Chapter 14 - Chapter 15: We're Already Married (5)

Old Man Caldwell was so angry he nearly coughed up blood, "Can love put food on the table? Can it sustain you for a lifetime? Without money, where does your love come from? If it weren't for your old man here, would that kid talk about any damn love with you? Marry you? Don't even think about it, Tessa Caldwell, get divorced immediately!!"

"I won't," Tessa weakly refused.

Grandma saw that Tessa was impervious to reason, and her lips trembled with anger as she spat out harsh words, "If you don't divorce, you'll suffer in the future," then she looked at her son Kenneth Caldwell, "Look at the fine daughter you've raised, just like her mother, she's insane."

'My mom is not insane, she's just driven crazy by you, you old hag!' Tessa really wanted to shout back like this.

But she remained calm on the surface, showing neither joy nor anger, and said, "Grandma, starting today, you must listen to the doctor's advice, take care of your health, live a long life, and burn incense every day to pray to Buddha for longevity, so you can see how good my marriage is and how happy my life will be."

Grandma was so choked with anger that her stare was like two daggers piercing into Tessa.

She clutched her chest as if she were having a heart attack, struggling to catch her breath.

Dad Caldwell was a very filial son; he immediately frowned and reprimanded, "Tessa Caldwell, how can you talk to Grandma like that."

"Ah? Did I say something wrong?" Tessa, looking pitiful and innocent, responded, "I want Grandma to live a long life to see my happiness, is that wrong? Could it be, Dad, that you want Grandma to die early?"

Grandma was once again furious, knocking over the teacup on the table: "You wretched girl! You are truly so ill-mannered."

The teacup shattered on the ground, shards flying everywhere.

Tessa scoffed, "I have no manners? With the head of the family crooked, the tail will be too. Grandma, you say I have no manners, but that's saying my dad has no manners. If my dad has no manners, doesn't that imply you, Grandma, do you think seducing someone's husband, and then having a son with him is called having manners..."

"You! Kenneth, look at the wretched daughter you raised..." Grandma's voice was trembling with anger, pointing at Tessa's nose, wanting to lash out, yet unable to speak.

"Shut up, Tessa Caldwell!"

"Dad, am I wrong? Grandma's manners are just about her grandson..."

Seeing his own mother nearly faint from anger, Dad Caldwell raised his hand, ready to strike Tessa.

The fierce gust of his palm waved towards her face, yet Tessa didn't dodge, just steadily looked at Dad Caldwell with a smile at the corner of her mouth.

Dad Caldwell merely wanted to scare her, not truly intending to hit her.

But her smile made him feel that this daughter was truly too unruly and really needed a good lesson.

However, the palm did not land; it was suddenly stopped by a strong hand.

Faye had somehow come to stand in front of Tessa, intercepting Kenneth Caldwell's hand, gripping it tightly to stop him!

Zion Caldwell, who was behind, also took a step forward but then paused, his gaze flickering as he looked at Faye.

Faye stood tall, with an assertive, cold aura, gazing down at Kenneth Caldwell with calm indifference, eyes as cold as ice, a hint of warning in his deep, rich voice, "She's already married, she's a member of the Fawkes Family."

The implication was clear, she's my woman, even if you're her father, you can't lay a hand on her!

I, Faye, will not allow it!
