"Huh! I… I don't understand what you mean" Rose said, acting naive, though she frowned in her mind.
Why would he ask that so directly? she thought.
Vincent smirked again and looked at her.
"Huh… you called me here?" Rose said quickly, trying to change the topic.
Vincent passed a pen along with the documents he had been reading to her side.
"Sign that contract" he said coldly.
Rose frowned in confusion, then picked up the document to read it.
The front page clearly read:
Contract Marriage Rules
Rose looked up, surprised. She had long forgotten that this was a contract marriage or that there would be papers to sign. Of course, it was a fake marriage, so rules about what to do and what not to do made sense.
She opened the document and began reading.
Contract Marriage Agreement
Parties Involved:
Party A: Male
Party B: Female
1. This marriage agreement shall remain valid for a period of three (3) months. Party B is not permitted to file for divorce during this period. After the expiration of three months, Party B may choose to terminate the marriage.
2. Party B agrees to accompany Party A to all required family gatherings, social events, and public appearances, and to act as Party A's lawful wife.
3. Party B must not disclose the existence or nature of this contract marriage to any third party under any circumstances.
4. Party B is required to reside with Party A for the full duration of the contract and may not live elsewhere without Party A's consent.
5. Party B shall not engage in romantic relationships, dating, or be publicly seen in compromising situations with any other individual of the opposite gender during the contract period.
6. Party B agrees to perform wifely duties expected of a spouse to prevent public suspicion or gossip.
7. In the event that Party B violates any of the terms stated above, Party B shall be liable to pay Party A a penalty fee of $5,000,000 (Five Million U.S. Dollars).
Rose's heart jumped when she saw the penalty fee.
Where does this man expect me to get that kind of money?
She slammed the contract on the table and stared at Vincent angrily, while he looked back at her with cold, unreadable eyes.
"This is outrageous! This contract is shit!" Rose exclaimed.
"Please explain, Miss Rose, how this contract is shit to you" Vincent said, his voice gentle but deep.
"First of all, this contract only has rules for me. There is not a single rule for you. And what do you mean I can file for divorce after three months, but you can't? Why can't you also do it?" Rose pointed angrily at the contract.
"Because I'm not going to get a divorce" Vincent said calmly.
Rose froze. She didn't expect that answer. She was confused 'what did he mean he wasn't going to get a divorce?'
She was certain that once the three months were over and she got her revenge, she would file for divorce immediately and dump him like trash into a bin.
