Synopsis
She stared at me and after a few minutes of silence "Your name?" she asked         "I am Aizel " I replied. Commoners usually don't have last name.         "Then you can call me Leona, I am a knight of the duke… I would like to repay you…By taking you in and training you. What do you think?" I looked at her shocked by the sudden invitation         "Ho---How could you take are take me in when you don't even know my origin?!" I exclaimed         "How could I? Based on what I see you probably live alone considering you stayed here till now and didn't go back. An orphan but not a slave, I also saw few handmade traps before I passed out and I am assuming it is yours base on how you skinned and cooked the wolf meat and the reason you are here" she said pointing at the meat in front of her that I have prepared.         I stayed silent that confirmed her thoughts and avoided her sharp gaze that pierce through me with only little clues she noticed.         "Hmm, I'm right then" she smiled "don't worry, I won't kill or punished you for entering here after all you have saved me and that is also why I'm offering you to come with me." She said         Pondering a little with a complicated feelings I said "I—I want to…I'm willing to follow you!" I slowly said with determination. She smiled.

Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: First Night of Winter

On the cold night in the slums, a snow flake slowly falls to my arm while a cold wind blows in my small frail body. Harsh winter has finally started, It brings both blessing and hardship for us. It is the most ruthless season for us beggars and especially the street children like me. My small skinny body's shivering as I hug myself tighter trying to cover my body more of some dirty rags I found in the side.
"When will this end?" I muttered. Slowly getting up and walking to my hiding place which I can even call my home now. Passing by different kinds of people on the way, Criminals, Commoners, Beggars of different ages be it old or young and even managing to catch a glimpse of nobles outside of this dirty dark street.
My small hands are starting to feel numb from cold as I continue to walk to a broken down house somewhere on the abandoned street just a few miles outside the royal castle "It must be comfortable living in the palace" I can only say to myself as I look at the peeking towering walls on the trees I pass by. As I arrive to my destination I looked at my reflection on a bucket full of clear water
Dark gray hair that's just above my shoulder, greasy and dirty for not being washed too long. My Skinny body that is full of scratches and even some wounds on my arms, knees and legs. A body that doesn't look like it belongs to a normal healthy 16 year old Child.
I wasn't a noble before, but at least I used to live far better life than a normal commoner but that all ended as both my father and brother ended up dead on one of their mercenary mission. One of the things I'm thankful about is that I've learned to hunt and fight, it might be one of the few reasons I've manage to scape from being captured by slave hunters.
I hate winter as it is a harsh season but it is also a good season where I can catch bigger prays with my traps in the forest. And tomorrow is one of the days where I am scheduled to go out of the city and look at my traps in the forest. I lay some firewood on the dirt and proceed to light them. Again I continue to thank my father and brother for teaching me this, if not for them then I'll be hopeless and would have died in this cold winter night or even worst, would become a slave and plaything to whom ever bought me after.
I haven't eaten anything for the whole day and I only have some small frozen raw rabbit meat hidden in the house. I've been saving this as my last meal till I go visit my trap again in the forest. It is rare to catch preys with only traps but I have no choice as I am too weak to physically catch them myself. That is way I still roam the streets for food or money at days I don't visit the forest.
After I finished roasting the meat and have eaten it, I curled up sitting near the fire for warm as I drifted off to a sleep, there are wind blowing outside the broken house and few snow can be seen. The first day of winter is not as harsh but there is still a looming danger waiting for us as these seasons continue.
