Karen Yates snapped back to her senses and looked at Faye, just as Faye's gaze was fixed on her, making her blush immediately.
Tessa Caldwell internally sneered four words: "Shallow person!"
Her grandmother and stepmother, seasoned and experienced, had long developed eyes of golden flame.
With just one glance, they perceived that this Faye was no ordinary man.
Not to mention his handsome appearance, just his aura, his gaze, the undeniable air of nobility he exudes, and the subtle authority and confidence, inherent to someone of high status, seemed to confirm this idea.
Could it be that Tessa Caldwell got unbelievably lucky and actually married into a wealthy, noble family?
Though she thought this way, the sly and cunning grandmother would not reveal her thoughts easily.
She didn't just want a guess; she wanted Faye's true identity.
Grandmother glanced lightly at the stepmother,
who immediately understood Grandmother's intention and, taking on the air of a mother-in-law, stepped forward, asking in an interrogative tone: "You're Tessa's husband. How could you get married without meeting the family? Didn't your parents teach you manners?"
Partly posturing as an elder, partly probing to uncover Faye's family background.
Faye glanced at her and then fixed his gaze on Grandmother: "My parents, they have already passed away!"
No parents means he's probably not a second-generation wealthy elite, suggesting he might have worked his way up. If that's truly the case, then Tessa truly found a treasure.
The stepmother felt a bit envious and bitter, even her tone turned sour: "So now, what kind of work do you do?"
Faye was about to speak when Tessa Caldwell cut in: "I know what you guys are trying to do. Don't pressure him. He doesn't have money, he's just an out-of-date model, but I don't care. I think as long as two people are together and have enough money to get by, that's enough."
As she said this, she gazed deeply at Faye.
And Faye was also watching Tessa, his eyes gentle.
Softer than water.
Tessa felt her legs inexplicably going soft.
Faye was too good at acting, his gaze almost melted her; she thought if he ever quit modeling, he could switch to acting.
He would surely become famous.
Seeing that he was merely an out-of-date model, the Caldwell family, who initially held grand fantasies about Faye, was utterly disappointed.
No wonder this man had such a great aura, turns out he's a model, which requires a certain flair, and that pretense naturally carries over into one's demeanor, but having aura doesn't necessarily make you someone of high status.
"Tessa Caldwell, you actually found a model, you simply infuriate me!"
The stepmother was extremely disdainful inside, even with a hint of schadenfreude, but her face wore a worried, anxious expression as she yelled at Tessa.
Dad Caldwell, Kenneth Caldwell, stood up from his chair, coldly staring at Faye: "You, come with me upstairs."
This was going to be a private conversation, Tessa didn't need to guess, she knew her father was going to show authority and was prepared to give Faye a hard time. She wanted to follow along, but Faye stopped her, calmly giving her a reassuring look before following Kenneth Caldwell upstairs.
In the second-floor study, Kenneth Caldwell coldly said: "Why are you approaching my daughter, don't think I don't know!"
He took an envelope from the drawer, then tossed it on the table: "Here's a million. Take the money and divorce my daughter immediately."
