over my mouth and a finger over hers. So I quietly sat back down on my chair and watched her. It was so quiet I felt like it was suffocating me. A few minutes wemt by in pure silence. I watched her look horrified as she let go of the blinds. Then she pulled out her phone and began calling someone. She gave them the motel address but didn't tell them the room she was in. Me being the nosey person I am. I looked outside and across from us she stood next to a man I recognized. Ms.B was trying to break into the room across from us. I looked at my worker with a terrified look on my face. I looked at her and said I thought she was dead. I saw her fall. I don't understand. My worker just looked over to me and shushed me all over again. Moments later she received a text. Then motioned for me to follow her. So we grabbed my things and went through the door. All the doors were inside from a main hall. She ushered me to the office and he handed her a set of keys. Then led us to a parking lot that was filled with cars. There was a set of four cars in specific. We got into the biggest one. Only she wasn't the one driving. We were both in the back seat. The other 3 cars were filled with people as well. We all drove away together. Driving as if we were an entire group that just checked out. As we drove out ms.b and her man stopped the cars by standing in front of them. I was in the very back sitting in the third row seat. One by one they looked into the car. Naturally I ducked because I didn't want to be seen. Practically laying down so if they checked they wouldn't see me. Luckily there was a dog in the back with me. So they just assumed the seat was for him. Once we were moving again I sat back up. We were driving pretty fast. I was starting to feel nauseous and so I grabbed one of the plastic bags and threw up. We drove right into the next town. Once we got there the people pulled over. They took all of their things from the vehicle and helped me into the back seat. They grabbed the bag filled with throw up and looked at me with sympathetic looks. Then gave my worker a piece of paper and got into one of the other vehicles. We drove pretty fast for a long while. Naturally I fell back asleep. We pulled into a different building. It was huge and looked a lot like the state office where she worked. Only the color was different and it was way bigger. We grabbed all my things and went inside. My worker seemed worried still. When we got inside she motioned me to follow her. She led me to a wall. Behind that wall there was a staircase. When we were on the stairs she turned around and it slid til it was closed. Once we reached the bottom I saw a room that looked like it wasn't even there. She told me to go in and lock the door and so I did. The room was pretty big. I could tell it was some kind of cell. It was complete with bathroom, microwave, table and chairs. I think it was a visitation room only not visible unless you knew where to look. Pretty cool actually. I was very impressed. Sitting down my stomach started to grumble. Probably because I just threw up my entire meal. So I grabbed one of the plates and stuck it in the microwave. My social worker walked into the room and locked the door behind her. Then moments later everything went dark. My worker walked over to me and again shushed me. The back up generator came on and she quickly turned off the microwave. We heard a lot of banging and other loud noises. The sounds were getting closer. My heart began to race and I was starting to feel light headed. So I sat down and stayed as quiet as possible. Then she said this room is finger print operated from the outside. It's sound proof and bullet proof. So if they found the room the only way to access it is with the keys that we have. This room is a witness protected room. They cannot find us and cannot get to us. We were down here for a few hours now. I've managed to eat my food, drink 5 water bottles, taken a shower and changed my clothes. When I got out of the bathroom I noticed there was a really large tv on a stand. When I took a closer look I realized it was not a TV but a live feed of the building. She was searching the grounds and watching as everything was happening. Some of the workers fought really bravely to help protect us. There was a lot of screaming and questions. I never saw so much blood before in my life. I was terrified. What if they found us? What would happen to us then? I was beginning to hyperventilate again when a bunch of police showed up and started checking the place out. We watched as the men that stormed the place took off in different directions. The ambulance people were there as well and there were a lot of people on the ground. One man in specific was in the corner. Completely unharmed. I took a closer look at him. He was wearing different clothes but I recognized him. He was the guy from ms.b foster home. So I told her I recognized him and pointed him out. Told her that was one of the guys from ms.b foster home. Her face looked at me with shock and horror. Then she said he was the head of the department. Then she said he wasn't even supposed to be there today. I don't even know how or when he got here. Neither of us knew what to do at that moment. Everyone was busy being questioned or getting medical help. At this point everyone was preoccupied. Some were patched up pretty fast. One lady though in specific. She requested to be taken outside for questioning. When they returned the police arrested 3 of the men in the building. The head of the department started asking questions. Where are they? Are they safe? Then something in his mind clicked and he started to smirk. He went straight into his office and came out with what looked like keys for every room in this building. We watched him as he slowly made his rounds pretending to care. It made it pretty convincing that he was shocked about what had just happened. The police caught his arm and looked him up and down. Then the paramedic approached him and he tried to refuse. That's when the police said it's protocol. Then began questioning him and reminding him he might be in shock. Once they were finished he started walking towards the hallway where the hidden room was. That's when fear flashed on her face and through my body. I was beginning to panic all over again. Then I felt a pull on my arm. It felt more like I was being yanked. Together we pushed some of the dressers and heavy things towards the door. We just kept piling things on top of each other. Then once we ran out of space we started placing them in front of the heavy table. To help slow him down from getting inside. Then she gestured to me quietly to follow her.
