William paced back and forth in front of the closed curtains of the emergency room.
Every now and then, he dragged his hair back, as if everything was getting in his way.
The guilt sat heavily in his chest.
He knew it. He shouldn't have continued when she asked him to stop.
The moment the doctor slid the curtain open, he rushed over. His eyes immediately landed on Thalia, lying on the bed, still unconscious, her face pale.
"What happened? Is she okay?" he asked.
The doctor hung the stethoscope around his neck, then jotted something down on the file in his hand. His expression looked uncertain.
"This is quite rare, I mean…" The doctor looked up and met William's eyes. "I couldn't find anything physically wrong with her."
"What do you mean?" William frowned. "She fainted." His voice rose slightly. "I mean, if nothing's wrong, why did she suddenly faint?"
