Chapter 5 - New Beginning

He was about to sleep when suddenly the helm dissipated into nothingness, after it was gone he blacked out.

The room fell silent after he blocked out, and something glowed on his right arm, it was glowing a greyish color. It was a mark similar to the design of his helm, an ancient like carvings.

After a few hours, he woke up, and he suddenly felt something on his chest.

"Ugh! Why'd i pass out all of a sudden? S-something is on my chest, Th-this is my helm. A grey one!"

The grey helm was lying on his chest, it wasn't emitting some colorful glow, it was just lying on his chest like a piece of metal.

He looked at the helm intensely, feeling a warm aura that soothes his heart, a feeling of comfort just like a newborn being held by a mother.

The helm felt familiar to him, so familiar that it felt like he had always carried that grey helm. That very feeling was nostalgic to him.

"Th-this feelings. It feels like I've understood what this helm truly is, But at the same time it feels deep, and mysterious. Both these feelings are mixing together but not completely, Like oil and water mixed together"

But something felt off, The mysterious aura from the helm gives off a dangerous feeling. He seems to understand that, if used wrong, the casualties would be devastating.

Just as he was thinking of touching the helm, he hesitated, he felt that if he used the helm too much he would turn into something he doesn't want to be.

He worked up his courage and touched the grey helm on his chest, and equipped the helm through his thoughts.

As soon as he equipped the helm, he felt the same excruciatingly mental break he felt when he first equipped the helm.

SHIING!

"G-grahh!! A-arghh! I-it still hurts! E-every time i equip this helm, My mind breaks!"

the mental break stopped after four and a half minutes, although the pain was the same, the duration of the mental break got reduced. He was sweating and panting heavily, just like last time he struggled to get up his feet.

"U-ugh! This pain! I have to get used to this! It would be troublesome to experience this pain every time I use it"

Suddenly something glowed on his right arm, the mark glowed grey. The mark felt like a vibration that made waves throughout his body, the trigger of this glowing mark was the grey helm.

He looked in the mirror to check if there were any other marks anywhere on his body, but there were none, just the ancient like pattern that felt like it was carved on his skin.

He got curious about the glowing mark on his arm, and curiously touched it. As he touched the carvings on his arm.

TOUCH!

his mind suddenly transitioned to the white blank space he saw when he entered the mental door.

BLACK OUT!

"Th-this place! It's the white blank space I was on when the mental door appeared. B-but why am i here? I-i should be in my room looking at a mark on my ar- R-right! a mark on my arm!"

LOOKED!

"Th-the mark on my arm is still here, But how did i get here? I remember touching the mark"

Clueless about what he's doing here, he looked around on the white blank space that seems to have no end. He thought he couldn't escape this space- after wandering around for a while, he sees a shiny object on the ground.

SHINY!

"W-whats that? A shiny object?"

"he picked up"

"Th-this is! It looks similar to the crystal i found inside the mental door. Why is it here?"

The crystal suddenly glowed a greyish color

"The crystal glowed!"

The crystal suddenly merged with the helm. He was shocked to see the crystal suddenly merged with his helm.

"W-what the? Th-the crystal! Why did it merge with my helm?"

Right after the crystal merged with the helm, something appeared in front of his eyes. Something that resembles a board with letters on it, just like the ones on the adventurers guild.

"W-what is this? W-why am i seeing this? Am i hallucinating? Th-this must be a dream right?"

He trembled and was confused that something was floating on his sight, he was so shocked that he was taken aback and sat down.

"W-why am i seeing things? I-is this real?"

He tried to touch it but hesitated, but he built up his courage and touched the screen floating on his vision.

The screen contained his personal information and the mastery he has on his helm.

"Name: Vyrel, Age: 18

Stats:

Strength: 8

Defense: 7

Speed: 5

Intelligence: 6

Mastery over helm: 5%"

He pressed the Mastery and it showed him the required to obtain more mastery.

PRESSED!

"Requirements for additional mastery!

1. 3 iron ingots, 6-8 inches of hyenas hide, 5 inches of wood, for a knife.

2. 9 iron ingots, 7-9 inches of hyena's hide, 6 inches of wood, for a sword.

3. 6 iron ingots, 17 inches of wood, for an axe.

4. 3 feet long acacia branch, 2 feet of string

*Craft 200 items

*Kill 100 hyenas with a crafted item

*Fix 10 broken items

-Reward: 10% mastery of the helm."

"W-what the hell are these requirements? This is absurd! How am i supposed to finish those, And why is the reward just a 10% mastery? Here i thought I was going to be lucky, just to end up with an almost impossible mission!"

Vyrel then continued to explore the screen in front of him, he discovered that he can cancel out the screen in front of him through thought.

After he explored the screen, he suddenly went back to his room. Still standing in front of the mirror, the pattern on his arm no longer glows.

He glanced at his face intensely, and saw the faint visibility of his helm equipped on his head. The helm can't be seen by others who can't sense ether, and the user can make the helm visible to other helm riders at will.

"So mother can't see my helm? This will be helpful. I plan to hide being a helm rider to my mother, I'll tell her after I gain enough mastery over this power. Maybe i can also enroll in the so-called Helm University if I can find a sponsor"

He opened the window in his room to feel the warmth of the sunrise. This will be the beginning of his training to achieve the goal he always wanted as a kid, to be the greatest Creator.
