The ancient library was built into the side of a small mountain, here it withstood the test of time for centuries. Thought to have been built by ancient dwarves, the architecture however was of elven design. Stories were carved into its vast walls and fantastic colors shined throughout the structure. The library was owned and excavated by the ruteron empire, which controlled the south eastern region of the continent. The library was located near the center of the continent which was just inside of their area of control.
Many others wanted the library for themselves as the knowledge gained from it is what propelled the empire into their position of power. This has caused tension with the other nations as ruteron uses this power to overpower the other nations. If one was to cut ruteron off from the library their power would greatly be reduced. This feat is next to impossible due to the library being incorporated into a great citadel.
"I don't remember this being here" Reynos said as he looked upon the library. "You were around when the library was built?" zavaiel asked surprised. "I've been around for thousands of years and you're surprised that I was alive when the library was built?" Reynos said teasingly. Zavaiel had a dumb look on his face, there was so much he didn't about Reynos, and he was basically an immortal. "So how do we get in?" asked Reynos. "We just walk in, the library is open to all citizens of the empire" zavaiel said.
As zavaiel approaches a guard stops him. "Halt! What is your business here boy?" the guard says I an intimidating tone. Zavaiel just looked at him, the guard was not intimidating to him in the slightest. He had trained with warriors from across the land, been mentored by generals and strategists, and was a high ranking noble at that. Even still zavaiel did not use his status nearly at all, he liked his achievements to be his own. "My name is zavaiel from the town of pentast. I am here to visit the library" he said in an innocent tone.
The guard backed down a little. "What does a runt from pentast want to visit the library for?" the guard mocked. Though he grew tired of this zavaiel did not want to draw attention. "I study the arcane. I wish to further my knowledge before school begins" he said. The guard had settled down, his request made sense, many would come to visit the library before school. "Very well boy, mind yourself in there" he said moving out of the way.
"Well that was easy" Reynos said sarcastically. "I said I could walk right in, not that we wouldn't be challenged to get in" zavaiel said under his breath. The guard watched him for a little way until he disappeared in the streets. Bellessa citadel was the crown jewel of the ruteron empires military. It was the largest in the empire and protected the most important asset to the empire. It had three lines of ten-foot-thick walls, each with countless catapults, ballistae, and cannons.
There are three legions stationed here at any given time, backed by the citadels guard force, and supported by near limitless resources. Zavaiel had been here times before, his father often did business here, his company supplying arms and armor. Though technically the company was based in zenith, ruteron welcomed their trade. The streets of the citadel were always bustling for the citadel had many purposes, one of which was to act as a trade hub. Zavaiel stealthily moved to the library, it would be best if no one recognized him.
Zavaiel reached the library, not without being watched, but he made it without anyone the recognizing him. "You'll have to stay in my head, I don't to attract attention" zavaiel says. "Agreed" Reynos said. Walking through the halls of the library zavaiel noticed they were different than before. "What is this?" zavaiel wondered. "You can see the library the way I do. Don't get distracted, our objective is ahead" Reynos ordered. Zavaiel continued until he came to a golem encased in stone.
"What now?" he asked. "Touch the stone". Zavaiel placed his hand on the stone, instantly a blue light emanated from the golem. "What did you do!" a man came running up behind him. He looked to be a scholar of sorts, but not one of much importance judging by his appearance. Before he could respond the golem bursts out of its tomb, sending zavaiel and the scholar flying into another room. Screams instantly filled the library as a stampede of people rushed out of the library. The guards were terrified to see the golem rampaging and fled their posts.
Zavaiel watched as the scene unfolded. "Have they never seen a golem before?" Reynos asked. "Not one that worked" zavaiel responded. After the halls were empty of people the golem set its sights upon zavaiel. 'Should I?" zavaiel asked. "Not yet" Reynos responded. The golem began to charge at zavaiel, just as it was about to collide with him he stopped it dead in its tracks. A blue aura surrounded him, the force of the golems momentum suddenly being halted caused a massive scar to appear in the floor.
"Who are you!" the golem demanded. Zavaiel simply pushed it backwards into a wall. Reynos then appeared and walked towards the golem. "You should've known better artus" he said. "Reynos?" artus replied. "How did you survive?". Reynos smirked and helped artus to its feet. "Long story. I need your help" Reynos said. Artus glared at zavaiel, "whose the kid?" he said cautiously. "He is the nexus" Reynos replied. "I should've known. You're here for the domain aren't you?". Reynos just smiled.
"The domain?" zavaiel asked walking up behind Reynos. "The domain was created long ago, it holds the cumulative knowledge of the varying civilizations of throughout history. It's central node is located here, which I am sworn to protect" artus explains. "So why do we need the domain?" asked zavaiel. "As the nexus you have unimaginable power however, you must give it form and focus. To that end the domain will provide both, the knowledge and imagination to give it form, then a way to focus it" Reynos explained.
