As she lay on the bed focused on the ceiling, suddenly her phone vibrated from her pocket. Rose pulled it out and saw a new notification from Nextalk, a chatting app, and the name that sent her a message was
'Tina'
'Please I'm worried about you, pick up your call please'
Rose remembered this scene.
She immediately rose and sat on the bed, then saw the different missed calls from Tina.
Tears started brimming in her eyes. She was upset that she completely forgot her one and only childhood best friend Tina as soon as she had a second chance to live again and set everything right. In her first life, Tina didn't like Ethan at all.
As soon as Rose told her she was getting married to Ethan, she disapproved and it almost ruined their friendship. Rose had refused to pick up her calls or reply to her messages. If she remembered right, the last words she told her were
"I thought you were my friend but why are you trying to ruin my life because of your own feelings?"
Still, Tina kept calling and texting her. When she married Ethan, he told her to cut off Tina and any other friends she knew, and she did that completely, all because of love. Before she got paralyzed, Tina became one of the top actresses in the country, but one day she got unalived by her boyfriend. She didn't even attend her funeral because she still bore hatred for Tina then.
Tears dropped like water from her eyes. She sobbed to the extent that her heart started hurting, and she hit her chest with guilt in her mind.
She was a fool then. She ruined Tina's life and she'll never forgive herself for it. She was not even worthy of facing Tina now… she wasn't worthy at all.
After a lot of tears, Rose finally took the initiative to call her. She gently placed the phone to her ear. Fortunately, Tina picked up at the first ring.
"Rose" Tina's voice called her name calmly.
Rose's heartbeat increased.
"T... Tina" her voice cracked.
"Omg Rose, I'm really sorry, I didn't realise I was being selfish, please just forgive me… I don't want to lose you forever"
Tina rushed her words like she was panicking, but one could feel the sincerity in her voice.
"Tinaaaa..." Rose broke down again. Those words stabbed her heart, especially 'I don't want to lose you forever'
"Please don't cry, I don't hate you or Ethan, I accept him wholeheartedly, please don't cry. I promise not to hurt you again"
Rose cleaned her tears and almost laughed hearing those words.
"Tina, I ran away from the wedding" Rose said.
There was complete silence from Tina's side.
"What?! Wait... is it because of what I said?" Tina yelled.
"No, it was my decision. I ran away from the wedding for some reason, and my dad has kind of disowned me"
"Omg girl, you are crazy! I didn't know you had this wayward side in you. This is absolutely insane. Damn! what the hell happened? Wait, if your dad disowned you, don't tell me he kicked you out?"
"It's a long story, Tina. Yes, he kicked me out, but just know that I'm safe where I am. This discussion is not for the phone… maybe we can meet tomorrow at a cafe"
"Yes sure! I can't wait to meet my baby" Tina said in a very energetic voice.
Tina and Rose spent some more minutes discussing and reminiscing about old moments together, and after deciding where they were going to meet the next day, the call finally ended.
Rose looked so happy. The fact that she was going to meet her best friend again after a long time made her heart feel light.
She rolled on the bed back and forth, giggling.
Then a knock sounded on her door, making her pause.
