Half an hour passed with Ren running on water at an abnormal speed; something he figured out accidently. If he ran fast enough, then he could run on water.
Despite this, Ren was yet to see something worth noting except for an endless ocean. It seemed that the dragon lived a long distance from Pangaea.
He wasn't surprised though, it wouldn't make sense if there was a creature of that size and danger level living near Pangaea. That beast was definitely a calamity level monster.
Yet it had gotten scared the moment Ren took off his earring.
'The power without the limiter is incredible.' Ren thought. 'But there's also that annoying cost.'
Ren unconsciously rubbed his hand against the earring as he was ran. He could feel the earring steadily eating away at his Aether faster than it could be regenerated, like a hungry beast.
Now Ren couldn't lie and say that he hadn't been tempted a few times to take off the earring and chuck it into the ocean. But he ignored the urges. It was an important item that was supposed to help him to stay relatively obscure while he roamed this new world. On top of that, he felt that he would be missing out on a few experiences if he couldn't feel simple emotions like happiness or excitement.
And although Ren would never admit it, he was very scared of the possibility that his feelings towards his adoptive family and Eirlys would disappear. If they did disappear, then he would lose the push factor that resulted in him coming back to Earth in the first place.
The constant traveling was beginning to bother him. He had yet to meet another human, and yet to speak to another sentient being. The dragon didn't count. He remembered saying to the dragon;
'Trying to blast me into oblivion for waking you up is a bit overkill, don't you think?'
And the dragon turned tail and ran, leaving behind his tooth.
Speaking of the dragon tooth, Ren was still carrying under his arm. It was surprisingly light considering the fact that it was almost his length; or maybe that was because of Ren's newfound strength, he didn't know... or care either.
The tooth was fascinating though, at first glance Ren could tell it was very valuable.
It shone a healthy pearlescent white, and his

.
Ren noticed when the subtle warmth on his back disappeared, replaced a cool breeze and the smell of cleanly cut grass. He'd been plenty focused on just running, and was oblivious to his surroundings.
Somehow, he'd long since left the ocean and was now in lush green forest, running down a dirt path. How he got there was yet another mystery to Ren, but the scene before him reminded him of the games he played with Eirlys in the forest near their home and he smiled, unbeknownst to himself.
Ren slowed down to a lazy walk. Taking in the woodland smell, and peaceful air. The lack of noise told him of the peaceful lifestyle the animals here lived. Silence was the loudest thing here, no constant pounding like a heartbeat, no roaring, no dealing with deadly irritated dragons, none of the sort. Just peaceful, calming silence.
But that silence didn't last long. Soon enough, Ren could hear the someone's scream nearby. They sounded pained, and he could pick up some the voices of angry people, speaking in gruff voices with angry undertones.
He debated going to see what was happening. The lazy side of him new that getting involved would lead to some trouble that he would preferred to avoid. The side of him that still had some morals, felt that he should help those in need, and it sounded like someone needed help. The logical side of him that possessed common sense also told him to go and see what was happening. He may be able to collect information on his current location, and possibly a change of clothes. His clothes were in shambles now.
Two vs one huh? It seemed like like his morals and logic had won the dispute. Ren took one longing look at the peaceful scenario he was in. One that he was abandoning for a potentially troublesome one, and sighed.
He looked towards the sound of the screams. They had quieted down enough that Ren couldn't hear them without enhancing his five senses with his perception ability. He could hear the someone whimpering and from the tone it was probably a girl. There were also loud voices; probably bandits or thieves, making their earnings from stealing food and supplies from wealthy merchants and selling people off as slaves.
Ren had learned of these kinds of people. They were pathetic. The fact that they could claim entire lives for no sensible reason confused the emotionless boy.
Ren shook away any stiffness in his legs, readjusted the position of the dragon's tooth that he momentarily forgot he was holding, and headed towards the conflict.
Barely 10 seconds later, Ren emerged from the dirt path into a large clearing. He quickly jumped into some nearby bushes observed the situation with a blank expression. With no overgrowth above the clearing, the sun's rays took advantage of this opportunity to shine their light fiercely on the scene ahead.
In the center of the clearing was a carriage being looted by several intimidating-looking men. Many of them had knife scars on their arms, legs and even on their faces.
About 6 of them were acting as lookouts while the rest rummaged through the goods in the back, handing them to their accomplices and occasionally chucking away anything they deemed useless.
The carriage was big, easily twice the height of the bandits surrounding it and exceptionally wide. Ren assumed that to pull a carriage of that size quite a few horses would be needed, but there were no horses in sight.
No, Never mind.
A few more bandits entered to the clearing, the same look, dark tanned skin from probably being in the sun for too long, and scars that signified several bouts. Each of them lead a large brown horse by the leash. The horses looked tired and some had scrapes were blood oozed out of them.
It was becoming quite the party at this point, as the number of people in the clearing had increased, but Ren still hadn't found the leader.
He scanned over the crowd until he saw a man physically bigger than the rest, at an astonishing height of at least 6ft 7. He was the only bandit not doing any grunt work and he just gave a bunch of orders in a deep voice. He was wearing a sleeveless jacket and no shirt underneath, his muscles rippling in full view for anyone to see.
The leader was completely bald. The rays of the Sun bounced of his head like it was a perfectly concave mirror. Another thing; The bandits were all human. This could only mean that he was in Nilevar, the largest continent and the home of the humans race.
Ren's drew his attention back to the leader who just finished giving new orders to his men to pick up the pace and reattach the horses to the carriage, most likely so they could take the valuable goods with them and leave the others here.
The leader's huge, stout form shifted to the side, and Ren was able to see the original owners of the carriage.
A group of kids that looked to be around Ren's age were tied to the massive trunk of a tree. A boy about 17 years old, a girl of around 15, another 14 year old boy, and a little 7 year old girl.
They were all dressed poorly. Their clothes had patches in several places and covered in dirt, probably due to their current situation. The older girl's dress was ripped at the right sleeve and part of her body could be clearly seen.
The little girl was crying heavily, her eyes closed as she let out wail after wail. The ponytail she had was streaked with dirt and stuck out in many directions. The youngest boy was also crying, but it was a silent cry. Most likely they had been told to be quiet or they would be harmed and the boy was old enough to understand what that meant.
The older girl was screaming profanities at the leader in a shrill voice. So many foul words were leaking out of her mouth that Ren felt he should make a move before his ears melted off his head. He had to give credit to the leader who was taking a the insults in his stride, ignoring her angry screams and continuing to give out orders.
The older boy was passed out leaning against the girl. There was dirt stuck to his face and hair, and a head injury caused blood to spill down the side of his face.
' He's going to die soon.'
At this point, Ren decided that he would make his move now. He was originally planning to just wait it out until the bandits had left, but with someone's life at stake, Ren decided not to wait any longer.
It was perfect timing now, as the girl's insults were beginning to break through the bandit leader's cold mental wall of indifference. Just before she could inflict any more psychological damage and get herself or any of her friends killed, Ren stood up from the bushes and strode confidently into the centre of the clearing, the dragon's tooth still in his hand.
In an instant, all attention was drawn to him, and the bandits paused their actions.
"Man, I woke up for the first time in centuries, and this is the sight I'm greeted to?" Ren tilted his head towards the children tied to the tree and the bandits who were obviously stealing from them.
The leader studied Ren, taking in his short stature, skinny body, ruined clothes and unnatural grey hair. Deeming him unworthy of wariness, the leader called forth one of his men with a deep booming voice.
"Hinoya," he said. "Take care of this young man. He seems to be lost."
Hinoya jumped down from the tree that the children were tied to. A bandit with stiff, dirty long hair that he clearly hadn't taken care of in a long time, and a face akin to someone who deserved to be locked away. His leather clothes were all black, and he had several bloody bandages wrapped around his arms and legs.
Hinoya was disturbing to say the least, and his personality matched his appearance to a tee.
"Sssuree thing bossss." Hinoya slithered in reply, before strolling casually towards Ren.
The bandit leader leader referred to as boss ignored Hinoya's answer. In all truthfulness, he completely disliked Hinoya. A personality like that; someone who was cocky and way out of his head would surely ruin the raids that had become a lifestyle and business to the bandits. Well, at least he got the job done, and was talented enough to kill people well.
The leader turned his attention away from Ren and Hinoya and returned his attention to giving orders to the other bandits, who still stood watching the fight with distasteful expressions on their face. Hinoya really wasn't liked at all.
The boss could hear the usual trash talk Hinoya would say before killing his opponent. Soon after Hinoya finished, there was a small whisper followed by loud slash.
'He probably pushed one of Hinoya's buttons. Such an unlucky way to go, really.'
The boss continued to give oversee the current raiding, but was quickly cut short by a shuffling from the vulgar girl. She'd been a little too quiet as of late, to which the boss wasn't sure was a good or bad thing.
He looked at the girl whose eyes were widened at the sight of the fight between Hinoya and Ren.
'Hinoya fights bloody, doesn't he?' The boss thought the girl was surprised to see Hinoya's crude methods, and he agreed with her.
'There is no style or finesse to his killing. Just a bloody mess every time.'
"Hey," A monotonous voice called out from behind the boss. It was from the boy Hinoya was supposed to kill, what had happened?
The boss turned around to see Ren eyeing at him with a blank expression on his face, and dark blood splattered all over his tattered clothes and face.
"Your friend was horrifyingly pathetic. At least he explained the situation well enough."
Ren pointed the dragon's tooth at the boss, which looked intimidating at its astonishing 5ft length. There was also a mysterious blood on it, highlighted in the bright light of the sun.
"So you're the people who killed the carriage's owner and harmed the boys and girls over there. He even talked about how he was planning to take the girl and rape her before killing her and disposing her body."
"What did you to Hinoya?" The leader asked out unconsciously.
"So that was his name, Hinoya. Don't worry, he's right here, safe and sound."
The boy tossed a large object hidden in plenty locks of hair at the leader who caught it instinctively. When the leader withdrew his hand, it was slick with blood and dirt. He realized in horror that it was Hinoya's head.
It was still uncomfortably warm, and there was an expression of surprise mixed with fear engraved on Hinoya's dead face.
"It's pretty funny, isn't it?" The boy scoffed. "Who dies looking like that, which such an expression on their face. At least die with dignity. Oh wait, he had none."
It was all said in such a monotonous tone, coming from such a dead voice, which belonged to someone possessing a face devoid of any emotion, and yet there was an intense aura exuding from the boy.
In that moment, in the minds of all people present there, the boy seemed to grow physically until he was like a towering existence blocking out the sun. Several of the bandits collapsed from sensory overload, along with the captured children.
The horses, who should have taken this chance to run away were shaking in fear. To all creatures in that clearing, they felt that if they turned away from the monster in front of them for even a second, they would die.
It must have been an awkward sight for anyone not inside the range of the Fear Instillment aura to see bulky, mean-looking bandits passing out one after the other, often with dark stains developing on their trousers.
Even the leader was terrified. In his mind's eye the boy had grown to a monster several times his size, with no facial features save black slits for eyes and an evil, sadistic smile.
Sweat ran down the face of the leader, and voice in his head screamed at him to get away from whatever creature was in front of him before he was utterly devoured.
"YOUR NAME." A voice thundered from the creature and yet the its lips remained closed. It wasn't a question. The creature was demanding it from him.
The leader's calm demeanor and confidence completely disappeared.
"M-my... My na-name is Rimac..."
The leader attempted to muster up some courage, but failed miserably and replied in a whimper.
"RIMAC..." The leader's name sounded foreign and dangerous coming from the monster.
"... LET'S PLAY A GAME."
Rimac's vision darkened and he blacked out. When he opened his eyes, he was back to the scene before him. Hinoya's head was still in his arms and the boy was pointing the long weapon at him.
If not for the smile on the boy's face, and the bodies of his comrades that lay passed out or dead on the ground, Rimac could almost believe that the scene from before had never happened.
"I said we should play a game, didn't I?" The boy spoke out again. The tone of the voice confirmed Rimac's fears. It wasn't a dream. The boy in front of them was still the same dangerous figure from before, and he fully intended to kill them mercilessly.
"I know a game we could play. We'll call it Tag. If you can make it out of the forest before you die, then I'll let you go. But if I catch you before you make it out... well, you die."
"Oh...-and to make it fair," The boy waved his arms and the men that had passed out regained consciousness. They stood up in confusion but when they saw there boy who was still in front of them, they regained the terrified look on their faces.
"You can be scared all you want now, I made it so you couldn't pass out even if you wanted to."
The boy withdrew the bulky weapon and stabbed it into the ground before leaving against it.
"Like I was saying before, anyone who manages to make it out of the forest being caught by me will live, but anyone I catch will die."
Ren masked the dead tone in his voice with fake liveliness and enthusiasm. "Now are you ready?!... 3...2...1... Gooo!"
The bandits took up sometime to understand Ren's words, resulting in Ren killing a few of them in the blink of an eye. One bandit was swallowed up by the ground while another screamed as he was burnt alive. Two more were pierced in the chest by arrows made of blinding light.
In less than two seconds, 4 people had died. This forced the message into the heads of the 46 remaining bandits. They were going to die.
All hell broke loose, as bodies trampled over one another in an attempt to flee from the boy and into the forest. A remnant of Ren's words remained in their heads. "If you can make it out of the forest, I'll let you live."
Soon the clearing was empty save for Ren, the horses and carriage, and the children tied to the tree. Ren took this chance to rummage through the goods left behind by the bandits to find some suitable clothes.
A few minutes later, Ren emerged from the back of the carriage wearing a long trench overcoat, with fur sleeves and a fur-lined hood, along with black gloves, a black pair of pants, and black boots.
He liked his new outfit a lot. It was comfy, and offered a nice contrast to his grey hair. The only downside was that they looked a little too similar to Hinoya's outfit, but that small detail could be overlooked.
Now that Ren felt like a decently clothed human being, he walked over to the children tied to the tree trunk. A thick brown rope wrapped tightly around them several times and Ren hoped that their organs weren't severally damaged; especially the little girl.
Ren walked around the back of the tree until he found a knot in the rope. Holding the dragon's tooth like an axe, he chopped down on the knot, cutting it, and half the tree, right down the middle.
"Damn it." Ren muttered.
The rope slacked and fell off the children. Ren quickly cast a healing spell on them and their injuries closed. Soon enough, their eyes opened. They looked around in surprise, before realising that Ren was quietly watching them.
