Chapter 4 - The Forgotten

Zavaiel began to study Reynos, something was definitely off. Reynos of course was aware of how he felt, they were connected after all. "If you have a question just ask" Reynos said looking at Zavaiel. Zavaiel stopped and began. "Who are you really? You're not a normal helper are you?" he asks. Reynos sighed and looked at him. "No, no I'm not. I am one of the last celestial demons".

Zavaiel was speechless, was Reynos really one of the legendary celestial demons? Celestial demons were thought to have died out thousands of years ago along side the azure demons. They were the most advanced civilizations ever to have existed, they were able to use magic to build entire cities. They used magic that had long since been lost. There was next to no information on the demon civilizations of before. The only demons known today were evil and wanted nothing more than to cause chaos.

Zavaiel stared in disbelief, his helper was a celestial demon. "How?" he said calmly. "Ah I see the emotional inhibitors are working" Reynos says. "During the end of the first era all life in the world was destroyed, that was eighty thousand years ago. To prevent extinction I tried to preserve as many as I could so that we may one day return. I had attempted to achieve this by using the nexus to convert our physical forms to energy and back again" he explained

"What happened?" Zavaiel asked. Reynos had a hint of sadness in his voice. "It worked to a degree, I was preserved within the nexus however, those who tried to follow me were not so lucky". Reynos looked down at the ground, like he was ashamed of what happened. Zavaiel placed his hand on his shoulder "whatever happened was not your fault". Reynos then looked at him, "you didn't know what would happen" Zavaiel finished. "No it is my fault, I was supposed to protect them, to ensure their future. Countless lives depended on me" he said, his tone darker than before.

This surprised Zavaiel, though he hadn't known Reynos long, he knew that this was painful for him. He could tell he wasn't just a helper, but a being forced into one after an experiment gone wrong. "You don't have to say anymore" Zavaiel said. "No I do" Reynos said with a serious tone. "You need to understand for what comes next. I am the prince of the once great altos empire. I survived while my people did not. I was supposed to save them, in the end I led them to their doom" he said almost crying.

There was silence awhile after, the wind lightly blew through the trees, Zavaiel had begun to understand his new companion. Before he could do anything Reynos wiped his eyes and began heading towards the library. "Let's talk about this another time" he said not looking back. Zavaiel nodded and followed him. After thirty minutes of walking in silence Reynos began to speak. "I want to apolo" he began to say before Zavaiel tackled him to the ground.

As he fell Reynos noticed three large black spikes fly across where he was standing. Looking in the direction of where they came from reynos could see three large dog looking figures. Using his observation skill he was able to identify them, drake wolves.

Drake Wolf, Level 1, HP 150

"Here I thought this would be an uneventful walk" Reynos says. Right before they hit the ground they burst into a pale blue light and appear ten meters above the group of drake wolves. Zavaiel draws his sword and plunges it straight into the middle drake wolfs head, damage of -150 appears over its head, instantly killing it. The other two are sent flying by the shockwave of the impact. Reynos, who is floating in the air, sends a barrage of small energy blasts at one of the drake wolves. The drake wolf is helpless as its health rapidly depletes from the endless barrage pelting it.

After the other wolf dies Reynos floats down. "When were you going to tell me you could do that?" Zavaiel exclaimed removing his sword from the dead drake wolf. "You never asked" Reynos said jokingly. Zavaiel shakes his head, "where is the other one?". "It probably ran off" Reynos said. As they are walking back to the path the missing drake wolf pounces at Zavaiel. Without thinking Zavaiel turns towards it, his right arm now transparent, and punches the drake wolf. Unknowingly Zavaiel had fazed through the wolf body and removed the wolfs very essence, killing it instantly.

Stunned by what just happened Zavaiel turns to Reynos. "What just happened?". Reynos looks as stunned as him. "I didn't think you'd awaken that ability so fast" he responds, "stay still". Reynos places his hand on zavaiels' chest and closes his eyes. A bright pattern appears below his hand. After a few moments the pattern disappears and Reynos opens his eyes. "You have progressed much faster than I had anticipated". "What does that mean?" zavaiel asked slightly concerned.

"I don't know but hopefully the ancient library will have the answer". Zavaiel was still concerned, he knew he would have unimaginable power, but if he can't control it he would be a danger. He knew Reynos had more information, but he had trusted him up to this point, so he must have a good reason for not saying anything. Regardless he definitely had to find a way to control his newfound abilities. It would be bad if he got into a fight with someone and accidentally killed them. However, he still had questions about reynos being a celestial demon.
