Karen Yates had a constant smile on her face, looking ingratiating.
Tessa thought she looked like a sow in heat who had just seen the Gluttonous General come down from the heavens.
Zion Caldwell returned the smile to each of them, greeted Grandma, then turned his gaze to Tessa, scrutinizing her with a complex and profound expression: "You're back."
"Yeah!" Tessa reluctantly curled her lips, which counted as a smile towards him.
However, she seemed a little more restrained than usual, lowering her head timidly, clearly not planning to speak further.
It was unclear if it was because of Grandma or because of Zion, her brother without blood ties.
All of a sudden, she spotted Faye coming down the stairs. She broke into a big smile and ran over immediately, "Hubby, are you done talking with Dad?"
The moment she said this, Zion's expression froze, staring at Tessa as if he were a husband catching his wife cheating. But after the first glance, Tessa didn't even spare him a sidelong look.
Faye glanced at Zion indifferently, his eyes narrowing slightly.
He reached out to support Tessa's waist and leaned into her ear, speaking softly, "Hmm, let's go home."
They had barely taken two steps when Kenneth Caldwell followed them downstairs, looking quite angry, and shouted at their backs, "Stop!"
"Tessa Caldwell, do you know what kind of family background this guy has? Do you know how messy the modeling industry is? Which of these minor celebrities and models doesn't want to snag a wealthy young master or socialite? How can you be so gullible? He's after your identity as the Caldwell family's daughter, and he's only with you for Caldwell Group, for the money. You actually believe if you didn't marry him, he would kill himself for you."
Faye raised an eyebrow at Tessa, "Suicide?"
Tessa laughed awkwardly a couple of times, "Well, seeing how you love me enough to stalk me, I thought if I didn't marry you, you'd definitely make a scene and threaten to kill yourself, right?"
She desperately gave him a look, hoping Faye would play along with her.
But Faye simply responded lightly, "I think, since they are your family, even if you told them you love me so much that you must marry me or you'd commit suicide, I believe they wouldn't blame you."
'What!? I must marry you, commit suicide for you, have you no shame!!' Tessa shot a sharp look over.
'Just now, didn't you shamelessly say the same thing?' Faye returned her glare with a mild look, effortlessly dismantling her killing intent.
Tessa's shoulders slumped immediately, because the arrogant one made too much sense.
She found herself without a retort.
"Tessa," Dad Caldwell's body shook, and he shouted.
Hearing that his daughter would commit suicide and stubbornly insist on marrying this man made him wish he could send her back into her mother's womb, as if she had never been born.
Tessa turned and walked two steps toward Dad Caldwell, her expression wilting, "Dad, Faye isn't the kind of person you say he is, and we're already married. Can't you just bless us? I love him, I only want to marry him, and I want your blessing, Dad."
The whole business about wealth has nothing to do with her and Faye. The prenuptial agreement clearly states that no matter if they marry or divorce, their assets will remain separate.
Yet, looking at the situation now, in Dad's eyes, Faye is just a pesky opportunist eager for money.
Who knows what Faye said to him earlier in the study to make Dad this furious.
