Chapter 31
Euphoria was beginning to think Wayne had a screw loose. He was the one who had brought those "love flowers" home, yet he was also the one who had secretly disposed of them.
She sat down beside him while he was working, gently touching the bruises on his face. "Does it still hurt?" she asked softly.
Wayne stopped what he was doing and shot her a look that was half-resentful, half-pouting. He shook his head slowly. Euphoria smiled at his stubbornness, then leaned in, pulled his head close, and gave him a quick, firm kiss on the lips.
Wayne's golden eyes went wide with shock and immediate delight. He licked his lips and whispered, "More."
Euphoria laughed and kissed him again. In an instant, Wayne's brooding mood evaporated. He suddenly decided that getting battered and swollen every day was a small price to pay for this kind of reward.
