Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Not Girly

Earlier, Vincent had watched Rose enter the villa. He told Leon not to drive yet, because he had a feeling something was going to happen.

And it did, the moment he heard the loud noises coming from inside, he didn't hesitate. The only thought in his mind was that she needed his help.

Leon could only watch in surprise and confusion as his boss suddenly dashed off, like a completely different person.

******

Now, Rose and Vincent were already in the car, and the ride was completely silent. Neither of them spoke, but Vincent's gaze kept drifting toward her red cheek and her sad expression… and for some reason, it made his heart ache slightly.

About twenty minutes later, the car stopped in front of a large villa gate.

Rose's eyes widened in shock as she saw several security guards dressed in suits, each wearing dark shades, standing upright like statues. She had already guessed this was Vincent's home, but still

Who needed this many guards?

Even her father's villa didn't have this level of security.

Unless… This was protection from something dangerous.

She glanced at Vincent briefly, a thought crossing her mind.

She didn't really know anything about this man.

For the first time, she felt a hint of fear for herself… and for him.

The gates opened, and the car drove inside.

Rose was completely in awe. This villa was at least ten times bigger and more luxurious than her father's house… or even the one she lived in with Ethan in the past.

They stepped out of the car, with Leon carrying Rose's travelling bag behind them.

Soon, they entered the villa. The interior was entirely black and white.

Typical of a man, Rose thought. To her, it looked dull, there wasn't even a hint of bright color anywhere. Yet, despite that… it still screamed luxury.

"Let me show you to your room" Vincent said, taking the bag from Leon.

He shot Leon a deadly glance. Leon understood immediately.

Without wasting a second, he rushed out of the villa slamming the door behind him.

Rose felt slightly uneasy now that they were alone in such a large house.

Vincent walked upstairs, and she followed behind him quietly.

He stopped at the first door, opened it, and revealed a spacious room with the same black and white interior.

"This will be your room" he said.

Rose frowned slightly, and Vincent noticed.

It wasn't girly, it wasn't warm, it wasn't anything she would choose.

But…

She had no choice. She was homeless and he was offering her a place to stay.

"Thank you so much. I'll unpack now" she said, taking the bag from him.

"The housekeeper will be back from her leave in a few minutes. She'll prepare food" Vincent added. Then he pointed to the next door. "That room is mine"

Rose felt uneasy there were clearly enough rooms in this house, why did hers have to be right next to his?

"I'll be in my study for now" Vincent said. He tried to soften his tone, but the coldness was still there.

Rose simply nodded. The moment he left she slammed the door shut.

Letting go of the travelling bag, it dropped to the floor with a soft thud.

Rose let out a deep breath of relief, wrapping her arms around herself before suddenly jumping onto the queen-sized bed with a wide smile.
