Chapter 30 - Persistently Grind and say Duck it

Waking up in night city I get up and decide to go to my buildings melee weapons dealer, he's got a rare crowbar at the moment so I buy it after selling half of my materials. Got over a million Euros left. Then go to second amendment and buy out his unity's...all three of them two common and an uncommon. Disassembling them the difference is obvious, denser metal better springs, better balance. Obvious things to say but actually getting the design right and balancing it all out is a true challenge. My meals are a cup of coffee, distilled water, and an XXL burrito, boring but perfect for getting some skills, plus, hopefully safe? Even with my little distraction, manage to get 6 cars done thanks to the growing familiarity and better crowbar. Hack a vending machine with distract 500 times making note to do the same tomorrow then I head to bed.

Waking up in my real bed...I can see...I can see!?! Jumping shouting with joy, or rather falling shoulder first out of the bed...I celebrate with a shout if joy and a grunt.

After calming down showering cleaning up my face and staring at my reflection for a while, focusing on my eyes looking for changes. It's time to get back to it, I get on Xbox and hop on fallout 76, my main account has lots of upgrades and crafting recipes unlocked already and level 12. I make 1k long and short scopes for 10 different guns remove them repeat them scrap the scopes.

Scraping Long Scope: Gain 0.1% more steel and glass when scraping long scopes.

Scraping Short Scope:Gain 0.1% more steel and glass when scraping short scopes.

This...won't add up to anything, but hey hopefully at some point, gotta get going, I get back to my gigs and work then run back to grind a bit more before bed.

Waking up in night city I look around for my target cars...and find none...crap, getting a bit stir crazy and more confident since I got my eyes back I look for a gang spar...for lack of a better phrase, when it's down to just 6 I start hacking both sides and firing at their weapons with my unity. When there's just 1 left I keep disarming her until she pulls out a knife. I spend the next hour blocking with my crowbar and dodge rolling, then remove everyone's implants and scrap them. All in all not bad training, then a Thornton Colby C125 pulls up to a red light so I car jack it then park it in a secluded spot and rip it apart. Then I go on a shopping spree and talk to the NPC clothing sales man until he, wakes up for lack of a better word. Then we talk like he's sometimes real and wanting me to hurry up and buy stuff and sometimes like an NPC wanting me to hurry up and buy stuff, a lot of back and forth later I learn I can order stuff from him, but it might take a while to get through the lock down. Cars produce aton of materials and I can just sell as I spend, I buy out the clothing store, the second amendment, and the melee shop before scrapping it all, gotta get more tungsten and gold, sadly best way to get both right now is clothing, although I'll find gold chains here and there if I'm lucky, and there's a junk store somewhere. Obviously those are out of reach today. A weeks work of work and spending later and I finally have some real gains, partly because I got too bored of being trapped so I met deshaw and the client lady so I could meet Judy. In fallout 76 I leveled my steel and rubber scrapping skills, got a new electronic junk scrapping skill that gives me extra steel and electronics. IRL I leveled up jumping and several parkour skills. In fable anniversary I got weird skills from showing off all the trophies that lets me keep people attention longer. Using all this and the crafting system I designed a new tungsten cored steel bat with condensed tungsten plating and enhanced synth-rubber grip. It's legendary so I can't currently make it but after a ton of work I got Judy to 'break character' for lack of a better word long enough to accept the design and promise to make and distribute it, and gave me a list of all the clothes worn by the moxxes, she wouldn't give me a weapons list but she gave me a few clothing recipes which I quickly modded up to epic by adding inner armor lining of woven titanium, replacing buttons and any hard plates existing in the designs with tungsten, and swapping out any rubber with enhanced synth-rubber. The results were rare and epic. Made the rare pieces on the spot and gave Judy the crafting specs for the rest. This will make the mox a little scarier and a lot tougher, making the surrounding area safer. Also make myself new better rare tunsten tools and a knife, tried condensed tungsten but that was epic. Manage to take down the 30 cars I see that week, giving me plenty of money and materials. Get the crafting specs of 10 different common boots and make a thousand of each so I know I have a new boot crafting skills, then I make modified versions with tunsten, this was an easy 22 skills the borderline unlimited materials from cars is amazing. Cleaning up after gang skirmishes I get plenty of guns and implants and the implants are starting to make more sense I make a unity with a tunsten frame, reciever, and barrel, the rest is mostly condensed steel with an enhanced synth-leather grip, several tunsten magazines with better springs boosting the fire rare by a negligible amount and an old school internal silencer filled with gold. Had to make it as 5 pieces to get the crafting system to let me make it, the finish product reads as legendary but it clearly has lots of room for improvement and even with the internal silencer the hardened gun is still considerably louder than the original.

Another day of working with it and I modify it again extending the barrel and inch, and adding a third internal silencer hole to each side, this made it just abit harder to draw than I liked and unbalanced the gun more than I had anticipated, so I made the modification a three quarters of an inch extension, and added a tiny internal stabilizer. The new length was still harder to draw but more tolerable the sound difference was small but nice, the stabilizer...was garbage so I made another without it, the recoil was more than a fast pistol should have but until I got a better understanding of stabilizers and balancing his would have to do. Run around till I fine another gang fight, assist from the sidelines, then pick off those left. My new gun is more effective, and I can overcompensate to handle it, but it shows I'm still a clueless idiot just swapping out better materials with an insufficient understanding. The design software does a lot of the heavy lifting and I'm sure it corrected several issues with what I dreamed up but it still left some flaws that are irritating at best and might get me killed at worse. Before going to bed I have the interface start making me a thousand of my custom unity's made with basic materials and no gold.

Following day in night city I disassemble every one of the pistols by hand, hoping to get as much hands on experience as possible, my understanding of the old school internal silencer and it's drawbacks definitely increases. Afterwards I assembled one with the mountain of parts making microadjustments and even filing down a couple pieces where it feels pretty obvious it should've been. Then update my schematics and apply the changes to a new schematic file of my legendary one. Once complete I take it to second amendment and fire 100 clips of ammo, I know I won't get a system skill by just handling it I hope to gain more insight and I do, the increased fire rate makes it hotter, the internal silencer venting a token amount more of the heat dangerously close to my hand, and a hardened gun will naturally generate more heat still so it'll need better conductive and insulating materials to best redirect the heat. Using the design software I make the top of the guns slider aluminum plated, my better edition being gold plated of course I also make super thin ceramic plates which are forged into the receiver frame near my hand to insulate that area. After applying these updates to the design the basic model jumps to rare quality...an aluminum gun is considered rare quality. Head back to my apartment print a thousand of the new cheap one, build one from pieces, tweaking it slightly as I do. Update the schematics again set 1k to be made in the lowest quality and head to bed.
