Lumos stared up at this huge ship in complete shock.
The ship was made of the darkest wood, while the sails shinned with red and gold shimmers. As the sun's light would catch on the bright colors of the sail, it gave the illusion of the sails actually being set aflame. The figurehead is carved into the sacred golden dragon. The Golden Dragon has always symbolized prosperity, health, and wisdom and it protects the crew from any misfortunes. Lumos was hypnotized by the overall powerful aura of the ship.
The name Black Dragon was certainly fitting.
"Home?" Lumos whispered in an unsure tone.
"Yep!" she grinned a radiant smile and slapped him on the back before trudging up the steep ramp to board the towering ship.
Lumos cringed at the strength of this little girl, now granted he was only a few years older than her but how could she be so strong?! Pouting and feeling wronged, he dragged himself behind her with a stinging back to remind him he could never escape alive.
"Ey Captain! Looks like you brought some fresh meat back for me!" A light voice teased.
"Calm down Lena, you already have Sam" The red headed Captain laughed at her subordinate's weakness to good looking men. However, Lena just pouted at her Captains' reminder.
Lena was exceptionally beautiful as well, her wavy brown hair, and dazzling green eyes were enchanting.
Lumos was at first in a trance as he looked at the beautiful brunette unsure how to react.
After snapping out of it, he finally realized what this woman named Lena actually said! 'Was she really looking at him as if he really was just a piece of meat?! Are all these women crazy?'
He stared at her while she made a sly look at him with her hands on her hips. He suddenly felt a little more scared, but for a different reason this time…
Looking around, the Captain surveyed her ship as she shooed Lena away from the newbie to go do her work.
Suddenly a dark tanned man appeared from the Captains quarters. He was fairly handsome and his features were exquisite.
Lumos observed this man, he was unexpectedly handsome, 'Does everyone on this ship have such beautiful features? Is he a prince from some random country?'
The man walked up to the small devil, his large body towering over her before proceeding to bow.
"Captain, welcome back. As you can see we have almost finished restocking our supplies per your orders." The man reported as he proceeded to size up the new guy standing next to his Captain.
"Very good, thank you Amos. And as I can see you are already judging the newbie" she narrowed her eyes at her right hand man. She knows his tendency of becoming jealous, but she has made it very clear about their relationship of being Captain and Crew. She never returned his feelings.
"You are correct as always Captain, I was unaware of your other intentions for coming to this port." He spoke bitterly.
Despite her making her feelings about him clear, he can't help but continue to have a special place for her in his heart. She has even given him plenty of chances to leave the crew, but he could never bring himself to do so.
"Don't be ridiculous Amos, I was simply bored when I happened upon the Arena. As usual no one was skilled enough to stand up for a real fight against me. It just so happened that after I killed almost everyone who challenged me, this kid showed up."
She pointed at Lumos, "He didn't die immediately, so I thought I would give him a chance." She shrugged nonchalantly at Amos while waving her hand dismissively, and his eyes snapped back to her.
"He can't be trusted" Amos was worried for his captain, while Lumos looked like he was about to vomit blood he was so angry.
'Who the hell does this guy think he is?! He doesn't even know me! Sure I was just planning on using your own jealousy against you but you didn't know that!' Lumos yelled internally.
Just as Lumos was about to say something to defend himself, the devil laughed.
"Do you think your Captain is stupid Amos?" Her tone was very light and care free, but somehow it made both men shiver.
"Of course not, I simply –" Amos tried to explain himself but she immediately cut him off, already knowing what he was going to say.
"Amos, you do know who I am, correct?" her voice grew colder with each word.
"Yes, Captain." His head dropped, he dared not to continue meeting her gaze. From an outsider's view, it would have been a funny scene to witness how a man who measured almost six foot was bowing down to someone who wasn't even five-foot.
"Who am I?" she asked, while her icy gaze burned into him.
As if a switch had been flipped, he raised his head. With pride he announced loudly so everyone on the ship could hear, "You are The Scarlet Rogue, the youngest Captain in the history of the Black Dragon! You have saved each and every one of our lives countless times. You. Are. Our. Captain." As Amos finished there was an unexplained fire burning in his amber eyes.
The crew circled them excitedly and shouted in unison "We Rise With You!"
Scarlet Rogue smiled proudly at her crew and placed her arms behind her back, while Lumos looked around at everyone with a confused and scared look plastered across his face. He didn't think that people could be so loyal, it was freaky.
"Alright, that's enough, get back to work" she announced to her crew with a small smile tugging at her lips, then she directed her attention back to Amos.
"Now, that is settled, you will take Lumos and train him. Under your guidance he will grow, and his skill will be unparalleled. You must prepare him to take on responsibility with the shadows."
