Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: Slept Overnight at the Store

Scarlett Xavier didn't even lift her eyelids and said, "Got it."

After packing up, she went downstairs at her mother's urging, put her luggage in the car's trunk, and stood aside, staring at the osmanthus tree in the yard for a while.

She remembered when she first came here, she was so small, alone and helpless, feeling both anxious and full of expectations for this new home.

All these years, she'd been working diligently here, and now as she was about to leave, she felt inexplicably relieved.

Her mother came out of the house, saw her still standing there, and asked, "Why haven't you left yet? Hurry up and go."

The way she acted was as if she was afraid the Griffin Family would change their mind.

Yasmine Morgan also came out, stood beside her, looked at Scarlett Xavier with a somewhat smug expression.

After all, to her, the most bothersome person was finally leaving.

Scarlett Xavier said, "Well, I'm off."

She glanced at her mother, then opened the car door, got in, and left directly.

Old Du had already sent Julian Rhodes' residence to Scarlett Xavier's WeChat, but Scarlett Xavier didn't go directly there. Instead, she drove to the store.

The store was busy. Shaw, today's on-duty host, was standing in front of the camera live-streaming to everyone, "What I'm wearing now is number 66, the fabric is very comfortable, and it looks great when worn. If you like it, hurry up and order. Number 79, right? I'll try it on later."

Seeing Scarlett Xavier come in, she left the camera and said, "Ms. Xavier, why are you here now? Didn't you have something to do today?"

"Don't worry about me, you carry on."

Scarlett Xavier sat down in front of the computer beside her, looking at the store's sales — they were pretty decent.

The clothes in the store were all designed by her. She handled fabric selection, production, and communication with the factory. They had a physical store as well as a crown-rated Taobao store.

Normally, Vivian Bell was responsible for the live streaming and sales. Scarlett Xavier rarely handled these, but lately, Vivian had been feeling down because of the Winston Shaw situation, so Scarlett Xavier was substituting for her.

After Shaw finished two hours of live streaming, she packed up, ready to leave, and said to Scarlett Xavier, "Ms. Xavier, I'm heading home. Aren't you going back?"

It was already after work hours.

Scarlett Xavier replied, "You go ahead. I need to handle some things; there's a lot piled up since I haven't been back for the past couple of days."

"Alright, I'm off then. Try not to work too late, don't push yourself too hard."

Though Scarlett Xavier was younger, she was so capable that everyone admired her.

She was young and had started her own business, making the store thriving and successful.

Scarlett Xavier smiled, watching Shaw leave before refocusing on the computer.

She actually didn't want to stay late; she just didn't have anywhere to go. She couldn't very well move in with her not-yet-familiar husband, could she?

The store had a resting area with a bed. At night, after closing, she lay down on it, and the feeling of exhaustion and loneliness surged over her.

However, as it was in the store where many things were kept, it was quite inconvenient.

Scarlett Xavier worked till past two in the night, lying in bed, staring at the white light on the ceiling, feeling a sense of bewilderment.

Now, she really was... alone!

"Achoo—"

In the morning, as Scarlett Xavier sneezed, Vivian Bell came in, surprised to see she had spent the night there, "You didn't go back home last night?"

Scarlett Xavier sat on the bed, wearing a white T-shirt as pajamas, her long legs exposed, "I worked late last night, didn't go back."
